Media Molecule's platformer and form-your-own-platter, LittleBigPlanet, has earned itself "Gold" status in the UK, as awarded by the ELSPA group to titles that sell over 200,000 copies. As Edge Online points out, this comes after the game fell out of the all-format top ten just one week after its fourth-place debut. Sales are said to have been buoyed by a strong TV advertising campaign and, presumably, mankind's inalienable love for squishy sack persons.
Other notable recipients of the gold in them thar prestigious hills are Bethesda's post-apocalyptic Fallout 3, Ubisoft's pre-apocalyptic Far Cry 2 and Blizzard's socially apocalyptic Wrath of the Lich King. ELSPA also awarded "Platinum" status -- that's for selling between 300,000 and 600,000 units -- to Fable 2, which can be apocalyptic if you play as a complete bastard.

How can you tell when you've beat this game? I forced myself to play through it but I can't tell if I've finished it or not.
Do I need to collect more stamps and set pieces to unlock more areas or do you just odwnload user made stuff.
I'm being entirely serious here, I'd like to move it to my finished pile but I don't know if I'm done even though there seems to be no more available levels.
I read the manual and it doesn't say requirements other than completing levels to move on.
Please help.

Let me reiterate. I'm not enjoying this game, but I want to play through it so I can see what it offers. So how do I know when I'm finished? Is there an ending?

No, that's why I want to know if I've finished it. Shall we go round and round?

It's a platformer not Mulholland Drive, just tell me if there's an ending.

***SPOILERS***
If you have beaten the collector than you have completed all of the main levels of the game. A total of 22 levels if memory serves. There are additional minigame levels that you can unlock by collecting keys in the main levels.
And of course you can attempt to beat all the levels without dying (fun) and try to get 100% of the items in the levels (less fun). But even with these extra objectives, the game is short. Real short.

Hi, not sure if you're aware of this, but there's an online portion of the game and a create mode. You can play new levels that people make daily and there are literally thousands of them. When you choose to play levels online, sometimes you will join people and they will join you, thus making it more fun.
However, you seem to have difficulty with fun, so maybe you should just move the game to your "finished pile".

I wonder how many of those were shipped outside the UK. With the low pond and rediculous low prices of games in the UK (promotions etc) I know many people, inc me, who bought a copy via webshops in the UK for +- $25 (whereas here in Belgium the game costs €70)

i thought it would be the first ps3 game to 5 million.
but now im thinking of gt5... but thats looking dismall now too.
but i dont know if any ps3 game will sell 5 million copies until the install base hits 25-30 million since ps3 customers seem to buy less games.

The great thing about LBP is the more players that get it (and get into it) the better it becomes. Even without content packages, people are learning to do very creative things with the build engine.
I've even seen some levels I played previously get updated with paintenator sections (the paintball gun mechanic added with the MGS level pack).

hmm...it should soon overhaul sales of Mass effect and Bioshock, and already double the sales of Ninja Gaiden 2 and Lost Odyssey. Not bad for a "failure". Hope more people discover this game and Valkyria, excellent and innovative titles both of them

It's little surprise Fable 2 earned Platinum status and Fallout 3 getting gold status isn't a surprise either.

Something to bear in mind about LBP: when it dropped out of the chart most retailers discounted it to a ridiculous degree. It's perfectly possible to pick it up for less than £20 with some places going as low as £16. To put that in context the platinum series of games goes for £20... It's not surprising that it sold a fair number of copies at that price point really.

if the retailers did the same thing with fable 2 for example it would have sold many more copies.
LBP was $ 40 on amazon.com 2 times around the holidays and sold out at that price.
i wonder how many they sold.
i wonder how many less they would have sold at $ 60.
but the game still sold 1.5 million copies regardless.
its hard to chop down the price sold.
how many copies of halo 2 sold for $ 10 - $ 20 ??
