PETA gives Fable 2 its seal of approval, chicken kicking included

Looks like PETA has jumped into the yearly award gifting by announcing that the video game they feel most deserving of the title "Most Animal-Friendly Game of 2008" is Fable 2. Chosen by the PETA folks because Fable 2 carries a "strong pro-vegetarian theme" that "teaches gamers the real-life benefits of a vegetarian diet" through the game's purity points. How nice!

We'd agree with the PETA folks on the Fable 2 nod if it wasn't for a few not so animal friendly themes in the Albion world. You know, things like rewarding players with Gamerscore for kicking chickens, killing fluffy rabbits, eating crunchy chickadees and abusing your dog. True, if you do any of these activities, you'll build up your evil-ometer, but the fact that they're in the game PETA calls 2008's most "Animal-Friendly Game", well ... that's just odd. We guess vegetable purity points clouded their chicken kicking judgment.

Agreed, everybody hate PETA so them enjoying this game makes me hatee it more.

Considering that Peta is a hypocritical organization, this award is justified.

Well it's PETA for goodness sake. They're a bunch of loonies that think we shouldn't have pets but it's okay for them to. Viva Pinata would have been a better choice for them since you only eat lollies and spend money heeling the sick animals on your farm.

Yah but in Party Animals you shoot missiles at eachother. That isn't exactly Pinata friendly fun!

And in VP you can make the offspring interbreed with their own parents and siblings. And kill them and watch the other Pinata's come along and scoff up the remains like ravenous scavengers.

Ah, good times.

I especially liked the animal friendly part where you get an achievement for killing a helpless bunny rabbit.

As much as I dislike PETA's hypocritical ways, their point wasn't that the game was an animal paradise, but that it rewarded animal kidness and punished animal cruelty. They liked the world where animal eaters were fat and evil and tofu eaters and dog lovers were the kind heroes.

I made sure I earned my Chicken Kicker nickname.
I'll even have Domino's Chicken Kickers for dinner.

I thinks it's safe to say that no one is going to accuse PETA of being rational.

I guess Fable 2 does create a strong bond with your dog. Did for me anyway.

My friend still hasn't got over the loss of his dog, and now he claims this grey paw icon appears on the maps just to taunt him.

I'm sure PETA endorses the chicken kicking and bunny killing. They seem to love killing animals, after all.

im so sick of their fucking animal cruelty horse shit. We watched a video today in APS class (american political science) about PETA members pouring red paint all over themselves and running crazy around a MACYs store for selling fur coats. goddamn ridiculous.
