We're not exactly sure how "A leads to B" in this case, but Edge claims a new Crackdown could be in development following the creation of Ruffian Games. The new studio, which has not been officially announced, is allegedly comprised of several members of the Crackdown development team, including "key members" and the game's lead designer.
Realtime Worlds, the original developer of Crackdown, is currently working on APB. Of course, all this sequel talk falls snugly in the realm of rumor and speculation. We've contacted Microsoft, which owns the rights to Crackdown, to ask if Crackdown 2 is currently in development. It's a Friday, might as well take one good shot in the dark before the weekend starts.
Update: "Microsoft does not comment on rumors or speculation."

I really enjoyed Crackdown and anxiously await Crackdown 2.
What I thought was funny was the tremendous amounts of pre-release hater-aid poured on this game from practically everywhere.
To Crackdown haters I say, "Suck it Trebek!"

If they have an achievement for finding all 500 orbs it damn well better be more than 50 points.

All 500 agility orbs is 40 pts and all 300 hidden orbs is 50 pts. I'd rather play a couple cheap arcade games for a few hours for 90 pts that try to get all those orbs.

It's on of the hidden ones i need.
The 500 are rather easy to get, as they all appear on top and or, the edge of buildings.
While the hidden ones are under roads, bridges........rocks.
I do believe it's a 50GP, as my gamerscore for that game is 1200. I just need one single hidden orb left to fully complete this game.

Can't you use the audio "ping" to find it? Didn't they ramp up the sensitivity of that after the update? At least I thought so.

Crackdown was the reason I bought a 360. I play that game more than the others I've bought. Halo has nothing on it. CoD has is boring going back through.
I was really annoyed when C2 was ignored by Microsoft. APB sounds cool, but I'm still waiting. TOO LONG. Almost like DN:Forever.

Will it come with a Beta of Halo 4?
Posted: Dec 19th 2008 3:04PM aristokrat said
The Beta was a great idea, because it got a lot of people to buy and play a game that was actually really good and that might have been missed otherwise.

Man, I remember when everyone said the game would only sell because of the Halo 3 beta... now everyone's begging for the sequel. Good times.

OMG please make this happen! I fell in love with the first Crackdown with its colorful littl skill orbs that would float over to you and the hidden orbs and agility orbs that I never found all of. Man such a great game.

Obviously there's a game for everyone out there but was Crackdown really that great?
Admittedly I have not played it, but the peeks I got of it displayed amped up PS2 'sandbox' visuals and it's sole purpose was only to increase the hype for Halo 3 through a Beta.
Discuss.

The game was fantastic, and the visuals far surpass what was possible on the PS2- so I don't know where you get that. The game is pseudo-cell shaded, however, that's no reason to dislike a game. The sole purpose of the Halo 3 beta was to hype up Crackdown- not the other way around. Crackdown wasn't expected to be a very good game to begin with, so they included the beta to increase sales numbers so it wouldn't be a flop. What was unexpected was the fact that it was truly a great game, giving you far more freedom than games like GTA. Trust me, there is nothing as fun as scaling buildings and throwing cars in GTA IV.

You know is funny when games like RE are called racist when Crackdown abused of the stereotypes.
The Enemies for the first act were Speedy Gonzales and his General Lento Rodriguez; for the Second act they were Nico Bellic’s cousin and his generals Boris and Natasha and for the last act you had Pai Mei with the extras of the Mummy 3 and the cops from Jet Set Radio.
The best part was the cinematic at the end. Wasn’t it cute? The game thought it had a story mode.
What killed the game for me was the DLC that was already in the game, Is not the price but they just made me wait on purpose to play the full game? Yet the race mode sucked but man Keys of the city was awesome.
Anyhow just add Split Screen.Online the game was borked.

I don't see how either games could be racist. How else would you expect Hispanics (Mexicans, or their equivalent in the game), Russians, Asians (Chinese or Japanese equivalent), or Africans to sound/look? It's not racist- what would be racist is if they portrayed them as something different to try and stay politically correct.

Well you are right on that one I’m taking it the wrong way but I thought they were portrayed heavily stereotyped, maybe was the lack of imagination of the creator.
I hope in the next game they put a different type of enemies not for the stereotypes but for the fact non of them were expecially memorable. For example Pursuit Force uses some Hollywood stereotypes but theya re compensated with style.
Man Big Big Japan should develop a Pursuit Force Sandbox game, that would sell like pancakes.

I've been playing this game A LOT lately... Everyone should be- it's a fantastic game, especially when you can pick it up used for 14 bucks.

People actually thought this game was fun ?
Here's the entire game:
Go to point 1A, kill about 50 generic dudes.
Go to point 1B, do the above.
Go to point 1C, do the above, but also kill some random dude.
Repeat... too many times.
Done.
...But wait, I can be bored while being online with friends!
/rolleyes

Whoa. Y'know what? I agreed. I bought Crackdown right when I bought my 360 years ago. Probably played it maybe 2 hours total. Just never understood the point. It was a little sloppy to get into initially, a little aimless. Two of my roommates gobbled it up, played the the hell out of it. Have hung onto it since because I knew I'd get to it at some point.
Then you went and referenced one of the shittiest games I've ever laid my hands on. State of Emergency, really? Talk about garbage, yeesh.

Rather than wait for some program to identify and direct my objetives I was able to decide for myself which objectives to engage. Ah freedom.
The city was large with great vertical scales to challenge my abilities and some necessary but mindless goals to keep me climbing.
The villains were a repetitious lot, changing only their weaponry and linguistic style as I advanced; their only true challenge lay in their numbers.
I enjoy this diversion a great deal, a second edition would be welcome providing it; gave a more diverse fighting skill set, delivered a few super powerful enemies, allowed those enemies to engage and pursue an objective over the entire city and presented a destructible environment.
Ok, that's all; good bye
