LittleBigPlanet shifts over 200K copies in UK
Media Molecule's platformer and form-your-own-platter, LittleBigPlanet, has earned itself "Gold" status in the UK, as awarded by the ELSPA group to titles that sell over 200,000 copies. As Edge Online points out, this comes after the game fell out of the all-format top ten just one week after its fourth-place debut. Sales are said to have been buoyed by a strong TV advertising campaign and, presumably, mankind's inalienable love for squishy sack persons.
Other notable recipients of the gold in them thar prestigious hills are Bethesda's post-apocalyptic Fallout 3, Ubisoft's pre-apocalyptic Far Cry 2 and Blizzard's socially apocalyptic Wrath of the Lich King. ELSPA also awarded "Platinum" status -- that's for selling between 300,000 and 600,000 units -- to Fable 2, which can be apocalyptic if you play as a complete bastard.

Hmmm Mulholland Drive reminds me those scenes between Naomi Watts and Laura Helena Harring and then ... :O
... Man how you can not be enjoying LBP? Awesome and fun game :)

Damn my comment was for Shagittarius.
Down vote this please :)

How can you tell when you've beat this game? I forced myself to play through it but I can't tell if I've finished it or not.
Do I need to collect more stamps and set pieces to unlock more areas or do you just odwnload user made stuff.
I'm being entirely serious here, I'd like to move it to my finished pile but I don't know if I'm done even though there seems to be no more available levels.
I read the manual and it doesn't say requirements other than completing levels to move on.
Please help.
sicsided @ Jan 7th 2009 11:11AM
just have fun
Shagittarius @ Jan 7th 2009 11:13AM
Let me reiterate. I'm not enjoying this game, but I want to play through it so I can see what it offers. So how do I know when I'm finished? Is there an ending?
sicsided @ Jan 7th 2009 11:14AM
so you like S&M?
Shagittarius @ Jan 7th 2009 11:17AM
No, that's why I want to know if I've finished it. Shall we go round and round?
sicsided @ Jan 7th 2009 11:19AM
I think that's something you need to discover for yourself ;)
Shagittarius @ Jan 7th 2009 11:21AM
It's a platformer not Mulholland Drive, just tell me if there's an ending.
Anam @ Jan 7th 2009 11:23AM
***SPOILERS***
If you have beaten the collector than you have completed all of the main levels of the game. A total of 22 levels if memory serves. There are additional minigame levels that you can unlock by collecting keys in the main levels.
And of course you can attempt to beat all the levels without dying (fun) and try to get 100% of the items in the levels (less fun). But even with these extra objectives, the game is short. Real short.
Shagittarius @ Jan 7th 2009 11:24AM
I love you Anam thanks! Moving it to the completed pile.
Anam @ Jan 7th 2009 11:24AM
...unless of course there are secrets I am not currently aware of. I really, really hope that is the case.
InFaMoUs1- @ Jan 7th 2009 11:27AM

Poisoned Al @ Jan 7th 2009 12:21PM
Huh? It's like tying to "beat" Gary's mod.
Hyams @ Jan 7th 2009 12:30PM
Protip: games are about having fun. If you're not enjoying yourself, stop.
Popfrogs @ Jan 7th 2009 12:58PM
Hi, not sure if you're aware of this, but there's an online portion of the game and a create mode. You can play new levels that people make daily and there are literally thousands of them. When you choose to play levels online, sometimes you will join people and they will join you, thus making it more fun.
However, you seem to have difficulty with fun, so maybe you should just move the game to your "finished pile".
Anam @ Jan 7th 2009 12:59PM
What is with these comments? He tried it, didn't care for it, wants to know if there was more he missed. What is not to understand?
Cellien @ Jan 7th 2009 12:59PM
@hyams: Yep, I quit playing LBP months ago because of this. Just not that fun. :\
Deeznuts420 @ Jan 7th 2009 11:08AM

