have to agree, Home may be free but it appears to do anything really decent within the game is going to cost you loads. FFS, we're giving these companies free advertising by wearing their branded goods, ytf should we have to pay for it.

Next thing you'll know is that we'll have to pay to have a video screen in our club houses / apartments showing Red Bull (or other advertisers) adverts.

If Sony keep penny pinching like this, Home WILL flop. It will be a fad for a while but will die out.

And all the hard earned NAMCO sway we may have had is now gone, too. This was a huge bummer.

But at least I can get in on the first try?

I suppose the only way Sony will get the message is if very few people actually buy this stuff.

They will then have to reduce the price to a real micro-payment amount to generate some revenue.

Trouble is....there are so many losers out there that will not be able to help themselves.

Would love to be able to see what returns Sony get for Home purchases and for that matter what they get for LBP too with their MACRO-payments for costumes

Fair enough, but the point is asking people not to buy it so we get the stuff for cheaper or free doesn't seem to work. There were people, myself included who wanted Qore to fail because, chances are, we'd still get the demos, just without the price-tag.

I think it'll work the same with this, except Sony will think to themselves that only a small group are interested in purchasing, keep the prices the same and cater to those people. I think they'd make more money if they charged less, I know I'd spend a pound a hell of a lot quicker if it got me a complete outfit.

If you don't like that example consider that for many years Japanese games makers thought the English didn't like medium-budget console RPGs because they didn't sell, when the reason they didn't sell was the price.

Please please please, no one buy any of this crap.
Making a freaking Santa suit 5 bucks is craziness, even media molecule with their 2 dollar costumes made the santa suit free.

Home needs things to do, like giving you a bravia branded HDTV in your house so you can stream movies from your harddrive or disc onto it and anyone can watch.
Or a sound system in your house so you can play music. That is my dream, to have a movie theater in my "apartment".

I just can't believe that they're selling things in a BETA. Sure, once it's finalized, sell away, there's a sucker born every minute.

Also what's up with having to re-download every zone? That's pretty stupid.

It's obvious that Sony is just testing the waters. This is the first time that someone has done this on a console so they don't know what people are willing to pay for fake things. Sort of like the horse armor in Oblivion, it was extremely overpriced and almost useless. However some people still bought it while the majority of people didn't, and after that companies got the gist of what they could charge for dlc in games. Home will be the testing ground for future console virtual worlds and potentially console mmo's.

Maybe Sony can pull their fingers out and give us EU server bods our "promised" Far Cry 2 and Uncharted rooms, funny that for some reason the US get's them and the excuse on our end is Regionalising issues, i personally never found it that diffucult to translate American English into my own English

And don't even get me started on the Red Bull Air Race

Hilarious pricing - THERE IS NO WAY I WILL PAY THAT FOR E-CLOTHES / ITEMS. Sony must think they've uncovered gold with Home, and that people will blindly spend money on clothing items just because it's cool.

I'll use Home, sure, but I'm not paying for anything within it that's not a real game.

I love how you all call people who buy the items 'suckers.' Have you ever thought maybe the people actually have money to spend so they spend it the way they want? Everyone knows it's overpriced, if you don't want to pay for it then shut up about it and let others pay for it if they want to.

The point is that Sony need to get the message that people are unhappy that their definition of micro-payments is far too high.

If no-one sadi anything then Sony will just carry on thinking that people are ok with the pricing level they have set.

This is a beta - its the time TO complain, give negative feedback and hope that they respond (although I'm not banking on it!)

I agree fully, but there's a big difference between feedback and calling other people suckers for buying something. just because you're afraid to spend the money yourself.
Like I said, if you don't agree with the prices, don't buy it.
