"B-b-b-but I don't live in Japan!" We know, dear reader -- despite the fact that a great deal of the world's population takes up residence in the Land of the Rising Sun, we understand that there are plenty of those who don't. This second group likely just thinks we're taunting them with the information that Super Smash Bros., one of the most requested titles for the Virtual Console, will be landing on the service in Japan sometime in early January.
However, take solace in the fact that this might mean that it'll be hitting North American e-store shelves sometime soon. Let's just hope that our price for the game doesn't mimic Japan's -- 1,200 points (as opposed to the usual 1,000 for an N64 game) is ridiculous, and we absolutely would not pay it. Well, maybe we'd pay it, but we definitely wouldn't feel good about it. Fine -- we'd probably be ecstatic, but we'd totally pout for like, a minute or two. Take that, Nintendo!

I loved this game, but I lost it. I still have my N64 though.
If it comes to the US, I'll probably pick it up.

Well if you like to own with Kirby, Ness and Pikachu then this game is for you, also some people my like to have their complete series on the wii, you can take in count the nostalgia factor too and you can say the same thing about the twilight princess but ocarina is still worth playing :P.

But Ocarina of Time is worth playing much more than Twilight Princess.
Do gotta say, I agree with this general sentiment. In iterative franchises like fighting games or sports titles, there is zero reason to go back. The new version often has all that and a bag of chips, and a cold beer, and a space heater to fight back the cold winter midwestern winds. Of course exceptions to this rule do exist like Marvel vs. Capcom 2 where most people would be well advised to jump back to MvC1 just for some fucking gameplay balance but I digress... Onslaught>jOO!

As a long time smash bro, I have to say that the original is vastly different. The physics are totally different(more low-grav feeling), and that is what makes up 50% of the Super Smash Bros. games. If you play the original, and get used to the physics, then play Brawl, then you will notice the difference immediately.

Thats because Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess are actually different. Different mechanics, different weapons, different dungeons. The only thing that's changed with SSB is the amount of characters and stages

False.
Smash Bros. > Melee > Brawl
In my opinion, of course.

I always thought paintings on rocks were the best video format.

Paintings on rocks? All you kids with your newfangled "videos" and "pictures".
I'll stick to watching water flow downstream, or grass blowing in the wind, thankyouverymuch.
Oh, and my porn is way more realistic, too. (Or, as I like to call it, "hole in my neighbor's hut")

I don't know how Points work on Wii, but when i was a Nintendo fanboy with my Gamecube i also subscribed to Nintendo Power And They gave me Ocarina of Time, Majora's mask, The Legend of Zelda, The legend of Zelda 2, and a demo of the Wind Waker all on one disc. It was awesome and free. I'm not even sure if you had to subscribe to the magazine either, all you had to do was sign up online and they sent it to you.

There were a couple of ways to get that Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition disc you're referring to. Subscribe to Nintendo Power, register a certain number of games, or buy a new GameCube.
Or do what I did and strongarm it from a friend who owes you a game. *pelvic thrust*

Poor Nintendo still doesn't have that sense of timing. This would have been GREAT a month before Brawl. As it stands now it's like a $12 reminder that Brawl is on the shelves.

You obviously don't know much about Brawl if you think it's balanced and isn't without tons of problems. It somehow has worse chaingrabs than melee. Step backwards in most ways unfortunately, footstooling however is sweet =P

Both Kirby and Ness were severely nerfed in Melee (to the point where, while i was still best with Kirby, i simply couldn't compete in multiplayer matches, and Ness became unusable for me), both bounced back in Brawl, i think. Ness is still nowhere near my favorite character, but i can actually use him again, which is more than i could see for Ness Melee

The fact that people are excited about paying 12 dollars for a significantly worse version of a game that's already readily available on the Wii for less money (Melee) pretty much sums up everything that's wrong with Nintendo fans and the Wii crowd in general.
And that's to say nothing of the existence of Brawl.
You all deserve the numerous cheerleading and vet games you get.

and the excellent light-gun games, action games, the recently resurrected genre of point-and-click adventures, as well as superior sports sims in most cases (Madden and its ilk seeming to be the exception)
There's a lot of medium-to-low budget fun to be had. It's only the grand cinematic experiences that are absent

Yup. Unfortunately, most of those games sputter or bomb because people are too busy buying the same nintendo rehashes over and over and over. I'll bet any money this shoddy N64 port outsells just about every good third party Wii release.

sort of like how an Apple fanboy like yourself will constantly pay for slightly better rehashes of the same iPod?
Also, its not a port, its an emulation. Also, its not an import title so its only the usual 1000.