FreakyJP @ Jan 7th 2009 11:12AM
I wonder how many of those were shipped outside the UK. With the low pond and rediculous low prices of games in the UK (promotions etc) I know many people, inc me, who bought a copy via webshops in the UK for +- $25 (whereas here in Belgium the game costs €70)
InFaMoUs1- @ Jan 7th 2009 11:31AM
give the game time it will do awesome
Eleniel @ Jan 7th 2009 11:37AM
The world is using "humankind" now. Please update your style manual. =/
Shangheli @ Jan 7th 2009 11:39AM
So I take it LBP2 is cancelled?
Hyams @ Jan 7th 2009 12:28PM
Doubt it. It's selling well. It'll come along sooner or later.
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Jan 7th 2009 12:40PM
LBP2 probably wont be out until 2011 or so.......but it WILL be out.......
Charlie_Six @ Jan 7th 2009 9:53PM
I just hope it has Megaman- and Bionic Commando-like features. Must... shoot... things....
and the paintinator don't cut it. :P
Nomi @ Jan 7th 2009 11:50AM
I loved this game. Almost have platinum trophy...and nice metal gear pack that just came out (funny story line too). I hope they make more for sony exclusives.. Killzone, Uncharted...Resistance.
j.howlett @ Jan 7th 2009 2:11PM
i love it also. they have that resistance costume and i think i saw some killzone stuff before so maybe. imagine a sackboy with the half tuck
Adolph @ Jan 7th 2009 11:50AM
Wake me up when LBP sells 1 Million in UK now that will be something to celebrate.
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Jan 7th 2009 11:51AM
well isnt that nice..........still wont shut the naysayers up........as people fail to realize LBP is a LONG-TERM selling title........it'll hit 3-4 Million Worldwide by 2010 I think........
Hyams @ Jan 7th 2009 12:27PM
I doubt it'll hit 4 million, but 3 million is very possible.
It's almost at 2 million according to VGChartz, and around another million during 2009 sounds about right to me.
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Jan 7th 2009 12:39PM
yea I'm being positive tho........lol.......
I think it will hit 3.4 Million before Summer tho...
sk8monroe81 @ Jan 7th 2009 3:21PM
i thought it would be the first ps3 game to 5 million.
but now im thinking of gt5... but thats looking dismall now too.
but i dont know if any ps3 game will sell 5 million copies until the install base hits 25-30 million since ps3 customers seem to buy less games.
Popfrogs @ Jan 7th 2009 1:02PM
The great thing about LBP is the more players that get it (and get into it) the better it becomes. Even without content packages, people are learning to do very creative things with the build engine.
I've even seen some levels I played previously get updated with paintenator sections (the paintball gun mechanic added with the MGS level pack).
Brucie_K @ Jan 7th 2009 1:15PM
GOLD!
Always believe in your soul, LittleBigPlanet.
You've got the power to know you're indestructible.
Always believe it...
Ludwig Kietzmann @ Jan 7th 2009 2:22PM
Thanks, I really needed that stuck in my head ALL DAY.
Brucie_K @ Jan 7th 2009 3:44PM
It's worth it.
colinbell @ Jan 7th 2009 2:04PM
hmm...it should soon overhaul sales of Mass effect and Bioshock, and already double the sales of Ninja Gaiden 2 and Lost Odyssey. Not bad for a "failure". Hope more people discover this game and Valkyria, excellent and innovative titles both of them
Alien Lord @ Jan 7th 2009 2:53PM
It's little surprise Fable 2 earned Platinum status and Fallout 3 getting gold status isn't a surprise either.
SteveM @ Jan 7th 2009 3:03PM
Something to bear in mind about LBP: when it dropped out of the chart most retailers discounted it to a ridiculous degree. It's perfectly possible to pick it up for less than £20 with some places going as low as £16. To put that in context the platinum series of games goes for £20... It's not surprising that it sold a fair number of copies at that price point really.
sk8monroe81 @ Jan 7th 2009 3:41PM
if the retailers did the same thing with fable 2 for example it would have sold many more copies.
LBP was $ 40 on amazon.com 2 times around the holidays and sold out at that price.
i wonder how many they sold.
i wonder how many less they would have sold at $ 60.
but the game still sold 1.5 million copies regardless.
its hard to chop down the price sold.
how many copies of halo 2 sold for $ 10 - $ 20 ??
Dan CiTi @ Jan 7th 2009 4:50PM
EPIC FLOP
