FanPoll'08: Most Disappointing Game/Issue / Gold Watch Award
When it was released
Gears of War 2 enthusiasts were treated to super long load times and sluggish gameplay. Immediately the words "broken" rang out throughout comments and message boards. While Epic has attempted to fix some of the issues, problems persist making the
Gears of War 2 Match Making issues your Most Disappointing Game or Issue of the Year.
Mercenaries 2: World in Flames and
Mirror's Edge fought for second spot as two titles many feel did not live up to hype.
Castle Crashers' four-month long online issues grabbed the number four spot -- and it was those Live issues that had led us to omitting it from XBLA Game of the Year contention.
Fable 2's Abbot Glitch and other bugs rounded out the list.
Sequel to the critically and commercially successful 2006 Xbox 360-exclusive,
Gears of War 2 continues the story of Marcus Fenix and his ragtag team of COG Soldiers against the invading Locust Horde.
From the comments:
"How about
GOW2 multiplayer in general. glitchy, laggy, ruined game experience." -- Tim
"
GOW2's matchmaking problems were it's demise. Had it not pissed so many people off in the beginning, it would probably still be on top of the live leaderboards..." -- DjDATZ
The Gold Watch Award was given to the franchise our readers feel should be retired for the time being. 30% of readers decided that the
Guitar Hero franchise needs to slow it down and let us enjoy our games before announcing something new to the franchise. With five released (on multiple devices) this year alone,
Guitar Hero has one our Reader's Choice Gold Watch Award. Don't cancel it, but take a break Activison ... we're getting restless!
From the comments:
"IMO,
Guitar Hero. Activision is going way too overboard on this series.
GH2,
GH3,
GH: World Tour, and now
Metallica,
Aerosmith, and whatever else.... All have been released within like the past 1-2 years?? Slow down there buddy." -- myabsolution
