Movie star. Pawned Hollywood story. Slowly dying publisher. Mix these elements into a blender with your favorite liqueur and you're typically going to get "crap in a glass." But, based on the cinematic trailer for The Wheelman the game actually looks entertaining. One part Burnout, two parts Transporter; The Wheelman could shape up to be a solid release if all the stars align in the favor of developer Tigon Studios.
And no, we're not going to hate on Vin Diesel in this post because the last time he was involved with a game, things got done right. We will however hate on the dialogue in the trailer, "A good driver knows when to start and knows when to stop." Really? Thanks, The Wheelman! That actually might be the first question on the learner's permit written exam. Not exactly brimming with the Hollywood toughness their script writer probably thought it was when he wrote it. But, we digress.

I don't know what the hell some of these American car manufacturers are thinking with some of their recent "automatic only" releases.
I mean even the new friggen charger doesn't offer manual transmission... WTF. An automatic? No f'in thanks.
I hear a 6-speed might be coming out for the G8 sometime in '09 though.

It does look kinda fun actually. Get home from a long day at work, turn the game on and shut your brain off kind of relaxation.
And OptimumEDGE, I seriously doubt the manufacturing will even be around to make a manual G8 by then lol.

When I first heard about this game I just wrote it off as another GTA clone, but it actually looks pretty good.

So uh, what's with the 1988-style physics? That car just kinda moved like it was a magic carpet with no mass, sort of floating left and right over the ground when nothing should have been changing it's position. Right when Vin starts saying "a good driver knows..." watch that blue car do all sorts of silly movement.
Seriously people, get your cars stuck to the ground. I bet when the characters walk their feet sort of slide over the ground as their body moves, doesn't it?

I've played it. It's not fun (at least it wasn't a few months ago at E3):

I got to play this just recently at the last focus test, and let me tell you... its fun.. as in crazy OTT gameplay. the driving feels solid if a bit arcady, the cars have good weight and drift to them, the bikes are really fast and great for small allyways, and let me tell you about the big trucks!... boy! these can destroy everything in their path.
The near to final build is great, well done to the team .. you may have yourselves a real winner here.
