We've been following the Bob's Game drama for a while now, and it's just taken another weird/potentially controversial turn. After sealing himself in his bedroom (see: above) in a bid to obtain a development kit from Nintendo, Bob's Game creator Robert Pelloni recently threatened to release his "masterpiece" on a DSi-compatible flash cart, thus "significantly cut[ting] into Nintendo's bottom line."
Now, in a selectbutton forum thread, Pelloni claims that a Chinese firm has approached him and offered to release Bob's Game on a flash cart, and says that a distribution deal with Wal-Mart could be on the cards.
Pelloni argues that such a move means both parties win: he gets his game onto store shelves, while the mysterious Chinese company has a legitimate reason to sell a flash cart in a major retailer. We would argue that his actions are quickly severing any potential future ties that could exist between himself and Nintendo.
We also advise giving the thread in question a quick read, if only for the part where Pelloni indirectly compares himself to Shigeru Miyamoto.

I e-mailed his regarding this and he wrote back
"I'm probably not actually going to do that, I'm just shaking the bushes and trying to get their attention. Don't worry about me, I'm not evil (or crazy), and don't worry about the haters, it's actually beneficial. The more people that hate it the better. Just laugh at it, because they have no idea what's coming.
There's a reason for all of this. Trust me. :)"
Like I've said before, I still fully support this guy! And I really do want a chance to be able to play Bob's Game in one way or another at some point! Hopefully soon! I even made a petition that I know will be ignored about it! Please sign it! http://www.petitiononline.com/bobsgame/petition.html

As a former game developer in the early decade I know the process you basically need to do as an independent to get somewhere. This guy is simply an ass. He doesn't get what he wants, so then he resorts to extortion, blackmail, and threats against Nintendo (basically an economic terrorist) to demand what he wants or he'll use less than legal channels to get even and get it published. Had the man not acted like a manchild and bothered to try and submit through 3rd party development houses, and/or try now to get it queued up for a DSIware release he'd be in good standing. I hope he fails in all his endeavors now because if Nintendo were to cater to him, it would open the door for more blackmailers and swindlers to copycat the stupidity to get their way like petulant little babies.

Less then legal channels... You're funny. Flashcarts are legal. If they aren't in your country, it's not a problem with the flashcarts...
And I thought for it to be extortion that Nintendo would have to be losing something, and that it extortion and blackmail are different things... he, silly me.

I don't support extortion or threatening, and the guy seems like a megalomaniac (or overconfident in extreme), I mean, he says that it will be the last great 2D rpg, lol (he may give us a surprise though o_O)
But acording to what I read in his page, he actually have an established developing studio ( it's only him , but an studio anyways), so Nintendo shouldn't be denying the dev kit to him. And Nintendo shouldn't diss the homebrew developers too, I mean, they could be great with the correct tools and support, good things start small, even Nintendo did, they started selling hanafuda cards, and then became the most greatest gaming company.
He should stop doing stupid stuff and go serious, do something like the guys from cave story and make a free version and if it's as good as he says, then success will come eventually.

Cut the guy a break. He has been working hard on the game for 5 years and then he doesn't get any response from Nintendo at his request for the sdk!
I know I would have already put it on a flash cart and had it out there but he prefers to support Nintendo through it all.

No Chinese firm approached him. If this guy's imaginative BS is any indication, the game should be pretty interesting.
On a side note, if Nintendo won't sell us a development kit, could they at least sell me some of those hanafuda cards, I've been playing Touch! GoStop for like 40 hours and I want in on the real deal.

So, like, no one has actually played his game, other than viewing a couple gameplay trailers?
Wouldn't it be ironic if his game was actually about him, Bob, trying to get his DS game published? You would spend an entire 'level' locked in his room as protest.
I'd pirate that.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if there was no game?
Best hoax ever, is what they'd say.
And then Nintendo would sue him to death.

I actually bothered to read the whole thread - about 90% of things Robert says there is an obvious joke.
He's still an ass though.

Nintendo does not comment on rumors or speculation, or negotiate with terrorists.

He's mainly doing all of this to get Nintendo of Japan's attention. NoA is merely a branch so their not gonna pay any attention. He had to pull a big enough stunt that would get enough internet news coverage so the story will eventually make it to Japan. After NoJ sees this it's over, their not gonna sit and let their good name be crushed because some NoA intern is deleting his application submissions. They are the 3rd largest company in Japan. Thats what he's been hinting at this whole time. I figured it out.
He's not crazy, he knows this is a stupid thing to do, but he had to do it or he would never be able to get Nintendo of Japans attention.

Furthermore, it was Nintendo that drove him to do this. If you read his site he explains that he has been trying his hardest for well over a year now to contact Nintendo through official means. He's met with them, talked, did everything they said, and yet almost 2 years later now they still won't take him seriously. He didn't just randomly decide to do this, he's been forced to this point and he has planed for it accordingly. The guy's not stupid, he's not making threats, he's just trying to stir up some noise loud enough for Nintendo of Japan to hear!

This guy is a huge idiot. A small game with two or three Youtube trailers. OMFG STOP THE PRESS! Iv'e seen better made on RPG maker. This guy wants Nintendo to sell his cart? And now he is resorting to black mail? His sorry ass needs to grow up, then mabye Nintendo can get hims sent to adult's prison for the threat. (well mabye not prison, whatever you would get for this kind of black mail).

What a delusional, misguided idiot. Nintendo don't "owe" him anything, and his actions increasingly look like those of nothing more than a spoiled, overgrown child.
So what if he's spent years on this? Maybe he should have first decided to develop it on an open platform, rather than on a proprietary hardware platform, particularly one by a company which has always (for better or worse, at different times) been more locked down and controlling than the others...
You'd think after five years he would have worked that out by now.

When some soon to be attention seeking nobody compares himself to one of the gods of gaming, it's a sign that morons can reach new levels of stupidity quicker than one would think.
Seriously, he's just a money hungry little peon who thinks he has the golden touch. If he's confident that his game is so great, why not release a playable demo and let the people decide, instead of, you know, raising a stink that Nintendo won't support a game with a few Youtube trailers and the biased word of it's creator?

IMHO his blog posts reek of social inaptitude that hinges on mental illness... which saddens me, really. I am still interested to the point of actually buying the game if it gets released. But at this point, it just looks that even if the game was up to it, Pelloni's antics are going to tank the whole thing.
And after acting like this, I'm not really sure any publishers want to work with him anymore. With good reason. And I certainly understand that N would start to be wary about sending the Nitro SDK to a guy like him... Yeah, I don't like it either, but it's not exactly a secret how this business works, and at 25, I think we should expect a little more... "professional" conduct and output from a person who wants to get his project officially published on a closed platform like NDS.
But, maybe it is no surprise if he actually pulled 15 000 hours into it in the duration of 5 years... that means that he has been at it 8+ hours a day, Every. Single. Day. No wonder if things start going haywire in his head...
