Last November, Square Enix dropped a portable port of their web-based puzzler Yosumin on an unassuming Japan. Despite receiving middle-of-the-road reviews, it seems that Squeenix has decided to release an XBLA port of the game, titled Yosumin Live, as evidenced by a few screengrabs from Portuguese site RumblePack as well as a few leaked screenshots from Destructoid.
Yosumin, for those not in the know, is a Bejeweled-esque title in which the player must clear similarly-shaped blocks by swapping them into rectangular formations. A screenshot clearly showing an "Achievements" tab in the opening menu is the main evidence that the game is coming out on XBLA, though RumblePack claims Yosumin Live will make its move to the PSN shortly thereafter. There's no source given for said hypothesis, though -- we'll have to wait for word from Square Enix for further details.

I don't see how people can play a game like Bejeweled with a game pad. Its not like Peggle (which Im playing on my iPod and it rocks, along with Real Soccer 2009 and Phase. Sonic on the iPod? Not so much). Bejeweled seems like a game that needs a mouse or stylus to control.

bejeweled seems like it was tailor made for an iThing

I could see Bejeweled on an iPhone or an iPod Touch, but not really on the Classic or Nano, which is what I use

That's great, but how about an RPG or two. Seems like an untapped market on XBLA.

Thats because RPGs tend to cost a lot to make.
The point of services like XBLA or WiiWare is to showcase both independent developers and games that didn't cost a lot to make, and therefore can be sold relatively cheap while still bringing in a profit. Match X games (Bejeweled/Othello clones) are really cheap to make, so the services get flooded with them

how about: no. Square has already done an rpg on the 360, and helped with a second rpg on the system. both were pretty lackluster. we'll see how FFXIII does, but at this point i'm starting to look elsewhere for my jrpg fixes, namely Sega, Namco and Level-5 (Famitsu be damned).

Square releases tons of their classic games on other systems. They have a huge back catalog of RPGs. I guess I'm the only one who would rather see an early Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest game on XBLA than yet another puzzle game.

by "other systems" Im guessing you mean the DS. So lets compare the sales of the DS to the sales of the 360 in Japan, where SquareEnix is based.

By "other systems" I mean any platform (GBA, DS, PSP, PSOne, PS2, etc.) where Square has rereleased an older game. I'm not here to get into some pissing contest over which system has more marketshare in Japan. Frankly, I don't care. I would just like to see more RPGs on XBLA.
You want to argue that it's not worth Square's time and money to release RPGs on XBLA, that's great. But the fact of the matter is, Square is looking at the global market these days. They're showing a lot of support for all the major platforms. I really don't see what's so far-fetched about the possibility of them releasing ports of their older games, or even something akin to My Life As A King, on XBLA. I'm sure they would make whatever it is available on PSN as well to help recoup the cost of development. You want to tell me it's not worth their investment, I guess I'll have to take your word for it. I still contend that XBLA could benefit from more RPGs.

I'd like to see some RPG's on XBLA too, but Square isn't going to release their old games on these services, because they can still make people pay full price for them.
Action Game Maker is coming out in March though, and that allows you to make Zelda type games using the program on your PC, and then upload them to use with XNA.

I never played FFVII but fanboys talk so much about it I feel like I already played the game but I might buy the Ps3 version (If there is ever one).
To be honest I rather have a remake of FFVI a la FFIV DS.

Maybe you backwards people should stop forever looking backwards, patiently awaiting the latest Squaresoft rehash, and buy superior games from Taito's line up: Legend of Kage or Space Invaders Extreme, for example.

I can't see why anyone would ever pay for this when you can just play it online here:

A word of warning though, DON'T CLICK THAT LINK. The music is insanely cute, plus it's insanely addictive. I hate it and I still can't stop playing ;-;
