Square, could you please stop toying with battle engine tech demos and remaking more obscure titles and get on with a FFVII remake or PSP ports of your PS2 titles?
That would be lovely, thanks.
Bleu @ Dec 29th 2008 11:51AM
Amen that is what I am saying. Geeze square you would think they are deliberately teasing us.
BIGGEN (LIVE-PSN: BIGGEN1103) @ Dec 29th 2008 11:24AM
geez, so when is it gonna be the final fantasy anyway?

a mediocre game full of nostalgia and fan service does great?
you dont say
wocyob @ Dec 29th 2008 3:09PM
idk what you heard but i heard great things about the game
Lee @ Dec 29th 2008 7:00PM
... By ultra hardcore fans.
I picked it up when I was in Japan and I'm not too keen to be honest. I love the series even the doozy titles like X-2. This just isn't great. It's poorly paced, the music is the same-old, the battles themselves aren't fun and collisions feel off.
I know some of my FF obsessed friends like it. But this one doesn't.
Levi @ Dec 29th 2008 7:45PM
a fanboy pre-judging a game he's never played before?
You don't say.
Joshua @ Dec 30th 2008 12:25AM
Yes because its impossible to play a game that has already been released.
It has nothing to do with what i've heard and everything to do with what i've played
SirFishouse @ Dec 29th 2008 11:27AM
I want to be the mermaid chick on the banner...
Marty @ Dec 29th 2008 11:45AM
Why, are you tired of having legs? ...and genitalia?
(Sorry, couldn't resist)
SirFishouse @ Dec 29th 2008 11:50AM
Oops, did I say be a mermaid... I meant play as one :\. She's probably not even playable. Looks like a boss battle to me.
wocyob @ Dec 29th 2008 3:09PM
looks to me like shiva... also looks to me like most people just go into post not knowing anything about the game or even caring about it just to post anything
SirFishouse @ Dec 29th 2008 7:29PM
Thanks for the info Drew. It's great to see the community keeping an watchful opinionated eye on everything.
Strategy_Panda (The Sandwich Poisoning Crew) @ Dec 29th 2008 11:28AM
does anybody know if this is game has a multiplayer component?
Lavat @ Dec 29th 2008 11:29AM
This is funny...So many dam Wii consoles are bought in Japan but a Playstation 3 and PSP game are in the top games sold....But I guess it is not to exciting because to see dynasty warriors and final fantasy is kind of funny and typical of the Japanese...Seriously...They need some variety.
Sami @ Dec 29th 2008 11:48AM
A lot of Wii games sell outside the top 10, and most weeks there are more than 1 Wii game in the top 10 too. For PS3 and PSP, a game will appear for a week and then plummet hard. Their games sell for a shorter time but with a big spike in the beginning.
jimmygotsmack @ Dec 29th 2008 11:57AM
"But I guess it is not to exciting because to see dynasty warriors and final fantasy is kind of funny and typical of the Japanese"
Yes, why would a games that say GUNDAM!!!!! and FINAL FANTASY!!!!!!! sell so well in Japan......
I don't think it would even matter what platform they where on. They would still sell well.
Lavat @ Dec 29th 2008 8:57PM
Of course they would sell well. Japan lacks any variety what so ever. That is why despite being on any specific console it could not change the pretentious and constant crap that comes the bowels of Japanese game development.
O and who cares about a Wii game. If it had no GOTY nominations or anything remote close to it then it is just reinforcing it's image of a gimmick stupid people will try for a week....day....
jimmygotsmack @ Dec 29th 2008 9:35PM
What?
Lavat @ Dec 30th 2008 12:37PM
I am not talking about how well it would sell despite any console. It is typical and of course the crazy Japs would that crap they make. They just have a utter lack of variety and it is not exciting or progressive for the rest of the world to pick up any more of it.
BIGGEN (LIVE-PSN: BIGGEN1103) @ Dec 29th 2008 11:32AM
Momotarou Dentetsu: 20-Shuunen.....so how do you even ask for this game in a store?
SirFishouse @ Dec 29th 2008 11:38AM
In when you want McDonalds in Japan you ask for MacaDunarado. They like making everything into complex long words so that they can feel good about themselves.
SirFishouse @ Dec 29th 2008 11:43AM
Makku Donarudo* or Makku for short.

