Lol why can't we get real tracks from Billy Squier like the stroke... Or i'd love me some Pretenders.
Either way it's nice to see Rock Band get into the Christmas spirit! (yea thats right i said christmas! Shoot me) They didn't do this last year, its a nice little treat :D
GatorSax2010 @ Dec 18th 2008 5:08PM
Ironically, the first song shows they're getting into the Hanukkah spirit, too, so "holiday spirit" would actually be more appropriate here...
(NOTE: I'm not trying to flame, and I'm not a super-PC guy, either, I think people getting upset over people saying "Merry Christmas" is silly.)

Oh i didn't even realize that about the Hanukkah song. Still it's nice to see the "HOLIDAY!" spirit.
But on the people taking offense thing...It is getting a little out of hand, I mean for so many years all over America, it's been "Merry Christmas". But now every time you mention the word Christmas someone somewhere gets offended. We've become a much too sensitive culture in America and it's starting to sicken me. That being said...Christmas has been going down the wrong path for years, becoming a totally secular holiday and now its more focused on materials and consumerism...I'm sorry this just saddens me i had to get it off my chest O.o

*assuming this is the obligatory "War on Christmas thread*
"Christmas has been ... becoming a totally secular holiday and now its more focused on materials and consumerism"
That's why I don't get why people would be "offended" by its use. Gift-giving is the only part of Christmas many people celebrate, and I see nothing wrong with simply shifting the cultural definition of "Christmas" away from its Christian origins (which, as you described, has already been happening for years, if not decades), rather than trying to suppress the title for multicultural/secular reasons. For my own part, I'm an atheist and I call it Christmas *shrug* it's just a word, and people at large can change words to mean whatever they want them to mean, just by using them in new ways. It only seems to be a big drama for Americans, so maybe you guys just aren't taught how easily language can change. That would explain the gay marriage problem too, actually.. "Redefinition of a word? I'M SCARED!"

I will download the pretenders for sure. It would be kind of fun to have "do they know it's christmas time" from Live aid. Boy i am showing my age.
343 Guilty Fart @ Dec 18th 2008 5:07PM
Also some Last Christmas by Wham!
tkAshur @ Dec 18th 2008 4:54PM
Ah man, only one barenaked ladies song??? I love their Christmas album, there should've been more...ah well, maybe next year.
GatorSax2010 @ Dec 18th 2008 5:08PM
"Elf's Lament" would be a fun one to sing.
Eric @ Dec 18th 2008 6:08PM
Elf's Lament is a great song - but are you as good as Steve, Ed, and Michael Bublé?
I'm quite partial to their version of Jingle Bells.
SKI @ Dec 18th 2008 6:14PM
Elf's Lament is free on Amazon.com, everyone needs to download it.
GatorSax2010 @ Dec 18th 2008 8:35PM
Their Jingle Bells is awesome, if only for including the Batman line.
gwangi @ Dec 18th 2008 4:54PM
Here is the Pretenders Blue Christmas.

Barnaked? Is that like, a country-themed cover band for the Barenaked Ladies?
samfish @ Dec 18th 2008 5:00PM
Needs more Richard Cheese Christmas songs.
Also needs more Christmas With The Devil.
Makeseven @ Dec 18th 2008 5:12PM
anybody heard "Don't Shoot Me Santa" by The Killers? It's pure awesome.
MowDownJoe @ Dec 18th 2008 5:12PM
Hopefully, this means we'll get some Pretenders and some Barenaked Ladies in the future.
In other news: HELL YEAH for some BNL!
shannon @ Dec 18th 2008 5:50PM
Some Trans Siberian Orchestra would awesome!!
jorojoserojas @ Dec 18th 2008 6:17PM
So, um, I think you should go work for Harmonix now, because I totally agree with all your ideas.
Get this person a contract!
HappyFunBall @ Dec 18th 2008 6:06PM
No mention of the Wii?
Eric @ Dec 18th 2008 6:10PM
Now, I know that Ed plays Guitar Hero, so how long until I can see a video of Barenaked Ladies playing their own song on Rock Band?
Or, better yet, them failing the song.
Comet @ Dec 18th 2008 7:16PM
Needs more Kinks "Father Christmas".
Levi @ Dec 19th 2008 3:03PM
And a dash of Ramones' "Merry Christmas (I Don't Want to Fight Tonight)"
TheDave @ Dec 18th 2008 7:26PM
Very poor choice of Hanukkah songs if you ask me....
Why couldn't they get Adam Sandler's Hanukkah song?
I'd buy that one for sure!!!
Jason @ Dec 19th 2008 9:42AM
Seriously, a Hanukkah song on Rock Band? Man I though as a Jew I'd never see the day. Too bad it comes 3 days late of the first night of Hanukkah. This would be great to play during the first night's Hanukkah party with my relatives. Ah well.
