The power shots or whatever special ability shots seem kinda silly to me. I want a Mario Tennis game more like the original Game Boy Color or N64 version.

They really didn't make a difference, imo. You could counter most or all of the power shots without having to use the defense shot (though with varying negative side effects), and in Doubles (which is the cooler way to play) it really isn't all that, just something to keep people on their toes

This looks like a lot of fun. I owned and loved the N64 original, but couldn't convince myself to buy the Cube version.

This could be the chance to totally redeem myself.

So many of those GC Mario games were like "v1.5"s of the N64 versions. But not even 1.5s . . . more like 1.2s, or, in some cases 0.8s, if you catch my drift.

Oh, right, redemption: yes, I'm with you there, bro . . . with you all the way.

I noticed 7 titles total at the end of the clip for the Play On Wii series. What are all of them?

Have both the Pikmins, have Jungle Beat, not interested in console non-RPG Mario Tennises, never really interested enough to buy Chibi Robo, have Metroid Prime 1 and I'm doing quite alright without owning Metroid Prime 2.

Good, looks like I don't need any of these re-releases. :)

And thanks for the list.

I understand remaking Pikmin, Metroid, (maybe) DK, and in the future (undoubtedly) Wind Waker. But why tennis? Don't they usually outsource developers for these spin-off sports games anyway? What's wrong with making a new Mario tennis game?

This seems a little odd to me. Maybe they're just testing the waters.

you could be right. maybe they just wanna test the waters and see if its safe to dive right into it. also wasn't Mario power tennis pretty darn popular in the GCN era? if so then that's the perfect way to test the waters. from what i've heard the tennis game in Wii sports was awesome. if Ninty adds online support and a few other nices touches to the game it could turn out to be a very good investment for whomever should purchase this GC remake.

I'm just giggling at the world "non-embeddable".

There's a Joan Collins joke in there somewhere.

Oh, right: Mario Tennis. Looks good.

"We hope mixing up our shots actually has an effect on the game, because we always found Wii Sports tennis to be not-quite-as-advertised in this respect (though we're willing to accept we just may be rubbish at Wii Sports tennis)."

Correct, you must be rubbish at Wii Sports tennis. Control over your ball placement and shot type (lob, net, curve, low-bouncer, etc) means everything, especially when playing against a high-level computer.
