Very impressive! I hope at least once a month, we get add ons like this. So many franchises to pull from, like KZ2, Uncharted, R&C, FF oh the list can be a mile long

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we see a trailer awhile ago containing a Sackboy Helghast? I could have sworn I saw them, so I don't doubt it. And this level pack is absolutely amazing. I'm so glad they decided to go so far in depth with this. But you're right. If LBP wants to stay on top I'm glad they arn't developing a level pack only twice through the LBP life cycle. It's great they put so much effort into everything. We are practically seeing dlc every week, so there is no doubt in my mind that we will begin seeing kz2, as well as many other game content, showing up in LBP.

So.... if we snag all the new MGS4 content and use any of it to build a level, do we get warned for breaching copyright? How does that all work? I mean... obviously, we can't call the level anything related to MGS4, and we can't have any MGS4-related themes in it (which makes having the content possibly difficult to use), but I'm a little confused on how that all works. Obviously, they've licensed portions of the content to produce their level packs... does this mean MGS4 levels are then fair game?

Of course they've licenced them. They wouldn't be able to do this DLC if they didn't. Stop being silly.

I dont think copyright issues involving dlc content they provide will be an issue obvioulsy or why make it available. MM hasnt been cracking the whip that hard even on non ps3 ip's (you can still find countless mario rehashs and mirrors edge clones) and even so now they give you time to tweak user created levels rather than just hitting delete on those that violate said copyright violations. I think mm thus far have set out reasonable dlc prices and have been consistant throughout pay alacart for what you want or get a bundle and they give you free swag. The MGS pack is just approving upon an already great game and now im even more excited about that FF7 dlc content that was shown here what back in october imagine the attention mm will give that if this is an indicator of things. Btw whatever happened to the dlc involving the rare tshirt that was supposed to come out to the sony store that was reported here europe got the option so whats the hold up????

I'm not being silly. I know MM and Sony have licensed the content. I'm asking about how that license works for OUR levels should we choose to make a level USING the proprietary and copyrighted content. Until now, any semblance to a copyright or proprietary theme in user-created levels has been very much disallowed. Does this mean that using this content in our levels would still fall under the same restrictions? If not, have the restrictions been relaxed for pre-licensed content? And if so, to what degree?

I don't see that those are silly questions.

Thats a fair point.
I guess that since you bought some MGS property, its fair game.
Especially if people have to have also bought the MGS pack to have those MGS levels display in the level browser.
Cant imagine why they would ever complain.

You can use the MGS pack to make levels that are NOT based on MGS. I don't know why people think that getting a MGS pack (like the Kratos pack) means you can only make MGS type levels. No, that will still violate copyrights (unless the sticker is say a picture of Solid Snake, then permission is implied). Now whether MM/Sony relaxes the restrictions because of Konami is unknown, but the bottom line is, just because you have a MGS sticker pack does not necessarily mean you can start making MGS levels.

i assume they'll be able to see all the stickers and stuff, just not use them. like in the story, it's not like you couldnt see any of the stickers that were around until you unlocked them =)

Like I said, I ran out of room, but the PlayStation Blog covered it. Here:

"Non-MGS Level Pack owners can PLAY the MGS Story Levels by joining a “host” who owns the pack and play the levels online together. Now you won’t be able to keep any objects, but you can have tons of fun just PLAYing.

MGS Level Pack owners will be able to CREATE levels with any of these items (including the Paintinator) and SHARE them online for everyone to play."

My level got moderated & it had absolutely nothing copyright. I simply made a PS3 logo over top of a swing. The reason i'd buy this pack is for the features, but what's the point if MM hasn't cracked through their horrible moderation system. I still see levels like Mirror's Edge or History of PlayStation so wtf. Way to let down a fellow dedicated old school gamer MM. Thing is that was just a test level trying out the mechanics. So what's going to happen if I make a level again, they'll be on my back or something. Yes it's true & I read the EULA all creators that put hard work in making their levels be careful. Some things about the LBP product are just BS. Why create a game where the company promotes creativity of levels when this kinda things will happen to the most decent of level creations. Even the GoW & SotC levels were removed. Heaven & MM knoww how many others.

See?
Now that's something worth buying.
Not the costume pack (that's still stupidly overpriced for just costumes) but the level content pack.

I thought LBP was doomed to die under a clutter of crappy costumes. I'm glad they're finally releasing some DLC with actual new gameplay content. I don't know if a gun is the most original thing they could've added, but it should be fun.

cool. I might actually start playing this game.

Good job on adding a new game mechanic. The in-game default actions (jumping/pulling/pushing) can only go so far. The paintball mech will help to add more depth, especially if the gun can also be used to turn on levers and other triggers.
