Me. I don't drink so I always feel kind of left out of the new year's eve parties.

And I too haven't finished episode 2. Half Life 2 and episode 1 are complete, but for some reason episode 2 is still on my list.

I'm also at home, enjoying champagne alone instead of drinking and partying among crowds of weird people I've never met. I kind of prefer it this way.

I'm probably making the same kind of gaming resolutions as Xav and offday. There's quite a few games I haven't played through, both on the PC and Xbox 360. I want to complete both Half-Life 2: Episode 1 and 2 on the PC, and work on getting achievements in 360 games I already own. That essentially boils down to giving them the proper love and attention that I spent on Burnout Paradise instead in the hectic year of 2008.

Simple enough, I hope.

I was "out" but i didn't really do anything cool. A friend had a bunch of people over to watch the Twilight Zone Marathon on Sci-Fi.

As for my resolution: Less plastic guitar, more real guitar. Nuff said. I'd also like to learn piano but i don't think i can collect the money for some sort of keyboard.

Unfortunately, I'm at home for New Years Eve - AGAIN.

One gaming resolution I have for 2009 is to climb the ranks of a fighting game and be in the top 500. I'll either try to achieve this by playing either Street Fighter 4 or Tekken 6 once they come out.

why not just go out man if it's that big of a deal? Once I settled down and had kids going out and partying was the LAST thing on my mind. If your single then you have no excuse for not going out and hooking up or at least dancing with some drunk floosies.

To sell Halo 3, it was good for a while but with so many new games coming out it pales in comparison. The fact that it got so many 10s in the reviews is amazing. I can't believe that I slopped down $60 bucks for that piece of crap. Why were Left4Dead, and Fable not features with those midnight launch things? I'm not a PS3 Fanboy or an Xbox Fanboy I'm just saying Halo sucks now and anyone that disagrees without a true reason that its not is just an idiot.

The fact that you make the blanket judgment of "idiot" for anyone that doesn't give a "true reason" (is that a philosophical question; similar to a zen Buddhist riddle?) for appreciating Halo 3, all whilst you yourself give no reasons ("true" or not) for disliking it is hilarious.

Soooooo...

Your "true reasons" addendum for saying Halo 3 sucks now is a 2-year old blog post, written by -someone- who hadn't even played the game yet?

Your logic is undeniable. I concede the point to you.

I have to agree with you there. Halo 3 is not for me. I played through the first Halo co-op with a friend on the day xbox 1 came out. It was ok but being a PC gamer back then Halo had nothing new to bring. The level design made me sick and buildings being badly designed and so on.Halo 3 was also a total waste of time and in my opinion the halo series is bad and not for me. Then again im happy that it exsist because it give good sales for the 360 platform and helps keeping the 360 in a great position in the console war. So Bungie keep making stupid Halo games that keep 10miljon fans happy.
But for halo is a piece of shit when it comes to quality. And for all Halo fanboys you can say what you want abaut my post i just dont give a shit.

I am still home, my 9 month old daughter is asleep in bed, and my wife is in bed waiting for me to come in to watch the ball drop.

Anyways, my resolution is to finally finish Dead Space. As well as any other game I happen to get, along with the other 10 games I bought in the past few months. And along the gamerscore side, I will shoot for 30,000 as well, and I am only at 12,900!

Anyway, I want to:
-1000 point Hitman Blood Money (Only need to collect all weapons, I'm on 900.)
-1000 point GoW2 (On 700.)
-Finish FC2 and Mass Effect.
-Finish Fallout to the same degree as Oblivion (1250 points)
-Get all achievements on Fable II
-Play Team Fortress 2 for the first time.

Well simply put, I bought most of them @ once (Black Friday) and also I am not a skilled gamer, I take my own sweet time and generally am in it for the story and gameplay elements. I read most quest dialog (in RPG) try to get decent score and basically try to have fun!
Also, work was killer as in trying to meet deadlines and finish projects before year end.

PLAY THE SHIT OUT OF GOD OF WAR 3!!
I hope I don't get flamed for saying that - but you know.. it's going to be epic so it's got to be said.

But you know what? I haven't finished Assassin's Creed yet. I always find myself just fooling around and having fun instead of doing what I'm supposed to do. As repeative as it is - I'll finish it.

I got my gaming resolution from another podcast (sorry X3F i love you too). But it was about broadening gaming horizons.

So i made a list of genres that i don't play regularly and plan to play one game from each genre this calendar year.

Has to be playable on 360. so any ideas what games i should play in these genres would be helpful.

So the genres are:
Turn-Based Strategy
The Sims (well this one was easy to pick from)
JRPG
Driving Simulation

Happy new year!

For the turn-based strategy, I know the XBLA game Settlers of Catan is pretty good, since it was based off of the board game. And for driving sim, there is none better than Forza Motorsport 2.

Yeah, Forza Motorsports 2 is *the* game to get if you want a driving game that's heavy in to simulation.

It's often frustrating and the tuning options can get crazy but it's rewarding when you really nail the tuning on a car, learn a track really well and put down an awesome time.

I really can't think of another driving game for the 360 that's better in the simulation genre.

Word of warning. The endurance races are brutal. It's very hard to be "on" consistently for that long to win those races.

Finish all the games I'm basically only a few stages/achievements off finishing.

Assassins Creed
Bully
Lost: Via Domus (I seriously will just have to rent or borrow, one last a achievement to go)
Bioshock
FO3
Mass Effect (Got at least one more playthrough I think)
Amped 3

And also go back and complete a few classic PS1/PS2 games.
