OutRun Online Arcade will feature an OutRun mode, as well as Heart Attack and Time attack modes. There will also be Trophy support, voice chat and leaderboards. No doubt we'll hear more information about pricing and release date in the new year. In the meantime check out the video after the break and the gallery below.
OutRun Online Arcade coming to PSN in early 2009

Sega has announced that it will be bringing the Out Run series to current-gen consoles. OutRun Online Arcade will be available to download from the PlayStation Network Store in early 2009. The game will feature fifteen tracks for you to "rediscover," so we're assuming they're from previous Out Run games. You'll be racing one of ten cars against up to five other players online.

Outrun was baddass back in the day, I hope Sega doesn't pull a Sonic with this return as well...

Ugh, I bought Outrun Ferarri 2006 on the PSP recently while fun, it was just sort of...meh. I don't think the gameplay has aged well

That looks awful. I know it's not a simulator but those kind of physics just ruin the game. The cars don't even look like they're on the same plane as the road. Ridge Racer (which this game copied, OutRun wasn't originally a 'drifting' game) did exagerrated physics right. This game looks like utter crap. Quit rehashing old stuff and give us new stuff. I wouldn't download it if it were free. A waste of megabytes.

Wow, that looks like utter garbage. It's a horrible ripoff of Ridge Racer. Sure, OutRun is older than Ridge Racer, but OutRun wasn't originally an exagerrated physics drifting game. The cars don't even look like they're on the same plane as the road. What a waste of megabytes.

The game actually does look fun. It's tight and fast paced. But I'll only buy it if it supports split-screen matches

I already have a arcade-racing-game. Burnout and really don't need another one!

Why are you so sceptical? This is basicly Outrun 2 (and 2SP) from the looks of the video. Outrun 2 still is one of the best arcade racers in my book (possibly only surpassed by the extraordinary original).
I just hope Sega will add some goodies besides trophies, otherwise I may just as well play Outrun 2 and Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast (which I bought years ago) on my Xbox...
