Not to mention, this is good news for us gamers who are... You know, just getting their 360's and are hoping to have time to play this and many other games.

Hmmm, should have seen this coming to be honest.

I was going to keep Fable 2 seeing as this was due on Monday, now I'm not so sure.

Another free pass from Joystiq for an overhyped, under delivering Molyneux promise. How surprising.

Oh no, a piece of DLC is a month late? How ever will we cope? The end is effing nigh.

Because it's not like practically every game these days is delayed at some point due to the complexity of modern tech and the scope of said games or anything, oh no.

Let's get this straight. I personnaly don't care if it ever gets released. My point is when a professional outfit promises something like DLC for a game and includes it in its promontional material, that is going to influence people to purchase the game, which is of course why they promise it in the first place. And once again, the product was not delivered and Joystiq and people like you make excuses for them.
Given Lionhead's and Microsofts history, they most likely were absolutely certain the DLC wouldn't be ready in time, just like the DLC for Grand Theft Auto 4 never made is FALL 08 release.
And much like Epic, maybe they should worry more about fixing the existing bugs than selling people extra content.

By the way, the complexity and scope argument is bullshit. Many things are complex and large in scope, get over it. Would you happily make excuses for the man building your house if he kept running over schedule? Would you say, oh, that's ok, because house building is complex and difficult. Molyneux keeps promising the world and delivering little and will continue to do so in part because of sites like Joystiq who continually give him, Lionhead, and its publisher, Microsoft, a free pass and happily trudge out the 'difficult and complex' argument.

Okay.. chris.. so why don't you go in and develop the DLC yourself since the difficult and complex argument doesn't fly with you.

Maybe they found something in cert testing. who the hell knows. I have plenty of other things I can play in the meantime.

So just calm down and enjoy christmas.

Would you rather have an unfinished, buggy piece of shit? Personally, if I am to pay $10 for some more content, I'd like said content to, you know, work.

Don't fret over delays, they usually make games better.

Chris, lets get this out there - you are a Sony apologist who trashes anything related to the 360. Now, that being said, what is the big deal with some DLC being late? How does that create such a huge problem in the world (for those who actually play a 360 that is). I for one am not mad, as its additional content...that I need to purchase. What the hell does it matter if its a little late - I haven't bought it yet. I don't have the room to bitch. It's nowhere near the situation of someone's home not being finished. How weird are you to see them in the same light.

You aren't fooling anyone by compiling an argument over Joystiq and Lionhead - we all damn well know you are only pitching a fit because its something to slam them for. Just get over the fact that not everything is made for the PS3 too.

"By the way, the complexity and scope argument is bulls***. Many things are complex and large in scope, get over it."

Apparently you are not a software developer. Software can be a crazy mess and complexity and scope can shift from underneath you. While I do agree about the house, but people have been building houses for thousands of years, so how to build one is pretty much down.
But imagine being a builder in a world where we decided to start building 30 years ago, and the building materials have changed 100 times in those 30 years, and imagine that buildings rarely had things in common, and when they do that building material and design is incompatible with your current building material and design. Now you are looking into the world of software design.

Also, part of this DLC was announced a secondary free DLC that includes items, and clothes and stuff. Oh yeah, AND A PATCH FOR THE BUGS. I guess they are working on that after all.

OK. So, Chris. Hi. How you doing? Good? Great.

Ok. So, it's OK if Sony is late on the Flash PS3 firmware update, but not if Moly-no delays the Fable 2 DLC. I agree with you that Petey M promises too much when he can't deliver. But how many people in the industry does that? Probably 80% of them. He's just the poster child for it, just like Jack Thompson is the poster child for anti-violence video games. He's not the only douche who does that, but the's the face of the movement.

I love the double standard, though, really, I do.

I'll talk to you later, buddy. Have a great day!

chris, you've NEVER missed a deadline? for anything

shit happens. Is Lionhead supposed to release an unfinished DLC pack? People need to stop jumping on the industry's dick and crying because of delays. Enjoy the product when it gets there

Lionhead has a history of doing this. Anyone heard of Fable, or Black and White???

Jesus, get over yourselves. Noone is suggesting that software design is not complex, just that it is just one of many, many complex jobs in this world. My work is complex too, but that is not an excuse that will fly with my boss, or anyone else. I guess the difference between my job and 'software engineer' is that I have to have a degree to do my work.

They (Lionhead, Microsoft) should n*o*t* have used the promise of DLC in their marketing campaign when history shows that particular company has a habit of missing deadlines, as it is deceptive.
And just so no one else gets their panties in a twist, my line of thinking applies to any and all companies, making such unlikely promises, not just microsoft.

I may be off my rocker here, but I don't remember any marketing campaign promising me DLC by the end of the year when I picked up Fable in October.

In fact, I had no idea this was even supposed to be out this year. Where was it announced? Wherever it was, it certainly wasn't the basis of their marketing campaign to get people to buy the game, as you suggest.

The DLC was announced on the 24th November, over a month after the release of the game. Save the blogs on Lionhead's site and the initial press release, there's been no advertising push or anything, and it's a single-month delay. I have absolutely no idea what the heck you're moaning about.

Yeah hi Chris, how are ya.

The only time I've ever seen Joystiq take someone to task for delaying something, is that shit outfit that can't handle putting out a patch for the Castle Crashers multiplayer.

That's bout it pal, relax.

Good! I had only 900 points sitting in my account and I didn't want to pay for any more before Christmas and I couldn't decide between this and the new GoW maps. Decision made.

I don't care about the DLC, go ahead and delay that, but PLEASE give us our patches for the game breaking bugs and don't delay them along with the DLC.

Chris is right, but not only that, its all about marketing, too many games are getting released half done. Publishers are shipping incomplete games in sake of dlc sells which are starting to become huge, a new thing. I know, I have worked in advertising for 13 years, and dlc is the new beard and butter to these huge pubs. If you own a console, expected delays, and getting ripped off for things that should have been in the game to begin with. That's the future of gaming, you don't like boycott it, but that's not going to help because the mindless masses will always buy.
