1. Biggest Surprise of 2008 - Tough to say. Avatars weren't out of left field, but the reception to them was. I was quite against them up until they released, but now I don't complain as much.
2. Biggest Disappointment of 2008 - Mirror's Edge could have been so much more, Fable 2's bugs should have been fixed, and Gears 2's matchmaking should have been cleared up long before release.
3. 2008 Game I'll Play in 2009 - Banjo Kazoozie, only because I haven't gotten around to it and it looks interesting. Gears 2 will always find a way back to my disc tray, and GTA IV when the DLC comes around.
4. 2008 in a Sentence - Can 2009 top the best gaming year to date?

Biggest Surprise of 2008 - Fallout 3

Biggest Disappointment - Fable 2, really that ending was all I got?

2008 game I'll play in 2009 - I started playing Prince of Persia but got sidetracked. I finally bought the original Gears of War, so I'm sure I'll get around to Gears 2 in 09.

2008 in a sentence - I'll never find enough time or money to play everything I wanted to from 2008

Fallout 3 = big surprise? I disagree. THAT ending was FAR WORSE than the Fable 2 ending, and Fallout 3 was constantly depressing.

I preferred Oblivion much more than either of these games.

1.Biggest Surprise of 2008
- Two weeks after I got GOW2 - GOW1 was back in the tray...

2.Biggest Disappointment of 2008
- I was disappointed at how little I actually liked Fable 2. I had high expectations due to media and friends talking. I never played the first one and didn't know what to expect gameplay-wise, therefore I had to trust videos seen on the internet.

3.2008 Game I'll Play in 2009
- GOW1 until bugs are fixed in GOW2. Ofcourse my xbox got the RROD last night so by the time I get it back the bugs may be fixed :\

4.2008 in a Sentence
- Best year ever for gaming.

1: Dead Space - finally a decent game from EA, their best since Desert Strike on the Mega Drive (Genesis) or Lost Odyssey, a truely brilliant JRPG, my favourite yet, nothing comes close

2: Mirrors Edge for becoming a (unwelcome) shooter, Infinite Undiscovery for feeling lazy, almost a left over from PS2, Avatars' wardrobe with the sheer lack of options, with no black jeans. Too Human, Star Wars Unleashed for both being rubbish games that did everything wrong, do these people even know how to make decent games??

3: Gears of War 1 & 2, Dead Space, Rock Band 2... bunch of games with left over chieves (dissapointments included)

4: Was a one horse race for the 360 for me. all but 3 games (out of 30ish) were for my 360, the other console on the market (the Wii) never stood a chance with only 2 or 3 weeks use

1. Biggest Surprise of 2008
How much I love NXE. It might be partially due to my new TV... but I still thoroughly enjoy how much of a change it is over the old system.

2. Biggest Disappointment of 2008
Wii releases. I haven't touched it since Mario Kart, and I don't foresee it getting any use anytime soon.

3. 2008 Game I'll Play in 2009
I have a ton of games to finish, but I know L4D will keep pulling me back in in 2009.

4. 2008 in a Sentence
Too many good games... definitely not enough time to play them all.

1.Biggest Surprise: The NXE turns out to be kind of cool, I was skeptical at first but it added some nice features.

2.Biggest disappointment: Grand Theft Auto IV, the fact that I've had this game since basically day one, and am on the last mission and I have no real drive or desire to finish it shows how repetitive and old this game got quick. Seriously the most overrated game of all time and I can't believe all of the media outlets gave such an unpolished game 10s.

3.There's an abundance of games that I didn't play in 2007 or 2008 so I try to go back and play those games next year...or the year after that.

4.2008 was an ok year for gaming, nothing that really blew me away but very enjoyable.

*throws up at the mention of GameDaily*

Anyway. Happy New Year. And:

Biggest Surprise of 2008:

Sonic Unleashed. I absolutely loved it, even the Warehog bits.

Biggest Disappointment of 2008

Grand Theft Auto 4. The same old thing but ruined by awful driving.

2008 Game I'll Play in 2009

Prince of Persia because Play.com are extremely slow. I'll likely pick up Fable 2, Mirror's Edge and Gears of Wars 2 at some point, too. And all the rest.

2008 in a Sentence

Too many great games, and still many that I haven't been able to get.

2. Biggest Disappointment of 2008) Tie: GoW 2 & COD:W@W. The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

3. 2008 Game I'll Play in 2009) Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2. I think it's safe to say that at some point in 2009 I will be inebriated.

*It's amazing how something as simple as the user interface, or in this case, the NWE, can draw customers to a product.
