Avatars receive questionable 'rave' fashion options
Get ready for your Xbox Avatar to rock the latest fashion trends when you dress it in ... "Day-glo Zebra Print Pumps?!" Major Nelson posts that the new Avatar clothing options are free, which we guess is good. But it means we might actually see our Xbox friends wearing them -- that's bad. Check out this list:
For the boys:
- Pixel Art Hoodie
- Rave Baseball Cap
- Dark Purple Jeans
- Green Skinny Fit Jeans
- Pink Sweat Bands
For the girls:
- Green Chunky Ring
- Red Chunky Ring
- Yellow Fingerless Gloves
- Blue Fingerless Gloves
- Chunky Beaded Bracelet
- Day-glo Zebra Print Pumps
- Rave Baseball Cap
We can't decide if the choices are '80s or '90s rave clothing. We'd ask someone on staff who attended a rave, but if they remember it, we'll know they did it wrong.

woo hoo! more stuff to make my avatar look retarded.
When will they come out with the stuff that I really want, like the option to turn my entire avatar into a skeleton.
T @ Dec 31st 2008 9:02AM
I'll settle for an option to let my Avatar stop standing like a lady.
DemonGSides @ Dec 31st 2008 10:05AM
I'm happy with the addition of a real Hoodie.
Tiptup300 @ Dec 31st 2008 1:32PM
The avatars like pretty colors and like to kiss all the boys.
Poisoned Al @ Dec 31st 2008 9:32PM

If you wanted to make your avatar look like Perez Hilton, wait no more!
Man, these would be perfect for Quincy'ing!
hehe, awful clothes, but at least no one is having to pay for em.
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Dec 31st 2008 8:53AM
Sweeeeeeeeet
now we can all take some ECSTASY and trip out while watching our avatars on screen in some trippy colors!!!
one can only hope this happens in Home as well......then we can make our avatars spin around in said Rave colors and even make a HUGE fucking cirlce of people all in Rave gear to do the pop lock dance and we can just go crazy from looking at all the fucking colors!!!!!
FUCKING SWEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Dec 31st 2008 8:56AM

baby sea tuna @ Dec 31st 2008 9:04AM
And then you had to go and misspell "colors" too! ;)
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Dec 31st 2008 9:28AM
aye if you know old English its TECHNICALLY not misspelled.........lol
baby sea tuna @ Dec 31st 2008 8:58AM
"Skinny jeans" on guys? Not at any party I ever went to in the '90s. If you couldn't fit a 2 liter in the back pocket of your jeans, they weren't worth wearing!
WiNG LifeInAGame.com @ Dec 31st 2008 10:26AM
I know, I just donated my Jncos to good will!!!
baby sea tuna @ Dec 31st 2008 10:31AM

It's the end of an era.

Dont need no skin tights in my wardrobe today
Fold them all up and put them all away...
ill trooper @ Jan 1st 2009 6:53AM
Nice 'Mondays reference, XLM - you talk so hip, you're twisting my melon, man!
Snowblind @ Dec 31st 2008 8:57AM
More options is always good. Especially when it's free.
Little Big PSN ID: johnnynumber5 @ Dec 31st 2008 10:43PM
Thats how it works man. They butter you up with some shitty free items and then before you know it BAM you will be forced to pay for all the cool tuff like big daddy suits, master chief armor, zombie gear, gears armor, horse armor and whatever other franchise they want to milk. I agree with you that more options are generally good especially when free but after I saw these online I can safely say that these should have never been released in the first place. It looked more like emo drag queen duds than it did raver clothes. If it's about the rave where are the glow sticks, scooby doo shirts, body piercings and tie dye shirts?
Put it this way it better be free because if they tried charging for it there would be a huge spectacle to follow.
MC Double Def DP @ Dec 31st 2008 8:57AM
I'm stuck at work, can anyone point me in the direction of some photos of these gloriously bad outfits? thanks.
Obie @ Dec 31st 2008 10:31AM
Believe me, NOT seeing them is a good thing!

I still haven't made my avatar (you know, because it's a manly thing to do) and it asks me every time I turn my 360. KInda of annoying.
RagnarokAngel @ Dec 31st 2008 11:57AM
*complains about easy to fix solution*
*doesnt fix*
Farseer (GDI) @ Dec 31st 2008 9:26AM
Skinny jeans... sweat bands... fingerless gloves...
You got '80s on my 360. God, I hate the '80s.
Erluti @ Dec 31st 2008 9:53AM
Whoah! The Major Nelson post reads:
"As always, all clothing choices are free..."
ScottG13 @ Dec 31st 2008 10:44AM
Free is free.
Little Big PSN ID: johnnynumber5 @ Dec 31st 2008 10:45PM
It still sucks!
ScottG13 @ Jan 1st 2009 9:19AM
Were you seriously spending New Years Eve making sloppy troll posts on Joystiq? Awesome! I wish I could add users to a watch list...
Biff_McFresh @ Dec 31st 2008 11:39AM
Pass the vicks vapor rub son.
alu @ Dec 31st 2008 1:33PM
missing the kandi and binky too
XkawsX @ Dec 31st 2008 12:58PM
This whole Xbox avatar shit is lame as hell. They should have an option to not have an avatar at all.
mynk @ Dec 31st 2008 12:58PM
oh my god joystiq can predict the future:
http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/07/tim-schafer-talks-new-gen-suggests-xbl-myspace-features/
about this new clothing though... i dont hate the pixel art hoodie, though it could have been a better selection. give them a break though, avatar clothing designers are on chirstmas break too you know.
sinai @ Dec 31st 2008 1:28PM
these things are like, 10 years way too late.
unless you want them to be ironic, in which case, you should be shot.
Little Big PSN ID: johnnynumber5 @ Dec 31st 2008 10:46PM
I would have enjoyed a Che/revoltuionary option.
ill trooper @ Jan 1st 2009 6:59AM
Get with the times, grampa - this look is back. Check any Kanye, Hollertronix, Cool Kids, or Spankrock event. M.I.A. is probably using that JPEG for her next video!
thenk83 @ Jan 1st 2009 10:27AM
Yay, more lame clothes. Next thing you know there will be avatars on "What Not To Wear".
