Crayon Physics Deluxe to (finally) be released Jan. 7

If you've noticed a little extra spring in our step, it may be because we're just one day away from the release of Crayon Physics Deluxe. You'll be able to pick the game up right here tomorrow, January 7th, for the sure-to-be-a-bargain price of $19.95.
It's not that we're necessarily excited for the game itself -- serene, addictive crayon-based physics sims are a dime-a-dozen these days -- we're just praying there's more of that delightful music in the full version. Check the video after the jump if you don't know what music we're talking about. Just be prepared to be whisked into a magical dreamscape where anything is possible.

I thought it was going to be free. :(

They are sooooooo ripping of ScribbleNauts
Joe H @ Jan 6th 2009 5:52PM
Except for the fact that this game had a prototype in June 2007, and most of the drawing-based physics games to come out since were in response to this. Not to mention in this you draw boxes, in Scribblenauts you write words that turn into objects.
Anyway, for the preorderers the game is out, and it is a blast on a tablet PC. It might be a little more difficult with a mouse.
Jason @ Jan 6th 2009 6:52PM
Ummm...no. Crayon Physics has been around LONG since Scribblenauts was announced..if anything, Scribblenauts is taking ideas (mind you, not ripping off) from Crayon Physics and such games. Please think before posting, thanks
Moptimus Slime @ Jan 6th 2009 6:03PM
meh, I guess so. So its basically Line Rider with shapes?
Zetro @ Jan 6th 2009 5:42PM
I knew it wasnt gonna be free, but still looking forward to it.

Whats the requirements for this game? Doesn't look very straining, but I have a crappy video card.
Joe H @ Jan 6th 2009 5:54PM
I'm not sure of the requirements, but my tablet has a 1.3GHz Ultra Low Voltage Core 2 Duo and ATI x1250 integrated graphics, plus 3 GB of RAM. The video chip is clearly the limiting factor for me, and I can run it fine.
If you want a point of reference, my GPU score in Windows 7 is a 2.4 and gaming graphics is a 3.1 (seems backwards to me, but it IS a beta OS).

0.0 !
That game looks amazing. I need to buy it now
Strategy_Panda (The Sandwich Poisoning Crew) @ Jan 6th 2009 5:56PM
will this game be available via steam?
Haggard @ Jan 6th 2009 6:05PM
No idea, a lot of indie projects do go that way and it might be smarter, because getting on Steam's store page is an easy way of getting ten million people to notice your game.
Strategy_Panda (The Sandwich Poisoning Crew) @ Jan 6th 2009 6:08PM
I looked on the forums quickly, and it seems like the developer is not interested in distributing through steam at this time.
He is currently using Paypal for the pre-order and will be emailing a link to all that bought the pre-order so they can download tomorrow.

I took those two circles completely the wrong way.

I speck them to jiggle, needless to say I was entirely dissapointed.
Joe H @ Jan 6th 2009 5:55PM
Also, I'm not sure why this post isn't using the final version trailer.

That could make a pretty sweet DS series
Joe H @ Jan 6th 2009 5:57PM
There's a homebrew ripoff of it for the DS.
There's also a iPhone port by Hudson, if you want this game on the go.
James @ Jan 6th 2009 6:09PM
I got the game, and it's GREAT! No lie, support this guy and do yourself a favor and buy this game!
scy1192 @ Jan 6th 2009 6:26PM
If you want a free physics-based game, try phun. It's like crayon physics, only there are no goals and it's more of a sandbox.
jmarto @ Jan 6th 2009 6:26PM
Can't wait
Ficken @ Jan 6th 2009 6:47PM
Played the original "beta" levels to death last year around this time! Unfortunatley no Mac love and I'm not paying $20 to play on school computers everyonce and a while. With the free "beta" it was perfect for just that. Heres to a Mac port.
Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Jan 6th 2009 6:53PM
Reminds me of phun.
Do want but where do I get a touch screen for my monitor?
microshocky @ Jan 6th 2009 6:59PM
Quite idiotic not to put it on Steam, basically losing himself sales.
I'm not going to buy it thru him, and i probably would if it was on steam
Josh @ Jan 6th 2009 7:13PM
Dude wtf that's awesome.
Wiinterfang @ Jan 6th 2009 7:20PM
WOW O_O.
*not digging the music though*
Courtney @ Jan 6th 2009 8:43PM
Hell yes! I was just wondering what the status of this game was, thinking of games I had heard of in 08 but hadn't been released yet.
Paragon @ Jan 6th 2009 9:09PM
I prefer Marker World which is another similar game.
I forget the site to get it, google for it.
Joe @ Jan 6th 2009 9:10PM

Prefer it to the original Crayon Physics I guess? I think you haven't played Deluxe.
JoeTheBlow @ Jan 7th 2009 5:09AM
