We owe a huge debt of gratitude to modder Michael "Bibin" Moffitt -- for years now, our eyes have undergone irreversible damage due to being frequently strained in order to play our Game Boy Pockets in ill-lighted environments. Using only an LED, some perspex and a diffusive layer, Bibin managed to add a backlight to his beloved Pocket, leading to illuminated rounds of Dr. Mario with little effect on the system's battery life. Good going, Bibin!
(Okay, seriously, nobody tell this guy about the Game Boy Light or GBA SP. It sounds like he worked really hard on this, and we don't want to ... ) Oh, hey, Bibin! You're still here! Sure, we'd love to play some Mario's Picross! What's that? Your mom made Rice Krispie Treats? Awesome.

Uhm telling him to get a Gameboy Light is easy... yes he can do that if he wants to dish out 200 bucks Uh-merican plus rediculous customs and shipping fees... I would rather DIY it as well.

I'd rather have the GBL. It's an awesome piece of Nintendo history.

This kinda seems pointless to me since there was a backlit GBP.
Bit of a non-story?

Haha, seriously. I read through all the posts, apparently you and I are the only ones here that remember that Nintendo already made this while Gameboy Pockets were still in stores, but whatever :P

I wish I could be happy for this, but people have been putting back lights in their Gameboy and Gameboy color for years now. Myself included.

I'd love to do this for Game Boy Color.
That way I can play DDR GB!
... I can't believe how dark GBC's screen is... how did I play it back in the days before back/frontlit systems? :(

Looking at that tv, i wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't even know about the GBC.

I'm surprised nobody remembers the GBA 'Afterburner' kit. It was a DIY kit that allowed you to install a frontlight in your old GBA. That thing was a huge success, and shortly after it's release, Nintendo opened it's eyes and released the GBA SP (also front-lit).

Guys, it's Bibin, the maker of this. I did this because I don't feel like forking over 50 dollars for the GB light (nor do I want the extra thickness of AA batteries and short battery life) nor do I enjoy the ergonomics of the GBA SP - I own two of those, but they don't quite cut it.
Just thought I'd put this out there.
