Eurogamer claims a source close to Sony has indicated that if the Killzone 2 demo clears QA, it'll "almost certainly" be released in Europe before the game storms store shelves. This information comes hot on the heels of Sony America's confirmation that a North American demo will not be available until after the game launches on February 27.
Now, here's where wordplay makes the situation sticky. Killzone 2 doesn't currently have a clear release date in Europe. So, depending on when Europe actually gets an official date, the demo and game could very well be out in North America before Europe enters the zone of killing.

YA RLY! As far as gameplay goes, I only watched someone else play so I dont know. Cover mechanics seems good but I'm used to the 3rd person cover system from Gears, rather than the 1st person cam they use.

IDK apparently the F word is a bannable offense, especially if you are not in fact the first.

It's all your fault Obie, you beat me by a minute, if I would have actually being the first, everybody will bow down to my might.

So, Sony takes their first real killer app in almost a year, a game hyped since BEFORE the launch of the console. A game that just MIGHT actually live up to the insanely high bar set for it. A game that could go a long way to changing the fortunes of the PS3 possibly... and they restrict the demo to people who already purchase it. Brillant!
If it's anywhere near the hype they should have kiosks shipped to every corner of the globe, they should give it away with samples of tide. Hell, mail DVD's with video's of the game play like AOL used to whore their disk. Hire a firm to do a halo campaign. It's aggravating, they really do need a shake up.

I know, but they need to BUILD HYPE, a games success (like movies) is almost entirely judged from first week sales. Just look at lbp, great game, but it is known to almost everyone (that follows this stuff) as a "flop", and it wont matter if it sells a half million copies next month, it will still be known as a flop.
All I am saying is the last thing sony needs is another failure, whether it's actual or perceived is irrelevant.
So get me the damn demo and get me excited, THEN I'll preorder it!

You're not, I'm just force to travel to a store, out down $5, travel home, unlock and download the demo, travel back to the store and haggle with employee's to refund my money... sounds like fun.
Mirror's Edge, I clicked download, and then started playing. Loved the demo, bought the game.

So in that case, download the demo when it comes out, and buy the game if you like it. Just like everyone else is saying, console demos don't usually come out before the game. Or at least, they come out after the game more often than before. Dead Space, MGS4, Mega Man 9.
You're pretty much complaining that you MIGHT not be able to play the game and THEN buy it on release day. That's just stupid. If you're not interested enough in the game to buy it on release day based on what you know, you shouldn't be whining about when the demo comes out.
I hate it. All the kids on Joystiq act like the world fucking owes them everything right now for free. So childish.

Oh man, what a privilege. Our Euro friends might get to play a *GASP*... demo. Or, I *get* to buy the privilege here in the states.

@Tony: I haven't pre-ordered yet because I'm really on the fence about it. I didn't hate the first one, but it really wasn't that great either. If Sony is sure that it's a vast improvement from the first, than they should be begging people to play the demo. In fact, it worries me some that they aren't trying to change the image of the first by offering a fucking *awesome* demo to everyone to win them over and instead only letting people that would buy the game anyways no matter what have a chance at the demo.
I wasn't aware you can get your $5 back. Last time I reserved something and changed my mind they said I could only use as store credit.

yeah, you can get your money back, they just didnt want you to change your preorder because it hurts their personal numbers.
as for the demo being available to everyone. its only exclusive for the preorder people up until the game is released. once the game is released, there will be a demo for everyone.
as for being on the fence for this game. everything i have heard and read about this game is amazingly positive. and thats not just coming from one source its coming from multiple sources. i like the website intergration, clan ladder system with valor points, the class systems with interchangeable perks. visually its probably one of the most graphically intense games there is. i started out being like you, but the more i did my research, the more i grew excited for this game

Actually I feel as though the first Killzone was more like Haze.
But this just looks awesome. And Guerrilla KNOWS how to make good action games. There were a lot of "OH SNAP!" moments in Killzone: Liberation (like the final boss).

Even though Haze is everyone's whipping boy I have to say that it was a fun and neat little game. I'm not saying it's a good game or even a great game but I had fun with it. I have fun with most games I play even if I don't really like them or if I consider them overrated. I just enjoying playing games. I have even been enjoying the pitiful game Novastrike.

Alien Lord, you are almost the most annoying troll at Joystiq. Congratz, you've made #2 right behind Lord Vesper. You guys should start a brigade. You could be [Lordz]AlienTroll and [Lordz]VesperTroll. I can see you guys buying a PS3 and KZ2 just to flood the servers with annoying anti-Sony bullshit. Give it a rest dude. Just shut the fuck up and let us play games. We didn't do anything to you and your precious 360 and Halo, so fuck off.

Is that really the norm? There are plenty of games on the 360 and PS3 that don't get demos until the game is released, and some don't get any at all (e.g. GoW 2). And the Wii doesn't have demos of any kind.
The reality is that this public-demo-after-release, which is actually quite normal, is really just an excuse for the fanboys to start another flame war over a PS3 game. That's it.
