Not really what I'd consider "karaoke" songs
VaultICEE @ Dec 18th 2008 9:07PM
Come on, not ALL of them are that bad.
Who wouldn't want to sing along to What Is Love? Definitely going to be on my buy list when I get the game in the new year.
CAHLITO @ Dec 18th 2008 7:57PM
Virtual Insanity and What Is Love are instant buys. Woo Hoo! I'm glad they are actually updating it.
deathwombat @ Dec 19th 2008 9:49AM

I've been cold on Lips DLC so far, but some of these songs may just get my points.

Since its got the iPod/Zune pkug in support, what if you already have these songs?
Jeremy @ Dec 18th 2008 9:50PM
The songs you import from your iPod or Zune or whatever just pretty much allow you to sing along to that song, and do not have lyrics or the music video to accompany. So, for example, I could load "What is Love?" to the game from my iPod, but I'm just kind of singing along and the game does its best to figure out if I'm singing anywhere close to it or not. If I buy "What is Love?" from Marketplace I get on-screen lyrics, the music video, and much much more accurate score tracking.
Microsoft has promised they will add lyrics to some imported songs (presumably ones they don't plan to sell) based on that song's popularity -- although this has not come to fruition yet.

A few more Depeche Mode songs and I'll be forced into picking this one up.
C'mon Rock Band...you've already got Duran Duran, what's stopping you? There's enough guitar parts to make a good number of their songs worthwhile. :(
HighFiveJesus @ Dec 18th 2008 9:29PM
so whats the difference between lips and kareoki revolution or the singstars?
the people i'm looking for the answer from, are the people that decided to only own lips, or got it after the fact they played/owned the other ones.
Biggie @ Dec 18th 2008 10:20PM
They really are all the same game, If I had to pick only one I would go with Sing Star--haven't played the PS3 one, don't have a PS3--they more genre focused nature of each release is attractive, ie pop, rock, country. That way you get a lot of music you are interested in sinning.
Still lips has been fun, I can't until I have the family together for Christmas.
Eggnog and karaoke = fun!

We have all three.
KR is one of the most fun, we like that you create a character and it feels more like a game with a progression. But with the american Idol ones, the "judges" get annoying real quick.
We really didn't like the old (PS2) singstars, the scoring and placement of the lyrics seemed like taking a step backwards after KR. However the Singstars do offer disc swapping (which is actually a pain in the ass) and the actual music videos.
On PS3 we have singstar ABBA (yeah, I know.) And for some reason we like it a lot more than the older ones. also there are over 400 songs of DLC on the singstore and they have a myspace type feature where you make an online profile and can watch clips of other people singing and post your own clips (audio, pictures and video are supported with either eyetoy or the PS3 eye) which is hilarious, especially when people have their kids on.
Lips has by far the best microphones. They have implemented a very rudimentary rockband/samba de amigo- type thing where you shake the mic for sound effects and can strike poses to activate a score multiplier. the DLC has got about 6 songs on it right now though. Lips also does the actual video in the background also. You can import your own music into lips, but he scoring is basically the game's best guess at you hitting pitch and there are no words on screen. One nice thing about lips is that anoyone can join in at any point in the song by picking up the mic and shaking it.
I'd say if you are looking for something to play at a party, singstar or lips are more pick up and play, with singstar winning right now for just the number of songs available, but lips will be better once they have more content.
For you and the wife to play at home or something when there's just you and one or 2 other people around, karaoke revolution is probably better.
Hope that helps.

I could have sword The Fray - Over my Head (Cable Car) was on the disc.... I have the game but admittedly don't play it much as it was a gift for my girlfriend....
El Capitaine @ Dec 18th 2008 10:57PM
If I didn't already have enough of the already tiring "music" genre, I would totally get this.
Andrew @ Dec 18th 2008 11:20PM
I love that Paolo Nutini song, I'll sing along to it any day.
Wim @ Dec 19th 2008 4:33AM
So nice of them to actually release "Suddenly I See – KT Tunstall", but isn't this song already available.
Also, I would like to see a new version of the game with new content, instead of just 100's of songs for $2 a piece.
ScottG13 @ Dec 19th 2008 9:33AM
Kind of an odd list...