Us Westerners will do anything to embarrass ourselves.
Matt @ Dec 30th 2008 9:51AM
So... so many things wrong with that picture. I'm pretty sure Aeris is a dude, and I don't remember Tifa weighing 400 lbs. I think Barret is a white guy in blackface makeup, and is that duck costume supposed to be a fucking chocobo?
Zertoss @ Dec 29th 2008 11:48AM
What's funny is that when Dissidia launches in the west, Japanese message boards will be filled with comments like "Those Europeans and Americans sure do love our games desu! They should make their own games desu! ಠ_ಠ"

This is the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny.
Good guys, bad guys, and explosions as far as the eye can see.
And only one will survive, I wonder who it will be.
This is the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny
TheAngryGamer @ Dec 29th 2008 12:33PM
well played.
My money's on Chuck Norris... or Batman.
mindshed @ Dec 29th 2008 12:11PM
Actually, this does not prove that if you slap "Final Fantasy" on anything it will sell. It's quite the opposite. This is actually one of the rare cases of "continuity" within the series, meaning that they are going back and using the same characters to tell a different story. It's not slapping the final fantasy name on RPG #15, it actually IS final fantasy.
Seph X @ Dec 29th 2008 12:54PM
This man speaks truths. Its nice to see the Final Fantasy franchise revisit old friends and foes. It also makes me wish they'd stop making NEW characters/universes and go back and continue the sagas of old favorites like Cecil, Cloud, and Terra.
The obvious home-run would be the Final Fantasy 7 remake, which will probably go into production after 13 gets released (since pretty much the entire FF7 team is working on 13), but I'd like to see sequels to some of the other classics. The signature of Square seems like they create an interesting world filled with characters and never utilize everything to their fullest potential. You could make this case for almost every title in the series, with 9 being the exception.
Jacksons @ Dec 29th 2008 12:30PM
I'm liking their original stuff on the PSP. Actually, I'm liking almost every exclusive on the PSP. There's some crazy stuff on there.
koehler83 @ Dec 29th 2008 12:34PM
If you think Dissidia is just 'slapping Final Fantasy on something and putting it up for sale', you do not know what you're talking about.
The game is crazy amounts of fan service, no doubt. It is also a completely unique arena fighter that I can't believe has never been done before. It is crazy fast, crazy fun and a true multiplayer powerhouse the PSP has needed since day 1.
Levi @ Dec 29th 2008 7:48PM
I haven't played it yet, but I agree witht he fact that the game looks completely original. To call it a fighting game almost seems wrong because of how not traditional it looks.
It makes Smash Bros look like a Mortal Kombat clone.
...klone?
gravewolf @ Dec 29th 2008 12:45PM
Actually ive been playing the import game and i can say that its not even near crappy and its really fun to play. I predict that a lot of gamers will appreciate this game once it gets localized in the US like it did with Crisis Core.
edhc44 @ Dec 29th 2008 1:34PM
I've played it for about 5 hours and it's a good game. People have been talking with their asses just for the sake of being cynical... After all, been cynical = being cool, isn't that right people?
I hate raising flags and I'm not doing it because its Final Fantasy (loved some, hated a few, not going into details in an attempt to avoid unecessary flaming), I'm doing it because its a good game, DESPITE the Final Fantasy name.
shadow024 @ Dec 29th 2008 1:46PM
Yes it does have multiplayer. It has Online Lobby and Offline lobby options, so I am thinking it has wifi battles.
Quattro @ Dec 29th 2008 2:13PM
I've got both Dissidia and Gundam Musou 2 and they're solid games. I don't really think its fair to talk down about them if you haven't played them.
Noshino @ Dec 29th 2008 2:21PM
That should apply to everything, sadly, there are people that hate for no reason
