When is Marvel vs. Capcom 2 going to be released again?

Would be kinda cool if they'd do a HD version of it, But too many of the Marvel's characters are in the hands of too many video game companies right now for a new version of Marvel vs Capcom to get done.

I think you mean it would be awesome! And it doesn't need to be HD. It's just a 2-D fighting game. I just was a re-release

MvC2 popped up for the XBLA and PSN on the ESRB website a few months ago.
http://www.mvc3.com/mvc2-gets-esrb-rating-for-possible-release-to-xbla-psn/

Apparently, the Marvel license expired for whoever was holding it, but it was never announced if the previous holder (Activision, I think?) re-upped or if someone new got it.
...but it sure sounds like it might be back in Capcom's hands if they're really planning to re-release it on the downloadable services.

I remember that because it was on Joystiq. I knew there was some awesome person here who would be able to reference something. You're awesome Samfish. Thanks a lot! I really hope it happens though. I would pay $15 for that one

I'm not liking the sound of "console-exclusive character"

That just means they won't be in the arcade version that'll never be released Stateside.

Why? Were you planning to import the arcade?

It means you won't find these characters on the arcade, they are exclusive to consoles, this includes PC, 360 and PS3.

*Console playable only* means you can select these to play on the console whereas they were only played by the CPU in the arcade version.

I think it just means that they're not in the arcade game, not that they're exclusive to one particular console (a la Soul Calibur 4.) I seem to remember one of the developers saying that having characters exclusive to one console or another is a shitty thing to do (which it is.)

Good stuff. Rose is lovely, has a lovely voice, a completely unique play style, and most importantly, she's easily the biggest character to the storyline.

I've never been able to really get into fighting games as I'm privy to single player stuff and tend to suck hard when I actually play against someone, but I love the art direction and level of expression in the characters (plus just enough nostalgia) to almost want to play this.

The thing about fighting games is that you're always wowed by the incredible detail, but never get to enjoy it when you're playing save for a few split seconds per match when it breaks from the profile camera view. Games like Soul Calibur have the welcome free camera mode that lets you enjoy the visuals more, yet you're not really PLAYING the game.

I guess it's unavoidable in fast paced games, but it sure can be a bummer since 3d fighting games these days are pretty incredible looking (especially in screenshots).

if your favorite character isn't included, just wait for "Street Fighter 3: Turbo"; we're sure to get more characters with the inevitable 'sequel'.

i am thoroughly disappointed in the lack of ANY SFIII characters.

people have commented that the drastic change of new characters in SFIII with minimal throwback to SFII was a reason for the alienation of old SFII players. i feel just as alienated for not giving my an SFIII family in SFIV. x]

i'll still buy and play the game, of course.
but seriously, when Street Fighter IV "Double Trouble," is released, i hope to see some SFIII love.
even Sean... go ahead and put Sean... but the beastly Sean of 2nd Impact. lol

SFIII characters are balanced around the existence and use of parries. In a game without parries, each character has to be evaluated to see if they fit with the system.

No, it's not. It takes place between SF2 and SF3 (specifically a year after SF2).

Am I the only one turned off by the male to female ratio??

20 males, 5 females. I actually want more females in my games, better to look at sometimes. (DOA is guilty of this, but in a good way, its also a good fighter)

MadCatz' upcoming SF4 joysticks are supposed to have real Japanese arcade parts and have major figures from the fighting game community helping design them. If you can't wait for them to come out in February, can't do wrong with buying one of Hori's arcade sticks.

I really hope by the time the game drops that there is some sort of DLC support. I love 3rd Strike, it's my favorite SF, but I feel like without OTG's, parrying, ratioed supers, super cancels and target starters/enders that they'd be much too different than they were intended. I know they've been different in Three and in 2I, but eh, then there's that whole thing that several characters were reincarnations of those from 2 and Alpha. Other bonus Capcom characters (Darkstalkers!!!!) would be so badass though. I'd only be down for Three's characters if they were really done with love. CVS2 Yun might be doable ftw.
