Red Bull space, new content hitting Home this week

The PlayStation Blog has updated with word that the previously uncovered Red Bull space will be debuting in Home this week. Home-bodies will be able to take part in competitive, checkpoint-based air races within the space, and Sony has alluded to there being more Red Bull themed "events" forthcoming.

Clothing brands Diesel and Linge Roset will also be getting their own dedicated storefronts in Home's Mall, something that has already taken place in Europe. If spending $.49 on designer duds isn't your thing, two Resident Evil: Degeneration T-Shirts will be added to the regular ol' clothing shop, so you can become a walking advertisement instead (and for free).

I cant believe that there are really people who will pay real money for these virtual goods? Seems completely pointless to me, like the rest of PS Home.

Besides adding a lot more activities to Home, I think home would be more fun if they had "free" virtual money that you could earn by doing things in Home, like winning bowling contests, selling stuff, or doing other sorts of tasks. Then maybe even allow you to bet the virtual dollars on pool or maybe in a virtual casino. Now that might make home more entertaining.

While I agree, there's no point in dwelling on it; there are people who will buy anything. I saw people dressed in the Santa outfits over the holidays. They spent, what, $5 to do the running man as Santa?

People even bought horse armor.

Forgot to add, there's no point in being angry at Sony over it, either (not to say you are, I'm just speaking generally because there seems to always be an uproar about it). There are people who will buy anything, and Sony's giving them something to buy so the money goes to them. Wouldn't you do the same? I would. If silly people want to give me money for silly things, I'd let them.

Yeah, im not angry or upset about it, I just feel they could bring more value to the application by providing things for "free". They are already supporting Home with ads so its not like they don't have a revenue stream.

Im just saying a lot more people will probably spend/gamble virtual money for cool activies/goods than would spend real money.

Sure virtual money is a good concept on first sight but what's the point of getting it? Bragging rights?
There's got to be an objective, just like any MMO has one (I suppose). Besides that would contradict with one of Home's points which is make real money from those items you suggest they give for free.

The focus is on the community and social aspect of gaming and it should remain at that. It's undoubtedly a risky idea from Sony mainly because the target audience is people that overall have extremely short attention spans and will probably be bored in no time, never to return.

IMO, Home is only going to succeed if Sony keeps adding games and related content around the environment to give a reason for people to go back.
At least for me I'll boot it once more just to check out this game.

Finally where the hell are Uncharted and Warhawk rooms for Europe, Sony?

I think Home is pretty neat and more content is welcome as far as I'm concerned. I haven't paid for a single thing and have got to do everything in the game that people who choose to pay have done. Maybe except furnish my apartment or buy another apartment.

You know what I would buy?

I would buy a bowling lane, pool table, arcade machine, chess board and any other fun little game for my apartment. Now that shit would be tight.

Now PS3 fanboys can make fun of Xbox 360 owners for having ads on Xbox Live from the comfort of their Red Bull airplane, while dressed up in logo-emblazoned virtual clothes (which they bought with real money), inside the Red Bull space in Home.

Also, MS doesn't charge live to pay for its maintenance. It's to see how much crap they can get away with. Releasing an unreliable console and charging people to see advertising. Fuck, that's impressive. However, you think MS needs that money? At all?

They take advantage of fools like you who think that a tacked-on premium price is proof of quality service. Yeah, by paying for xbox live, I won't have to worry about the host's slow connection or the network ever being down. These aren't ads. They're just part of the video game theme.

You're paying to use the interface that's already in the system. That's like paying extra to unlock features that's already in the game disk. I remember people making a big deal about that for some game.

Microsoft should add a new device that attaches to the 360 that takes quarters. Insert a quarter for 30 minutes online. Reminds me of those rides they used to have for kids in front of stores. However, in this case, MS is the one riding you.
