Normally we'd save this for Free Game Club, but it's Christmas Eve and we know a lot of you are reading this with family, away from your gaming PC and / or console of choice. If you need an outlet to vent your frustration, check out Left 4K Dead, an entry into the 2009 Java 4k Competition and, as the name suggests, a project no larger than 4KB in size.
Unlike its high-end Valve doppelganger, however, you must face the zombie horde by your lonesome and armed with only one nondescript gun. The Director AI is also a bit loopy here, so think of the zombie and power-up placement as being ... random. And if you end up ignoring your loved ones today, don't say we didn't warn you.
[Thanks, Josh]

Being written in Java gives me hopes that it'll appear on the G1 at some point :) Good game!

That would be sweet! I've been playing a lot of mushroom wars. Wish that game had the ability to change the grid size as well as play against other G1s

Well, L4D is shallow.Luckily it's made by Valve which is great news considering it's in dying need of one of those massive TF2 updates.

Down voted! L4D is one of the greatest co-op games I've ever played

I do wonder what is shallow about it, playing the game on expert it takes so much planning and co-operation to do it successfully.
Most other shooters you just aim at the nearest moving object, press the right trigger and let the auto-aim do the rest.

What does the link go to? I have a feeling it's either a rickroll, or a meatspin/2g1cup.

First: Extremely impressed that this fits into 4K. I was reading about all the tips and tricks about how to crunch the code into such a small space; it's not for the faint of heart. Unfortunately it also encourages poor programming practices (e.g. everything thrown into a single class rather than being broken up into different classes corresponding to distinct objects in the game).
Second: the controls felt a bit off to me - I want W to be forward, not up. I wonder why he opted for this control configuration?

Because it's a top-down shooter, not a first-person shooter?
If W was forward instead of up, that would result in tank-like controls (see: Resident Evil).
