I obviously don't remember by heard but my friend and I "broke" the MegaMan 3 colored dot code by writing down differences after things like going from 3 to 2 lives, beating a boss, getting a weapon, etc. After that, we could quickly jump to any point in the game with any number of lives.

I don't remember any except holding A+Start in Super Mario Bros at the game over screen to start off on the level you died on instead of the beginning.
...was that even a cheat code?

the ABBA Ikari II code actually was a holdover from the original, which would allow you to continue endlessly up until the 4th level. With each level taking about 30-45 minutes to complete, it was a boon to have.

Yeah, I was about to say the same thing. It's always been the Ikari Warriors code. I didn't even know anyone who had the sequel.

l,r,l,r,l,r,A - the konami code too, there were several that involved hitting each direction in sequence followed by the face buttons in sequence too. TMNT: tournament fighters. I played that fighter way too stinking much.

Capcom had a cod ethat was recycled a little bit too. down, r, up, l, Y, B.... though I only remember Street Fighter II(also turbo and super) and possibly one Mega Man game that used it.

Two that stick out most in my mind (other than the Konami code) are JUSTIN BAILEY for Metroid and ICARUS FIGHTS MEDUSA ANGELS for Kid Icarus. The real funny thing about that is I didn't own either of these games until well after the SNES was out, but new the codes from renting them when the games were in their prime.

19, 65, 9, 17 , level select in Sonic 2. :P Also B, A, Right, A, C, Up, Down, A (BARACUDA) for level select in Sonic 3D Blast.

I remember the password for the last level in Mega Man for Game Boy. Let's see if I can recreate it here. :P

Putting your name as Zelda in the first Zelda to start with major hearts and equipment, as I remember it. Never did actually own that game, just lusted after it and its gold cartridge.
