Just like you, we get all sorts of gifts around the holidays here at Joystiq HQ. Probably unlike you, we don't keep any of them (even the good ones!). With that in mind, we've got five days of regift giveaways planned, where you get some free stuff (and we get some of our HQ real estate back).

Today, we're offering up this copy of the Halo Interactive Strategy Board Game. Get this, it's a board game, based on a video game, with DVD video functionality. What will they think of next?

Mindless? Halo actually has a decent story and characters, as well as gameplay that actually requires thought and strategy.

Bashing Halo really isn't cool, especially when it's clear you haven't played and/or know nothing about it.

Too bad the same can't be said for this board game..

Nahh...There is not alot of strategy involved in Halo or any other FPS for that matter...Other than have to move to shoot from cover like most other FPS games and choosing a needed weapon in a certain area like...most FPSs.

It is a mindless shooter. That happens to have alot of fans attached with its setting and ect...People love them so much because they are so accessible.

Can I Brute you with my Hammer?

I've played Halo before for PC, didn't like it. Then I promptly went back to Counterstrike and enjoyed myself thoroughly.

"Halo is a mindless First Person shooter. I'm gonna go back to CS."

Irony?

I suppose it really depends on your definition on mindless. Counter Strike requires more thought in gameplay, needing to take cover strategically and use rather advanced team tactics. But, personally, I prefer the sort of interesting narrative and backstory to the Halo universe, and the undeniably fun, fast paced shooting action. Just because a game has quicker paced gameplay doesn't mean it's less of a game.
