Yeah, Mark. Yeah... You do know that HOME will ALWAYS be in a beta state? Technically, yes it's in beta form. Actually, it isn't. This is the full release. Using the "it's only a beta" card isn't going to work here. This is the product we were offered, and it's what it's going to have to be judged by for the time being.

Also, no need to self censor. It makes you look like an idiot.

@anthony

Actually, it is a beta. There have been two patches in about a week, does that seem normal to you? Home is in a state where things go wrong a lot and get patched fairly quickly. There isn't much testing before patches are released. Of course there is some, but it's not the high level production quality testing that would otherwise go on.

This was released early as a Beta. If they'd kept it closed, the launch version probably would have been much more stable and had much more content. People like you who don't understand that this is a Beta are ruining the service by setting your expectations as you would for a production release, and pressuring Sony when the product falls short.

Guys, this is "officially" a beta, but the fact that it has been delayed for so long is making people accept it as a full release. Mark, Don't call anybody retarded, maybe he just meant the home beta release, after all he never said: "Home's official release hasn't gone smoothly". So for now he's right because it hasn't gone smoothly beta or not.

The first day of the open beta I was able to log on at around 1:48 EST and once I logged off I couldn't sign on for the whole afternoon, and partially into the night. It's okay to screw up a beta later on, but a lot of people couldn't even sign in to experience it on LAUNCH DAY! Come on. The Home development team needs to do better

TedTheDog admits that Home is currently "a little bare."

A LITTLE BARE!?!?! FFS EU home is totally naked compared to US and jpn home

we have no game spaces and our home square is midget

also if you wanna see lots of pissed off people all ranting about home, the EU pricing (including home pricing), SCEE poor service to europeans, game delays for europe, PSN games arriving 2 years after the US

then just come over to the EU forums, heres a tip if you want a post that will get over 10 pages make one called SCEE SUCKS! or IS THIS WHAT WE DESERVE! it will get people in rant mode :D

its such a happy place

Few weeks? How about a few months, that seems a little more appropriate given the number of issues and lack of content we've seen thus far. It'll be a miracle if Home turns into a success story. So far, its just one of those tech goofs that people are gonna laugh about years ahead.

"We've played it and, while it's kind of neat, it's not quite as awesome as it's maybe getting hyped up to be."

At least for me, I could say the same about Home in general lol. It's funny how Home was delayed because they wanted our first impressions to be good because, at the time, there just wasn't much to it and it wasn't ready... Well, if Home is considered ready and they want this to be your first impression... wow, it must have been terrible in its first beta stages lol. (And I know that it's still in beta, but come on, when you put it up on the XMB for everyone to see...)

I love Home and hope the potential that it posesses is used properly. I am a huge supporter of it and hope it continues to grow but delaying playable content when there isn't much there to begin with is not a good idea. Did they not realize when they decided to "release" Home in December that the holidays were coming up which would make it harder to add content to it? I mean do they not think these things through...

I feel bad for Red Bull they are the first major company to buy into HOME and guess what they are getting screwed. Come on Sony make Red Bull space work quick and well because this is probably scaring companies away from HOME.

I can't see Home ever being good.

I too am let-down by it, yes it has potential, but i just can't see Sony (espicially not SCEE) doing anything with it to realise that potential.

Ah well, Bring on Killzone 2!

I'm sorry, Home doesn't have any potential. They went out of their way to make a free, boring, MMO basically. Those who think its a UI is wrong. I'm disappointed in Sony for not using that money for enhancing their online service.

Exactly. I don't know what people were expecting...but it is NOT a game, it's a social networking program which inarguably it does very well. At it's core Home is great. Unfortuneately it needs more content to draw in the people who will never be satisfied. What it boils down to is, if you like it, use it, if you don't, don't use it.

I agree with you guys. My friend and I have been enjoying home. He lives out of state, has a wife now and kids so home is our ability to "hang out" ..shoot some pool...play bowling etc. We have meet some new people that are realy cool and others that are just idiots. However that is the nature of life and being social.

