According to posters at the Slick Deals forum, Circuit City is currently selling the 120GB hard drive for the Xbox 360 at the staggeringly reduced price of $80. These puppies normally sell for twice that price, so it's one heck of a deal. There is a small catch though: you'll have to hoof it over to your local Circuit City if you want to get your hands on one, the deal is nowhere to be found online. In fact, we can't even find the 120GB drive listed at the Circuit City website at all. The deal isn't being advertised, but several members of the Slick Deals forums have attested to its authenticity.
If anyone out there has managed to take advantage of the deal, let us know in the comments. You might want to act quickly. We don't know how long it will last.

I saw a 120GB a few weeks back at CC for $99. But when i went back to the store when i could afford it, it was already gone. So I think this is true, but good luck finding them.

A good deal indeed, considering anyway.
I still to this day can't wrap my head around the fact that a 120 gig HDD for the 360 costs so much. Just because of its special size and connection to clip on to your 360.

Indeed. You can(or could, dunno if its been disabled now), just hook up a 120gb hdd if you format it correctly.

format in FAT32 for external storage, you could never save game data or marketplace content though. Too bad I own an Elite already, and a 500 GB external for all mu music and AVI's...legal AVI's of course...

I got my 120GB for CC a few weeks ago for $85. CC was selling it for $99 and I had a $15 off coupon. Grabbed a bottle of water and BAM!!! $85 out the door with a 120GB HD.

I imagine it is true considering Target was doing the same thing a couple of weeks ago. I picked one up for $95. Seemed to be a clearance item at Target though so it varied by store. I wonder if they are actually trying to get rid of the 120 and just have a standard 60 for everyone UNLESS you buy the Elite?

Wish I had some more confirms before I hike out to our nearest CC. Still might look into that hard drive hack over at XboxScene for $60.

This is a pretty old deal by now.
I think you would be lucky to find one still in stock at a store still.
BOTH Target and Circuit City seemed to be clearing out their stock of 120GB HDD's. Recently.
I was lucky, and got one from Target @ $90 a few weeks back.

That's still twice as much as a 120GB HDD should cost.

not unlike a Rock Band song for double the price to actually own the f'n song!

Yeah cuz its not like they have to do extra work to a track to make it work with rock band or anything... it clearly should only cost the same as a normal MP3...
Oh... wait. Fuck. They do a ton of work to the songs to make it work in the game.

Not as much as you give them credit for, it's harder to put a 320kbps in ACC for itunes and make it unlockable to other formats than it is to match chords to buttons...take some C# or hell even C++ classes and throw in a Video/Audio Production class while your at it.

Woah, I didn't know they were so expensive. I only spent 90 bucks to get a 320gb HDD for my PS3... I was thinking of doing the same with my 360. Can I only use the official xbox HDD or can I buy a regular one?
Dang, I don't want to spend 80 bucks on a 120gb.. lol.

i got mine a few weeks back for 99.99; i did notice that the Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter for $99.99 but the odd thing it says CLEARANCE & looks like they took out all from the stock-room & put in by the games. Last time i saw that was the 120gb HHD & when i saw those sellout when it dropped to 99.99 is when i bought one. so i'm hoping to do the same with the wireless adapter. i got the Wii without a wire for online & a big thick cable for the xbox. damn vanity...

To those who have seen them: were these at CC stores that were closing? CC ads running in my area have mentioned two stores closing and putting out some good deals. I'm wondering if these are the places where the HDD can be had for cheap, or if it's all CC stores that are doing it?

Got mine for $99 from Circuit City. It's a closing store.

Its a shame that some of the 360 accessories are way way overpriced. So much for a standard 2.5" laptop hard drive in a special casing, so much for a wireless adapter. Too bad MS can't let us use our own 2.5" hard drives and wireless adapters. : (

CC was sold out but I was able to get them to print out a price sheet and take it to Best Buy where they price matched!

This is indeed true. It was $99.99, then they must have dropped it to $79.99.
Swung by my local CC with my g/f on Monday as we were trying to finish out our Xmas shopping, and she got my final gift - a 120gb HD for $79.99. She didn't believe me that they were so cheap, since it said $150 on the tag, so I took it up as if I was going to buy it and sure enough it scanned $79.99, and she snatched it from me haha!

Last week at CC (store is NOT closing) I saw the price listed as $99 and I decided not to get it. This past Monday (12/15/08) I changed my mind and went back and got the last one. It rang up at $79.96.
To those hoping to get one, good luck finding one.

The special is real, and at stores open and closed (if there is stock).
Houston is sold out however. I found one, and I have to drive 25 minutes later today to get it, but if you can find it, GET IT.
I have been waiting for a HDD special, so THANK YOU VERY MUCH GUYS!
XBox 360 - I am currently down to EIGHTY MEGABYTES free on my current 20 GB...

damn all of the CCs in Phoenix are out or closed. Hmm, I don't suppose someone would be awesome enough to pick one of these up & ship it to me, would they? I'd PayPal the cost plus shipping. Just respond to this comment. Please. Thanks.

spent $45 on my 120gb hard drive. of course it wasn't officially licensed, but at that price i could afford to learn how to replace my 20gb. if it was only $80 i probably would have just gotten that.

Uh...non-official ones can't save games/data...etc on it other than a storage device for your own music/videos collections. Thus, it's not as useful.

Non-official ones can do anything official ones can if they are lappy drives enclosed in the 360 hd shell with special formatting.

My local non-closing Circuit City had one 120GB drive on the shelf, marked $180.
I took it up to the checkout and it rang up $79.96. With the $25 gift card I had from my CC credit card, it cost me 60.56 including tax. VERY acceptable 66%-ish discount over the original price.
Maybe this is an attempt to get cash by moving items people were doing more bitching about than buying, or maybe another better drive is coming, but either way now I can do stuff like install games on my 360.
So make sure you get a price-check on any stock you do see, just in case...

I just bought the xbox 360 120gb hard drive from target on clearance for about 48 dollars after taxes ...talking about patience being a virtue!!! It pays to keep checking and scanning products for price drops reguardless of higher prices being printed on them! I try my best to wait till prices drop on a product before picking them up...the hype to buy impulsively will get you anxious and broke!

i was in Los Angeles for the Holidays. Luckily i had the UPC and got a store supposedly where 3 of these were in stock. So i drove to the store in Woodland Hills and i was able to not find one. So i tried to do the price match at Best buy and they were useless then i went to Frys and tried it there sure enough it worked. They called up the store the store confirmed they had 3 in stock and i got my 120 gb Xbox 360 hd for $86 after taxes. I was stoked. I gotta say that Frys had the best theme it was Alice in wonderland and the help there was great.
