We really don't know much about this third-party Swiss army peripheral other than what we can glean from its name and a fuzzy product picture. It's a PlayStation 3 remote, keyboard and controller, although the latter is still up for debate since it's hard to tell how playable those thumbsticks are -- if that's even what they are. We also can't really tell if there are L and R triggers behind the remote portion or if we'd somehow have to use the keys on the top of the remote. Regardless, at just under $30, consider our curiosity officially piqued.

This news story would probably be better if it said the device served 2 functions instead of three: remote and keyboard. Call it those and not a controller, it looks a lot more appealing. Gods, I have no idea why anyone would think of using this as a controller.

There is nothing that says it is a bluetooth device. Did you make that Digg?

This wins awards for ugliest controller ever.
As for the gamepad comfort discussion -- the 360 controller, at least, for me, is my favorite to date. I am not really against the PS2/PS3 design, as I used to prefer the PS2 layout to the X-box (by a wide margin), but the thumb stick design and placement on the 360 pad wins me over. I don't like the weight of the 360 controller, though, it's surprisingly heavy with the battery pack and without.

If you can get through Metal Gear Solid using a pair of DDR pads, this should pose little challenge. I submit that you who naysay are simply afraid of your own shortcomings.
Also, 360 controller is, to me, the homogenized perfection of gaming controllers of this generation. Fits the hand perfectly, has exactly the buttons you need, very much FEELS like good solid hardware (anything that wasn't Nintendo always had a flexing-breakable feel to it). Dualshock seems like they had a patent and couldn't figure out how to improve on it beyond cramming in the latest innovations and adding a digit to the end.

The only problem I have with the DS3 is the L2 and R2. The only problems with the 360 controller I have are the LB & RB(the DS3's L1 & R2 are much better IMO) and obviously the dpad.

I wonder how those thumbsticks compare to the PSP's.

"I can't see why you would unless there's some game that uses it loads that I don't know about."
I take it you don't play many puzzle games. Puzzle Fighter II constantly confuses "move the block to the right" with "drop the block immediately" due to the d-pad. Games such as Bomberman can't be controlled with high precision either. I haven't even attempted any 2D fighting games; those must be a nightmare.

I do think it's better as everything but a gamepad. I'd probably use it for the keyboard and remote functions, though you can't really tell if it'd be more ergonomic until you actually got it in your hands

I guess but I just use my computer keyboard. No need for this IMo as it is really an ugly hybrid that looks to have limited usability. One of my favorite features of the PS3 is the ability to use any off the shelf HDD or bluetooth headset/keyboard. The only extra periphrial I have is a Blu-Ray remote and that came bundled with the BR version of Hancock for $25. No need to worry about headset or keyboard compatibility.

You know what would be actually useful?
One controller that works well on all three systems. If they made a halfway decent one of those, I'd buy it.
Come to think of it, how come nobody every tried to make a better third party controller? They're all cheaper knockoffs. What about like a $90 logitech one with ultra precision joysticks and adjustable... whatever. I mean, they made crazy nice drum sets and guitars for Rockband/Guitar hero, why not?

That's...interesting?
I think having something that bulky kinda eliminates the convenience of using a remote over a controller for movies anyway.
Also, either that keyboard is way too small or that remote is WAY too big.