I will agree more content is needed but jesus, its only been out, what, a week or so? Give them time to work on the bugs (...hence that word BETA being to the side of the home logo!!) . I'm sure most people that read this site are really into gaming and as such have seen all the closed beta vids and pretty much knew what we were getting. Yet, i'm sure "most" of the install base didn't even really research or investigate HOME so most of this is new to them. You never know, HOME might be HUGE once it grows....god knows I didn't think a small upgraded Game Cube would go on to sell as well as it has.

So many people STILL downing Home...

I have met some cool people and enjoyed some relaxing games of virtual bowling and pool, all while enjoying a few cold ones in the warmth of my own house since I'm trying to keep $$ in my pocket for the holidays. And I have spent ZERO dollars on Home.

In contrast, there have been retail games that I have spent $40-$60 dollars on this year that ended up being less entertaining. For a service that is and will always be offered for free, some of you guys should really lighten up. Or go play Wii Play...

I 3rd that, HOME is a pretty chat room, not a game.

It's nice having bowling, chess, pool etc, all while chatting with your mates, and if you do get bored of that, go rave dance (hip thrust) in sitting peoples faces. Kills me everytime.

I do look forward to getting the new game spaces, you may spot me rock dancing at those doors at the back of the square shouting about how "WE WANT MORE HOME".

I do love it though, getting back into chess, but it sucks how people quit when you're going to win!

You people are idiots. Home sucks. There is no point to it; none. You walk around, watch people do the running man, you go play stupid arcade games, and then you realize the only way to have fun is to grief.

Even if it is free you are still losing time of your life that could be spent doing meaningful things... like PixelJunk Monsters.

Sony should just dump the Home project and write it off, relocate the resources to do better things.

You have a right to your opinion but please don't call people idiots because we enjoy something and you don't. I personally can't stand FPS, RPGs or since you mentioned ones, RTS games but I don't go around calling people names because they like them. To each their own. As I said before, if you don't like Home, don't use it. If you like it, use it.

And the point of most games is... what? To get you a better job? Better girlfriend? Better body? No, it's to have fun. If you don't have fun on Home, don't go on it. I don't have fun watching football, so I don't watch it. But I don't think people who like it are idiots.

Santa, I've been a good boy this year, and all i want is a video game forum that isn't spewing with negativity from all the "smart fanboys" who want to represent the majority of gamers.

Oh well, I can wish.

People are missing the fact that the fun of Home IS to walk around and chat and meet new people. If you don't find THAT fun then don't use it. The other stuff (bowling, etc.) is meant to help you socialize it isn't meant to be a "hell yeah I'm bouts to go play some bowlin in Home cuz that's way better than resistance zomgzzz" It's just a way to socialize outside the realm of a boring email system (essentially what the friends/messaging list is).

Hey Daniel, first of all, welcome to the internet. Second, step off the high horse for a second. I have a right to an opinion just like you do, and I have the right to offend people, just like you do. If you don't like that then that is just too bad for you.

People that use Home are idiots.

It doesn't matter what genre of game you prefer, I'm the same way, I would rather play a good RPG over a really great FPS. Depends on the day, depends on the mood.

What we are talking about here is not a game, and the subject of the argument is not about taste of preference.

It's about a willingness of a person to waste their time on their $400 dollar machine to play Home. Your reasoning is that people want to walk around and chat with people? It's called going outside! It's going to conventions, video game tournaments, craft shows... I don't know... yoga classes. Aren't you a bit concerned that instead of doing this someone would rather make a virtual avatar and limit their possibilities to... doing the running man... saying hello to other PS3 gamers... play brick breaker arcade games... I'm trying to think of other things to do with Home but that's pretty much it.

So excuse my offensive postings, it's not meant to be a direct attack on someone's character, I just have an opinion and that opinion stands firm.

You are an idiot for playing Home.

i like this site coz the editors tell it how it is whether its good or bad if you want to read biast info then fook off elsewhere for your news
