Guitar Hero World Tour getting two free Springsteen tracks

When we first read that The Boss was coming to Guitar Hero World Tour, our reaction was a resounding "!". Turns out it's the other "The Boss," Bruce Springsteen, who is also a master of CQC. Little-known fact!
Activision will be offering two free DLC tracks day-and-date with the release of the All-American rocker's new album, Working on a Dream. The classic "Born to Run" will be joined by "My Lucky Day," a single off the new release. The songs will be available for download on both PSN and XBLM from January 27 through February 4. Videos for the songs are after the break.

I'm not the world's biggest fan of The Boss, but I always thought that Born to Run would be an awesome song for GH/RB. I'm excited.

So of course, Wii doesn't get this.

If you read the source article, it states "two free Guitar Hero World Tour tracks, which will be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii from January 27 to February 4." Don't know why Joystiq left out the Wii part.
Monkeys Suck @ Dec 24th 2008 9:01PM
Hmm, maybe it will come to Wii. I'll wait for a 2nd source too, cause this doesn't seem to have the official press release.

Man, I could use some Springsteen in Rock Band. Make it happen, Harmonix!
MowDownJoe @ Dec 24th 2008 2:59PM
I forgot you were originally a Jersey Boy. You sound like my mother.
And anyway, isn't there some guy that was a member of the E-Street Band working for Harmonix? You think that'd have some pull.

Stevie "Silvio" Van Zandt is a music consultant for HMX.

And now we test how trigger-happy Chris Grant is with the banhammer.

Can't argue with free.

DUDE THIS AINT HOW IT WORKS, dlc is announced on a weekly basis, wtf are they doing telling us the dlc song's of next month?
Haggard @ Dec 24th 2008 3:17PM
Presumably because this is one huge advertisement for Bruce Springsteen, his record company wanted the information out there as soon and as much as possible.
Hafk @ Dec 24th 2008 4:14PM
For Harmonix, DLC is announced on a weekly basis.
However, for the past two months Neversoft announced all the songs for the month ahead of time. November was sort-of planned, December's DLC was planned, and so is January's (Oasis album coming last week of Jan.)
It is good and bad. You have to wait a month to be suprised, but at the same time, you can also plan your DLC purchases.

GH is releasing it's DLC selection ahead of the "weekly" mark in order to try and steal some thunder from RB's current "stranglehold" on the music game DLC market.
Unfortunately all it will do is give HMX advance notice on what the competition has so they can adjust their DLC schedule accordingly.
And free Springsteen is cool...but HMX will get my money if they drop Pretty Woman in two weeks like everybody's expecting.

Born To Run is a good song :D and free is a good price. Can't complain
Ghoti @ Dec 24th 2008 3:11PM
Free is good. Free Springsteen is better.
Coldbrand @ Dec 24th 2008 3:48PM
Hey look, free poop!
Yourself @ Dec 24th 2008 3:49PM
Really doesn't get any better than Springsteen. I could do a Guitar Hero: The Boss edition, but instead we get garbage like Aerosmith.
Tez @ Dec 24th 2008 4:08PM
I like free.
I don't like Joystiq's ads. Seriously, not once have these full-screen behemoths actually closed when I click the close link. Ever. I tend to turn off AdBlock for sites I'd like to support, but if it cripples browsing the site itself, well... sorry boys.
