Red Bull space, new content hitting Home this week

The PlayStation Blog has updated with word that the previously uncovered Red Bull space will be debuting in Home this week. Home-bodies will be able to take part in competitive, checkpoint-based air races within the space, and Sony has alluded to there being more Red Bull themed "events" forthcoming.
Clothing brands Diesel and Linge Roset will also be getting their own dedicated storefronts in Home's Mall, something that has already taken place in Europe. If spending $.49 on designer duds isn't your thing, two Resident Evil: Degeneration T-Shirts will be added to the regular ol' clothing shop, so you can become a walking advertisement instead (and for free).

Quincys on a plane?
zuburi @ Jan 7th 2009 5:47PM
GET THESE MOTHERFUCKIN' QUINCYS OFF THIS MOTHERFUCKIN' PLANE!
Esat Dedezade @ Jan 7th 2009 6:17PM
Freaking perverts out is the ony remotely entertaining thing on the disaster that is Home.
I would post a pic of my Quincy but it will make you scream for the rest of your life.
knighty (GT: ZeraKnight) @ Jan 7th 2009 5:35PM
I want to play this :(
Miguel @ Jan 7th 2009 5:35PM
I cant believe that there are really people who will pay real money for these virtual goods? Seems completely pointless to me, like the rest of PS Home.
Besides adding a lot more activities to Home, I think home would be more fun if they had "free" virtual money that you could earn by doing things in Home, like winning bowling contests, selling stuff, or doing other sorts of tasks. Then maybe even allow you to bet the virtual dollars on pool or maybe in a virtual casino. Now that might make home more entertaining.
Tez @ Jan 7th 2009 6:05PM
While I agree, there's no point in dwelling on it; there are people who will buy anything. I saw people dressed in the Santa outfits over the holidays. They spent, what, $5 to do the running man as Santa?
People even bought horse armor.
Tez @ Jan 7th 2009 6:06PM
Forgot to add, there's no point in being angry at Sony over it, either (not to say you are, I'm just speaking generally because there seems to always be an uproar about it). There are people who will buy anything, and Sony's giving them something to buy so the money goes to them. Wouldn't you do the same? I would. If silly people want to give me money for silly things, I'd let them.
Miguel @ Jan 7th 2009 6:11PM
Yeah, im not angry or upset about it, I just feel they could bring more value to the application by providing things for "free". They are already supporting Home with ads so its not like they don't have a revenue stream.
Im just saying a lot more people will probably spend/gamble virtual money for cool activies/goods than would spend real money.
Napalm @ Jan 7th 2009 6:37PM
Sure virtual money is a good concept on first sight but what's the point of getting it? Bragging rights?
There's got to be an objective, just like any MMO has one (I suppose). Besides that would contradict with one of Home's points which is make real money from those items you suggest they give for free.
The focus is on the community and social aspect of gaming and it should remain at that. It's undoubtedly a risky idea from Sony mainly because the target audience is people that overall have extremely short attention spans and will probably be bored in no time, never to return.
IMO, Home is only going to succeed if Sony keeps adding games and related content around the environment to give a reason for people to go back.
At least for me I'll boot it once more just to check out this game.
Finally where the hell are Uncharted and Warhawk rooms for Europe, Sony?
PhydeWice @ Jan 7th 2009 6:48PM
It's worked well so far for all those Korean MMOs.
Little Big PSN ID: johnnynumber5 @ Jan 7th 2009 6:57PM
I think Home is pretty neat and more content is welcome as far as I'm concerned. I haven't paid for a single thing and have got to do everything in the game that people who choose to pay have done. Maybe except furnish my apartment or buy another apartment.
You know what I would buy?
I would buy a bowling lane, pool table, arcade machine, chess board and any other fun little game for my apartment. Now that shit would be tight.
Rob @ Jan 8th 2009 9:28AM
@Napalm:
What's the point of trophies? Don't underestimate bragging rights.
Hala Madrid!! (Somebody get me a tie! And it sure as hell better be red!) @ Jan 7th 2009 5:39PM
About fucking time!
I'm tired of owning everybody at bowling.
umm....hello??? @ Jan 7th 2009 7:58PM
umm....yeah, so now we can wait in long virtual lines to get on a plane to race someone...yay!
J-Link @ Jan 7th 2009 5:45PM
Sounds good for HOME users, there just better nor be lines.
Tez @ Jan 7th 2009 6:07PM
God, that just occurred to me. I bet there WILL be lines because they will want you to be able to watch people flying around the island. FFFFFUUUUUUU-
jmarto @ Jan 7th 2009 5:47PM
