Support group time: No 'Zelda' released in 2008

Hopefully we'll get a new Zelda next year, but for those who need to talk about the emptiness they feel, please be sure to leave a comment. This is a place of love and support. A place of safety. Feel free to cry.

Another sign of the end of times
Markez (Anti-Panda Death Murder Squadron) @ Dec 31st 2008 3:33PM
Nah, did you read the title? No Zelda in 08. Pretty sure if a Zelda came out in 08 it'd be about the biggest gaming news ever; Zelda in a day?
Let the Meatloaf references ensue...

i haven't owned a nintendo product in years, but something about coming out w/ a franchise product every year as if its a sports game kinda takes the sheen off the experience to me for some reason. i guess this is inviting a low rank, but i think the product would be even more successful if they were thrown out once every 1 months, or 2 years. throw some extra refinement into it, make it more "epic"
i mean, would do any 360 fans think halo would have been good if they came out w/ em back to back to back? same w/ MGS series?

Arrowned @ Dec 31st 2008 10:06PM
SimbaDogg: I'd agree with you if they were all major releases like yearly Maddens, but half of these titles are either spinoffs or handheld projects with entirely different creative teams; it's not the same thing. I'd peg it as similar to the Call of Duty mentality. (which, I admit, has its own pitfalls)
offday @ Jan 1st 2009 1:11AM
Or just another sign that Nintendo doesn't give a crap about real games anymore.

I've only played 2 in the last 10 years anyway, plenty to choose from if I get that itch.
Adrian @ Dec 31st 2008 3:33PM
If I need to, I will pull the nintendo out of the closet. Don't feel I need to right now though. Yep I'm good
Jody Anthony (gamertag and psn: JodyAnthony) @ Dec 31st 2008 3:38PM
all hope is not lost. link's crossbow training wasn't released in japan until may of 2008.
Skipjimroo @ Dec 31st 2008 9:49PM
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
What? I'm sorry if that *sounded* sarcastic.
samfish @ Dec 31st 2008 3:39PM
Shame, too, cause it didn't have to be this way. Imagine how fast could Nintendo have banged out a version of 4 Swords for WiiWare or DS if they wanted?
And how awesome would 4 Swords be with online??
Of course, my dream Zelda game is a 2D game on WiiWare that plays more like LttP, rather than 4 Swords.
ice~ @ Dec 31st 2008 3:42PM
A link to the past and Four Swords were amazing :D... in fact i think im gonna go grab my gameboy micro and play Link to the Past again :D
btw didn't Links Crossbow Training come out this year? isn't that technically a zelda game? lol
Smurfy @ Dec 31st 2008 3:45PM
I cry myself to sleep at night.
samfish @ Dec 31st 2008 4:02PM
Try masturbation. It's much more effective and generally more pleasurable.
Sometimes I cry when I masturbate, but that's only because of the friction burn.
Jack @ Dec 31st 2008 5:44PM
My masturbation-cry comes from the girlfriend banging away from across the room.
Stupid whore.
*breaks down*

1st RULE: You do not talk about LoZ.
2nd RULE: You DO NOT talk about LoZ.
3rd RULE: If someone says "SQUADALA!" or goes to get dinner the mentioning of LoZ will be postponed.
4th RULE: Only one hero and pig to a fight.
5th RULE: One fight at a time.
6th RULE: No Hylian Shield, no Master Sword.
7th RULE: Fights will go on as long as they have to or until you run of hearts.
8th RULE: If this is your first time rescuing Zelda, get used to it.
Roto13 @ Dec 31st 2008 3:47PM
As the biggest Zelda fan (that can function in normal society) in the world, I can honestly say I don't mind them taking a year off every decade.
The Dark Wayne @ Dec 31st 2008 3:57PM
Meatloaf in that movie will never, ever, cease to terrify me
Daniel Lawson @ Dec 31st 2008 4:17PM
I was thinking the same thing
SoulBlade @ Dec 31st 2008 3:59PM
it's pretty obvious what we must do...
pick a couple of zeldas to play and get our fix in. phantom hourglass was pretty cool, and i haven't done my second stint of twilight princess... so perhaps i'll play those.
though given that i usually have my laptop around, i wouldn't mind firing up the SNES emu and playing LttP yet again... (and yea, I own the cart)
BigFat @ Dec 31st 2008 4:18PM
Zelda: Phantom Hourglass was horrible.
Jeepers Creepers 712 @ Dec 31st 2008 8:19PM
Eh, I disagree with the hate of Phantom Hourglass. I actually enjoyed that enough to play through. I didn't play through Majora's Mask, Oracle of Seasons/Time, Minish Cap, Wind Waker, or Twilight Princess. PH actually managed to get me to look past the hate I had for cell Link and had a blast with it.
In A World (XBL) @ Dec 31st 2008 4:00PM
Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Online

Maulok @ Dec 31st 2008 4:06PM
To anybody jonesing, go find a copy of Minish Cap. That was a highly underrated bit of joy to play.

agreed

Brawl must have counted something tooward LoZ, or else the world would have imploded by now
tkAshur @ Dec 31st 2008 4:16PM
I guess thats how I didn't notice. I was too busy playing as Link in SSBB. Good enough Zelda play for me.
jsutcliffe @ Dec 31st 2008 4:21PM
Dude, there's still about nine hours left. Don't give up hope!
juangrande386 @ Dec 31st 2008 4:53PM
WAH Nintendo needs to release a new Zelda or Im going to bitch some more until they do WAHHHH- people who dont realise theres other games out there
fred @ Jan 1st 2009 1:42AM
god damnit you're boring
Dummy00001 @ Dec 31st 2008 5:10PM
they could be cooking something up with motion plus...
e.g. Wii Zelda without waggle.
but just to not give anybody false hope: very very unlikely. next Wii Zelda is rumored to be 2D and played with classic controller only. kidding.
XenMaster4 @ Dec 31st 2008 5:15PM
I'm not sure I'd want them to keep releasing a zelda game every year. Pretty soon it'd get to be like Madden. I'd rather they take their time and focus on keeping the quality up.
mr mobius @ Dec 31st 2008 5:20PM
I've decided to become a gaming analyst.
I predict that there will be no Zelda games released in the rest of 2008.
Now gimme my money dammit!
Jack @ Dec 31st 2008 5:45PM
Will you except Rupees?
Donald @ Dec 31st 2008 6:17PM
He's already got 255 Rupees, so he can't hold any more :(
rowdyone @ Dec 31st 2008 6:17PM
Well, Link, Zelda and Gannondorf were in Smash Bros, so technically there has been a game out this year with Zelda in it...
Courtney @ Dec 31st 2008 6:20PM
If you really need to, you can cry into my man-boobies.
