The PlayStation Blog has dropped all the details about the upcoming Metal Gear character and level pack for LittleBigPlanet, due for release on Dec. 23. The character pack will cost $6 and contain four outfits, including Snake, Meryl, Screaming Mantis and Raiden. The costumes can also be purchased for $2 individually, with the exception of Raiden.
The $6 MGSlevel pack is the real seller here. It features a Gurlukovich soldier costume, 72 stickers, 12 materials, 10 decorations, 18 objects and more. Most importantly, it includes the Paintinator, a paint ball gun which adds some much-needed violence to LBP's happy world of lollipops and imagination. Check out the adorable promotional video after the break.
Hands down the best DLC content to date. Love the costumes. Love the levels and that paint gun is sweet! For the guy bashing the jumping mechanics...you are so alone my friend. All those AAA reviews don't share your broken sentiments.
Yeah, I would pay $5 for the paint gun alone, so I think the level pack is well worth the money. As far as the costumes go I will be getting them but people should realize they will likely not be needed to have a lot o fun with the level pack.
^Agreed. The gun component alone is worth the money! I wonder if they will include a sword component too one day :) Then if I ever DL a Sephiroth clone i could hack n' slash Ghouls 'n Ghosts or Prince of Persia style :)))
Does the 6 MM levels go into the story mode? Or are they just found online? That would be uber sweet having two new creators in story mode; Liquid and Solid snake creators =P
I have to admit, when LBP started nickel and diming for costumes, I was a little upset, but this is completely different. IF they keep shelling out premium content that is this good I will gladly mail my wallet to Media Molecule. PS- That video is pure awesomeness.
Challenge levels are just survival challenges where you make it as far as you can through a special level before you die (or last as long as possible, or get through it as fast as possible). There's no real reward to them except a possible high score.
And for the most part, it's possible to get all the items in story levels on a first go-round, but not very likely. I've only got 100% of items on 2 or 3 levels. Usually there'll be sections that require 2 or more people, also.
Once in a while, you might need a certain sticker that's not available until a later level to get some prizes. I think that's the only time you can't do everything on the first run.
When have they bitched about rock band or guitar hero, or gears for that matter? Last I recalled, they even have a weekly column about new rock band DLC music.
I think this is awesome. The gun adds a whole new mechanic to the gameplay, the costumes look hilarious (and cute, of course, it IS sackboy after all), and new developer-made levels? Sold. Considering what other games try to give you for around $10-12, this is a steal.
