For a lot of bands, yeah, it is redundant and they'd be better served pushing it as DLC. But for Metallica, this actually does make sense. Their songs and the accompanying metal bands are going to be really difficult and might turn off a lot of the casual players who pick up the main game in the series. However, metalheads and the super-elite Scorehero crowd were really pissed off that GHWT had less of the really difficult metal tracks than RB2. Putting those songs in GH:M along with the additional features, like the Expert+ drum difficulty that charts for double kick pedals, is a way to satisfy them without alienating the rest of their customers.

This entire genre is redundant. If it's not DDR, don't talk about it.

To think, mountains of Fisher Price guitars are being piled up in landfills everyday once the allure of these band games quickly fades away. Burning up all these trashy games is directly contributing to global warming.

Rock band/Guitar Hero gamers are melting Switzerland! Stop being so selfish, think of tomorrow and your children's tomorrow.

I can't tell if you're joking or not.....

Anyway, yes, I think it's pretty stupid to come out with an entire new game now. Just make it DLC. Rock band didn't have incredibly difficult songs, but they put some in as DLC. That way the crazy-hardcore could download the difficult songs, while those who can't shred as well still have a chance to beat the game on expert.

Ctrl+F, "Guitar"

"No results found"

Where exactly are any plastic guitars mentioned?

Wow, dumbest post ever!!! I can't believe you think GH and RB are games that are fading away. I've had GH since it came out and its still fun. Anyone who pushes GH aside as a nitch game then says DDR is the only game worth talking about is a moron! Talk about a game that "quickly fades away." As for your complaining about global warming...please! Haven't you heard? They changed it's named to global climate change because its getting much colder in places! The world has gone through hot stages and cold stages without humans. Why don't stop bringing your stupid environmentalist bull to a gaming site and go eat your granola and drive your Prius like a good tree hugger.

I think that they are setting up these single band games like a sort of "history of this awesome band" DVDs that you can usually find, only longer and interactive.

All in all, not for me, but I could see people who are fans of whatever band really liking the concept.

I actually played Guitar Hero Aerosmith to completion, as I'm sure most of the people here have not. :P

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is more than a Greatest Hits album. It's a tribute to the band and their career. The characters, interviews, and venues warrant it being its own game.

It shouldn't have been full price, though. It still only has like half as much content as Guitar Hero III. I'm glad I rented it instead of buying it.

I just don't see how this is any different than RB & the Beatles. So the Beatles game isn't branded as "Rock Band"... it still is though, same as GH: Metallica is.us

There are two things that you people don't seem to realise about these games:

1. They are far from Greatest Hits games, giving us refreshing Deep Cuts in order to satisfy the people who love these bands rather than just listen to what they put on the radio. That's something that simply can not be done with DLC, because everyone will call foul if DLC is put out with songs that no one but the hardest of the hardcore know.

2. Metallica picked the songs that should be in this game. In the GI article, it specifically said that the members came out with a list of around 500+ songs they wanted in the game, which they worked with Neversoft to narrow down into something that could be stored on a disk.

Certainly amusing to see how North American related media eat the dog food that Harmonix throws like it was served in a golden plate with sugar on top.

So I have to believe that a game about the Beatles that plays with a plastic guitar, a plastic drums and a USB microphone made by the people that has the Rock Band code is NOT going to be a Rock Band type game? Give me a freaking break...

I can't wait for this game. I think Metallica is one of the few bands that could carry their own music game.

Personally, I find the whole issue irrelevant as I can't stand either Beatles or Metallica. (I'm more of a Stones/Megadeth kind of person.)

Maybe a bonus discount game, for the uber fans, but really, most (if not all) of the songs should be DLC. Pack in some posters, a CD/DVD, and some new content (venues, specific character models, etc), and make it fully compatable with the current Guitar Hero, and now that's an idea. But these 'halfsie' games only degrade the series.

That, and I just picked up Rock Band 2 (after buying the full band kit for GT:WT), and although I don't regret spending the cash on GT:WT at all, RB2 is a MUCH better game.

Look soon for "Madden: Tennessee Titans!" Play mostly as the Tennessee Titans throughout the history of their existence, moving through Houston and wherever else they've been all the way up to the powerhouse year they're having now!

What's to do? change the skins of the band members throw in a couple other group specific graphics and voila, a new game. target a specific audience that might not have bought the whole band set yet and sell another version of the same thing for 300 bucks. These companies dont give a damn about being repetative and they certainly dont give a damn about you arguing about it on a blog.
