Its a great idea, but should have been an XBL freebee like the snowglobe.

I'd think the snow globe idea would be cooler if you could download it. But its just stuck to the dashboard. Lame.

And people wonder why a bunch of us were deathly afraid of just the IDEA of the marketplace to begin with. Look what it's done to gaming. Stuff that would be bonus content or unlockables are now charged for and stuff like this will be used to nickel and dime people.

And don't say "well, don't buy it",because you know there are tons of dumb people who will and just encourage developers to make even more stuff for a price.

This is XNA, aka community created content. You're talking about it like it's an XBLA release or something.

Why not loop the free video (or one like it) via the media player? That's free.

Only fitting. The Wii has pay-for-screensaver, now Microsoft has to copy them :P

This was not made by Microsoft, or even endorsed by them. It was made by some guy using XNA, and uploaded. You yourself could make something similar to this and charge whatever you want for it.

It's a **USER CREATED** game.

OK, this kind of bothers me.

I spent 11 months creating the XNA Community Game Snake360. It has 300 levels that can be played in single-player or co-op modes, ranging from really easy to really, really challenging. It also has survival mode, two battle modes for up to 4 players, Internet Ranking, special modes for kids... easily 10+ hours of gameplay. The graphics aren't that great and I'll admit that, but the soundtrack is excellent and the gameplay is top-notch. Anyone who enjoys arcade-style games should love it. The multiplayer is great at parties, to boot.

Snake360 costs 400 points. The same as this... fireplace.

I am running contests RIGHT NOW with $450 in MS Points and LIVE Gold subscriptions as prizes, including a "race" contest to clear 90% of the single-player game. The contests have been open for two weeks now and nobody has completed the 90% race yet. I have done this in 5-6 hours, so I know it's possible.

I have submitted news about the contest to several major gaming sites and blogs--including this one--SEVERAL TIMES. None of them will run the story or even contact me to ask about it. Last I checked, gamers like contests and prizes...and yet nobody on the editorial board of those sites feels this is newsworthy.

Now, on the front page of this very blog, viewed by millions of people, there is a story about a fireplace "game." I feel like promoting my contest is impossible, and yet... this.

(If any of you, for some reason, feel like learning more about Snake360 or the contests, you can visit www.snake360.com.)

It's because this news was mentioned by MS itself, and that's all these sites care about.

Why do you think none of these sites ever ask hard hitting questions in interviews?

They're cowards, and they're only thinking about business.

Ya know, I am gonna buy your game dude.
I rather give you my money than this douchebag that put no effort into his glorified screensaver.

Keep up the good work.

I checked out the trailer, and it looks pretty cool, especially compared to most of the other XNA games. I would definitely consider purchasing it if I still had a 360 :(

Uhh, no one is joining your contest nor are blogs blogging about Snake360 because its Snake360. Its a crappy cell phone game that has NES graphics.

Anyone can play a snake game for free in their frikkin web browser or on their phone, a virtual fireplace has never been done before, snake has.... A MILLION TIMES.

Snake360=FAIL!

Hey Boomer, let me know when your NES has 3-D graphics, instant replays and multiple camera angles. Let me know when your cell phone Snake game has 4-player battles, almost 30 minutes of music and a single-player or co-op campaign that takes at least 3-5 hours to finish.

You've obviously never seen or played it. And I'm OK with that. I want people who enjoy fun games to play it. You can go back to playing Jumper, Ninjabread Man and Wii Play now.

Snake has been done before, true. But I promise everyone that they'll find Snake360 worth five bucks.

The last screensaver I can remember paying money for was After Dark. Remember the flying toasters? Yeah, that was a looooooong time ago...

Wow. The PS3 has some worthless screensaver-ish apps too, but at least you can interact with them with your camera and they're $2.

I might have impulse bought it at 200 points but 400 just seems to expensive for an ironic funny thing.

Some people really do like these virtual scenes. As stated earlier, there are blu-ray discs with this sort of thing on them. It would be nice to have an aquarium (sort of like the one that comes with Tetris Splash, just more realistic looking).

I just can't see paying $5. $2 is more like it. A realistic aquarium would be worth $5.
