With
CES 2009 taking place this week, Energizer's charging stations (which released in October) for the Wii, X360 and PS3 have popped up on our radar. Although we've never felt the need for a PS3 charging station (USB plug-in works just fine, thank you), the battery consumption of the Wiimote and 360 controller have made charge kits -- or, at least, rechargeable batteries -- a necessity in this console generation.
- Wii Energizer Power & Play Charging Station - $40, comes with two battery packs. Extra pack $13.
- X360 Energizer Power & Play Charging Station - $30.
- PS3 Energizer Power & Play Charging Station - $30.
All the units currently have 10% off at Amazon. Nyko also makes a
Wii charge station, and Microsoft has its own
first-party rechargeable battery pack option.

I want to buy one of these chargers, but I'm still undecided. I guess the Energizer charger is a better option than the Nyko and other brands.
But the one I really want to buy is the Sanyo Eneloop charger. It's so nice, because it uses a contact-free electromagnetic tech and it's the only official Nintendo charger.
Anyone here has the Sanyo charger? Is it good?

I can't speak to the wii specific sanyo charger, but I currently use sanyo eneloop AAs in almost all my controllers for wii and 360 and I have been very pleased.
It's a more versatile solution and for the most part I find it to be cheaper than specific charge kits for each console and controller, especially since I can just swap in a fresh set whenever a pair of batteries die on me

I have a bunch of eneloop batteries. They are great! I'd like to get the Wii charger for them as well to save me the step of having to take them out of the wiimotes. I'd definitely recommend the eneloops
j.howlett @ Jan 5th 2009 3:49PM
that's the type of charger i need.

If you're talking about the Wii versions, the Nyko has serious connection issues, it's very difficult to actually get the remote to balance on the contacts long enough to actually get a charge.
Moptimus Slime @ Jan 5th 2009 5:01PM
Go with Nyko. I might have the least fashion sense of any man alive, but even I can appreciate how the color scheme matches my Wiis. I also like the little extra weight (just enough to notice, mind you) the battery packs provide, so it doesnt feel like Im flinging around my pal's old SIXAXIS when I play.
Also, I hate using the condoms, so its perfect for me

What about Rechargeable batteries? I use them for my Wii and my 360 :D
AnonymousFinger @ Jan 5th 2009 3:00PM
I like the idea of charging stations, but I hate having to remove (or not use) the nice rubber grips that come with the new controllers.
Douche Bigalow @ Jan 5th 2009 3:08PM
I have the PS3 charging station, and it works great and looks good.
Chris Are @ Jan 5th 2009 3:19PM
Me too. I realize it might be a bit excessive (w/ the usb charging and such) but it keeps things organized. I don't have to search for a controller or sit two feet away from the screen because I didn't realize the battery was low. My controllers sit in their cradle and the world is at peace.
As far as a Wii charger goes, can they please release one that allows for the condoms?! I looked and I just couldn't find one.

I have one of these for the PS3 and XBOX360. They are hella cool, and really do keep things organized. The PS3 one has USB imputs on the side so you can charge anything that uses a USB. I use it to charge my PS3 headset, and my personal digital camera. It's like a charging hub... it can charge everything. Don't get the pelican ones though, i had one of those and the stupid thing stopped charging after 2 months. With a name like energyzer, hopefully these will last a lot longer.
player66 @ Jan 5th 2009 5:46PM
I was seriously thinking of buying this for the 360, until I saw that they were manufactured by PDP, the company behind that HORRIBLE MGS4 Bluetooth headset. I know the two have nothing to do with each other, but that headset was a piece of junk!
meist3r @ Jan 5th 2009 6:07PM
I own a single Wiimote charger from "BigBen" and that thing stinks. I mean it does it's job but the battery pack has lost about half it's charge already in the not even 10 months I own it, it takes hours to recharge through the USB port on Wii standby (if you turn WiiConnect off it takes almost two days to completely charge).
Given Energizer is actually a battery resale company this might actually be a great alternative.
