Skate 2 demo coming Thursday
We tend to think of demos as free gifts from the gaming overlords, which would make the Skate 2 demo coming on Thursday to Xbox Live a gift within a gift, like a Hickory Farms sampler wrapped in a Snuggie. Just for downloading the demo and registering here, you could win MS points and, curiously, one of six custom Skate 2 skateboards, which should look great sitting idly in your garage.
Thanks to the Thursday placement, we're assuming this'll pop up simultaneously on PSN, just without all the free prizes.

Sweeeet. I love skate.
Ihavepants @ Jan 5th 2009 8:50PM
In your comment I read "skate" as "cake" for some reason...
jarhead906 @ Jan 5th 2009 9:06PM
Wow that's trippy. I did too.
Subliminal gaming has us in its grasp.
shane86 @ Jan 5th 2009 9:05PM
I love cake too
Wiinterfang @ Jan 5th 2009 9:06PM
I wish they where a Food that rhymes with Tony Hawk.
Linkario @ Jan 5th 2009 9:16PM
THE CAKE IS A LIE!!!!!!!11!!1!
You know me @ Jan 5th 2009 11:16PM
The cake had to do with the companion cube on his avatar

Love Skate (playing now-ish), though I hate how every character model looked like a GTA III hobo with a penchant for serial-rape and child abduction.
2 looks mighty swell, off the board and female pros/creations make it an instant purchase for me.

"I hate how every character model looked like a GTA III hobo with a penchant for serial-rape and child abduction".
Now I have to play this game.
Levi @ Jan 5th 2009 8:14PM
I've had a used copy of Skate for a while and I still haven't tried it out yet. I've been glued to Crash Commando. Sounds like they're doing good things with Skate 2 though, I'm interested.
j.howlett @ Jan 5th 2009 8:17PM
crash commando is pretty addictive
Cal @ Jan 5th 2009 8:21PM
Bit slow to post this weren't you?
Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Jan 5th 2009 8:22PM
I like skateboarding games but sadly some of them have been very bad or mediocre. The last one I tried was Project 8.Loved the bugs like when you touched a fire hydrant, your character is launched to space.
shane86 @ Jan 5th 2009 8:31PM
The first skate was the best skating game ever. This will be just as good, if not better.
Snowblind @ Jan 5th 2009 8:35PM
I had loads of fun in the Project 8 demo launching my character around. Almost bought the game just because of that..
But yeah, Skate really put the Tony Hawk series to shame, to the point where they're not even releasing another one this year because they know they can't compete.
Prime @ Jan 5th 2009 8:51PM
the link won't work
sk8monroe81 @ Jan 5th 2009 9:04PM
now if only sony could follow the lead of other companies that release their demos before a game is released.
maybe i can try LBP when LBP 2 comes out?
j.howlett @ Jan 5th 2009 9:29PM
in the time being knock yourself out with the halo 3 and gears demos
sk8monroe81 @ Jan 5th 2009 9:33PM
you might think its funny.
but sony may not think so when the ps3 goes bankrupt like the original xbox did.
i am only saying things that would be better for us gamers...
would you not like to see demos on PSN before a game is released?
why are you arguing about something that would benefit us all..
damn fanboys will be demise of the ps3 because they stand behind sony and dont talk back.
and remember halo 3 and gears 2 have sold over 12 million copies on 1 console to date so far...
LBP is at 1 million.....
what game would you say needs a demo more??
ms doesnt need to change this to help sales.
i was saying something that would help sony sales and marketing.
ice~ @ Jan 5th 2009 9:34PM
Lol ohhh he went there
j.howlett @ Jan 5th 2009 9:41PM
i tried to wait for you to make a couple post in a row but ice broke it up. it kind of sucks but at least there will be a demo. no matter when it's released though it won't stop the trolling. so we have to wait for the idiots claiming to have played the demo to continue to say it sucks as i'm sure they'll keep up regardless
soviet chick @ Jan 5th 2009 9:46PM
So few well realized points...
So many Line Breaks...
LBP is a great game br / GameCrazy lets you play games before buying br / Play LittleBigPlanet at GameCrazy
sk8monroe81 @ Jan 5th 2009 10:20PM
soviet- i have joystiq habits as howlett pointed out.. lol
one of them being line breaks. another being multiple posts. i guess i dont get it out on the first try ...lol.
and whats gamecrazy anyway?
it gets crazy to me though when i am wanting more PSN demos and some people still want to argue about that point with me...
Levi @ Jan 5th 2009 10:49PM
Dude, I don't even know what you said, but it was annoying.
soviet chick @ Jan 5th 2009 10:53PM
It's a new/used game shop (much like GameStop) though it is usually attached to Hollywood Video (a rental shop). It's mostly in the Western US though, I think it only recently broke into New England and further southeast even more recently.
sk8monroe81 @ Jan 5th 2009 11:13PM
hollywood video has pretty much gone under in southern california. the ones around here have closed.
only blockbuster video now.
thats cool to get to try a game first....
pibs @ Jan 6th 2009 2:42AM
Its a shame too, Game Crazy had better trade-in credit than Gamestop. If you are in So-Cal be on the look out for Play N Trade. They are solely based on the idea of play before you buy.
Lowery 1K @ Jan 6th 2009 1:36PM
we have one here in Orlando
Biff_McFresh @ Jan 6th 2009 10:56AM
Snuggie, ahhh... the towel/blanket you can wear.
Logantrox @ Jan 7th 2009 6:17PM
No PS3 love? My fifth Xbox died, so I will have to resort to playing it on the "Station" for the time being.
