Wired hails Duke Nukem Forever as 2008's vaporware king, baby

Wired, embracing the redundancy of doing so, has named Duke Nukem Forever as the top piece of vaporware in 2008. As we've made abundantly clear in the past, much has happened since Nukem's latest adventure was first announced back in 1997. Wired was going to leave the perennial favorite off the list this year because "even the best jokes get old eventually," but obviously thought the DNF horse -- with a DNR order -- still had enough life left in it for one more jab.

Keeping the dream alive that DNF may be coming to the end of a very, very (x12) long development cycle was its appearance on the Jace Hall show earlier this year. However, that was followed up by more teaser images. Keep hope alive, Duke faithful. Keep hope alive.

Ugh I'll just develop it myself so I don't have to hear about it anymore.

Would be funny if the game didn't get the same bloody award every year...

What would be funnier is if actually came out someday and to top it off it's actually good (unlike a certain sci-fi Norse game).

They were about to leave it off the list, but then a video popped up of a playable version of the game...vaporware once again!

What's funny is that it will most likely be average/suck once/if it is released.

I guess any game thats had this much development time and storyline-work HAS to be crap. If anything, this much development time should make for one of the best games ever made.

The development time is irrelevant because the game has switched engines and been redone some many times that Duke Nukem Forever today is not the same game as Duke Nukem Forever in 1997.

Story? Since when has Duke Nukem been good for it's story?

Vaporware? You guys kidding? I've beaten this game like a zillion times already... Don't you know it's been out for so long that it's already popping up on abandonware sites..

Seriously? Oh man. I was busy playing Half-life conclusion.

All those games, expansions and episodes worth every penny, the ending of the series is just priceless *sob.

I heard carmine came back from the dead and gang banged (raped) Baird with the help of Dizzy.

Knowing Cliff Ice I wouldn't be surprised if that was the Insane ending in the next Gears of War.

Some day duke... some day... You never know, it might be the most awsome FPS to ever have come out. I will just have to wait (x12) more years to find out I guess
