I think the videogame industry has done better than others in this recession. They are a great and relatively cheap alternative source of entertainment than for instance going out every weekend to a club, theater, restaurant, etc where the costs add up.

Perhaps not.. in times like these it might be a safer bet to buy a game you know and remember as being good at a budget price to play with friends, instead of buying the latest $60 co-op generic shooter.

It's exactly why I bought Crash Team Racing off the PSN store the other week - drunken fun with it 8 years after it came out made it worth the £3.50 entry fee.

@ Haggard -
You're in the UK right? Anyone know if/when Crash Team Racing getting to the US PSN?! I love that game, and would drop $15 on it in a heart beat.

About the same time that the EU store gets Crash 2 and all the Spyro games I bet :P

(i.e. when Sony can be arsed)

Very well deserved too, but i'm an old school street fighter pro =p. Gotta burn some more money to get a decent joystick and mod it with non-suck buttons/joystick/square plate

I'm pretty dissapointed... mainly w/ the controls (on the 360, anyway). I mostly got it because my gf will only play fighting games and she put it down after 2 rounds.

We will unfortunately probably never play it again.

Is one of those games that I was about to buy when I remember I have never been good in any 2D fighting game for the exception of King of Fighters were I'm mediocre.

I might try it on the PS3 becaus ein the xlive the freaking D-pad drives me nuts.

Impressive numbers. I didn't think it would sell that well, to be honest. At least there's a chance we'll see some more HD remakes in the future, which is always a good thing from Capcom.

I bought it, on BOTH PS360. Worth every penny! It lags bad on PS3 ranked though. Weird thing is I actually prefer the 360's D-pad over the PS3's now. Thats what happens when you play over 200 matches on 360 and then buy the PS3 version. I hope Capcom adds trophy support for it though. I already got my 200GP from the 360 version.

BRING ON SFIV!!!!!

Why'd you buy it on both if you live the 360's D-Pad more? I'd have thought you got the PSN version for the D-Pad and 360 version for Live.

i think Capcom's done a great job with downloadable games. Mega Man 9, Bionic Commando, SSFIITHDR (lol)… all excellent. makes me wish Konami would step up to the plate.

anyway, congrats to Sirlin & Co.!

I made the mistake of watching SF tournaments on youtube and got myself all hyped up and bought SFII HD. Wasn't a BAD choice mind you, it's just I own like 6 other copies of this game.

So you're obviously a fan then. How is dropping $20 on a version of the game that sports high-def graphics and smooth online play a bad thing? Or I guess a better question... which previous release had that going for it? You sound kinda regretful...

Oh, I'm not regretful, just laughing at my ability to keep purchasing the same game over and over. The main fault I have with SFII HD is there's no scoring system, which is a reason for me to keep playing it getting higher scores. Other than that it's a great game.

So if so many people have purchased the game (myself included) why is there so little online activity! It's frustrating to search for a match on such a popular game and find absolutely nothing.

I'm guessing you bought the PS3 version right? When I look for a match on LIVE it takes less than a minute. Host a ranked match and it takes even less.

I have to do multiple searches when trying on PS3 and if I host one it takes forever so I don't anymore.

You're kidding, right? It took 2 years to redo all the graphics for *this* game - with the countless frames of animation used in 3rd Strike, it'd take up to 5 years to redo all of that game's graphics (something they'd have to do from the ground up thanks to the radically different sprites, so the "but they can use the experience from this game to speed up the process!" card doesn't apply here). MvC2 HD isn't going to happen for the same reason, except replace "frames of animations" with "characters".

Oh crap you mean it might take time to develop? nevermind then, count me out, fuck that if i can't have it tomorrow I don't.... Oh wait... so? who cares if it takes 5 years, you think it wouldn't be worth the wait?!

I realized that it lowers the chances of Capcom actually doing such a thing, but in light of how well this has been received, I am sure they're at least considering such routes... most businesses DO like money, especially relatively easy money, after all.

I'll buy it as soon as MS gets us a decent 360 dpad. I don't want a stick.

Was looking forward to trying the demo (which might have swayed me depending on how well I can deal with the dpad) but it was gimped to online only so I haven't even gotten to play it.

Holy crap!!!

How was that not first page news that they finally are releasing decent SF controllers for Xbox 360??

Now... $40 is pretty steep, unless they are wireless though. I can't find any good info on if they are wired or not... but I was expecting if someone other than MS does it they would probably be wired...

I would think that nearly every PS360 owner who was part of the SFII craze in the 90's would want to pick this up. Other than the default controllers used, this game was arguably the best of the many versions of Street Fighter that came out, and, unlike XBLA Hyper Fighting, there's no lag when playing online (for me anyway). The game is perfect when you have short chunks of play time.

Best selling title? I'd be interested in knowing the top ten selling downloadable games on each system.

I feel a great sense of pity for those people who bought this game. I also feel a great sense of pity for those who can't move on from the Street Fighter series.

Really, just move on. Go play Virtua Fighter or something else that doesn't suck.

"something else that doesn't suck", eh? Street Fighter II came out in 1991 and is STILL being played competitively at world tournaments like Evolution. And don't bother pitying people who bought HD Remix... it's not simply a port with pretty UDON drawings slapped on top.

Anywho, there's no reason to move on from the series as Street Fighter IV arrives in a few months.
