While this is better than what EA preferred to offer concerning DRM, with Steam being more sensible about it, the nagging idea that you don't really own the game bugs me. You're a licensed user of the game.

But of course, this is how it's been for PC games. As for myself, I don't really sell games to anyone. I usually hold onto games so long they're not worth selling anyway. I understand others want to sell, and I hope they keep the fight going. EA going to Steam is a step in the right direction (hopefully). I can only argue on a rhetorical level.

Isn't that how it's always been?

Though of course, you can't resell steam games... (though i'm not sure if you are technically allowed to resell other games either... stupid EULAs..)

Now if only I could transfer my Spore license from the stupid SecuROM DVD to Steam, I'd be happy about this.

Great. They just did a wonderful 39.99 USD = 39.99 EUR conversion and made all european purchases in EUR, effectively making Steam more expensive than retail copies. Plus screwing europeans again by making us pay about 40% more than americans.

Steam? No thanks!

US only... Plus Steam just pissed off a whole lot of Europeans with it's new "1$ = 1€" nonsense. There's an epic thread on their forums about that and still no comment from Valve.

And I remember recently seeing posts on mass effect's forums where staff were repeatedly saying "There are no plans to bring Mass Effect to Steam"

Can Joystiq get a comment from EA on the status of DRM in the games they released on Steam before this announcement? Crysis is still listing SecuROM in it's profile.