Finally, something to do...but knowing Home right now it will probably only let one person fly one of lets say two planes at a time.
BIGGEN (LIVE-PSN: BIGGEN1103) @ Jan 7th 2009 5:48PM
me luv the red bull
Marty @ Jan 7th 2009 6:06PM
Now PS3 fanboys can make fun of Xbox 360 owners for having ads on Xbox Live from the comfort of their Red Bull airplane, while dressed up in logo-emblazoned virtual clothes (which they bought with real money), inside the Red Bull space in Home.
The console wars are officially over.
Tez @ Jan 7th 2009 6:08PM
I'll be laughing while wearing logo-emblazoned virtual clothes I got for free by being kind of okay at Pac Man.
Sarah @ Jan 7th 2009 6:46PM
Yeah because PS3 users pay for PSN right? And don't say shit costs money in Home because you can choose not to get it.
Little Big PSN ID: johnnynumber5 @ Jan 7th 2009 6:54PM
Well Marty not only do you pay for Live but it also has ads. Home as well as the PSN are free services so I don't think it's really the same thing at all. Could you be anymore blatant about your bias? At least try to disguise it a little more or you will really blow your cover.
j.howlett @ Jan 7th 2009 8:10PM
meanwhile other fanboys can delude themselves saying stupid things thinking they're somehow above others
el serpiente @ Jan 8th 2009 1:00AM
Let's call him "Martysoft" from now on.
J @ Jan 8th 2009 2:26AM
You know, why would you be so comfortable calling people ps3 fanboys, when you're so clearly a biased 360 fanboy? (rhetorical)
I mean, we all can be hypocrites sometimes, but really, marty. Your self righteous attitude won't hold as much weight anymore =\.
Aren't you embarrassed? First hyam's calling you out for being such a bitch over kojima's new game not being for xbox, leaving 20 posts about how you don't care that you were wrong, and now this.
You can keep your fanboy bais. Just stop being a STUPID fanboy, and think about your words before sharing them. Like, ask yourself "would this make me seem like a hypocrite?" would be a good start.
Oh, and please don't start talking about the value of xbox live and how it's worth it. You know this isn't about that. It's about getting burned and feeling uncomfortable.
Also, MS doesn't charge live to pay for its maintenance. It's to see how much crap they can get away with. Releasing an unreliable console and charging people to see advertising. Fuck, that's impressive. However, you think MS needs that money? At all?
They take advantage of fools like you who think that a tacked-on premium price is proof of quality service. Yeah, by paying for xbox live, I won't have to worry about the host's slow connection or the network ever being down. These aren't ads. They're just part of the video game theme.
You're paying to use the interface that's already in the system. That's like paying extra to unlock features that's already in the game disk. I remember people making a big deal about that for some game.
Microsoft should add a new device that attaches to the 360 that takes quarters. Insert a quarter for 30 minutes online. Reminds me of those rides they used to have for kids in front of stores. However, in this case, MS is the one riding you.
jarhead906 @ Jan 8th 2009 3:48AM
J...
I am now and forever your devout follower. Your words are like 1000 Angels singing in harmony.
ditman @ Jan 7th 2009 6:19PM
Will I have to wait in line to fly this virtual planes too??????
arrrgh @ Jan 7th 2009 6:41PM
now if only they could actually link the spaces together in some sort of coherent fashion, we'd be rockin
arkweld @ Jan 7th 2009 8:35PM
Can you fly the plane into the central plaza and use the propellor to carve up the dancing stalkers?
No?
Pass.
DjFIL @ Jan 8th 2009 12:02AM
I'd love to see a Red Bull Air Race World Series game appear on XBLA. Just to test this teaser found on home, is the only reason I want to try Home... but still the PS3 doesn't have enough for me to buy a 3rd console.
Ross @ Jan 8th 2009 12:37AM
OR you could.. you know, live in Perth Western Australia about 10 seconds walk from the swan river where they yearly hold the actual international red bull air race.
Horrible idea. Who comes up with this crap.
LameDuck @ Jan 8th 2009 4:09AM
Did you give them the guns?
LameDuck @ Jan 8th 2009 4:09AM
COMMENT FAIL!

Who cares? I trudged through Home for a few days and have never gone back. I just can't see what Home brings to the table.

You know that you don't have to use home, right?
bombtrak @ Jan 8th 2009 12:03PM
Come on, now...why not a Flugtag space where I can launch my Quincy off a ramp into the glistening waters below???
PranaFerox @ Jan 8th 2009 1:49PM
That still doesn't explain why you're angry enough about it to yell at people for enjoying something you don't.
Oh, that's right... it's because you're an asshole.
el serpiente @ Jan 9th 2009 1:35AM
Yes, even giant assholes have opinions too.
