Two of Europe's brightest development teams will share a home in the future, according to a recent interview with SCEE's Michael Denny. Studio Liverpool, developers of the popular Wipeout franchise, and Evolution Studios, developers of the MotorStorm series, will eventually merge to work at one location. The two teams have already merged "management structure" and are currently using "combined resources." The two teams are already in close proximity to each other, so it makes sense that these PlayStation teams should combine.
Each studio will continue to have their own "internal concepting group" to think up "new opportunities and new IPs." Perhaps their next game will feature futuristic hovering ... off-road monster trucks. Wait a sec. That sounds incredibly awesome.

As long as they get to keep their own concepting groups, then this is a great idea.
Any news on what the new name of the studio is going to be called or are they still using the old studio names?

This means they have downsized then? With merging they will surely loose some staff.
This is concerning seeing as i'm about to embark on a 4 year course at LJMU and was hoping to get a job in a local studio when i finish, i just hope the other studios in the area don't decide to follow suit.

That's never the way it works though, management always work together, managers will have been moved to other roles around the business and the departments with the highest number of employee's will be the ones hit with voluntary redundancies.
I feel bad for anyone job hunting in these times, i'm kinda relieved that i'm taking a 4 year skive, just hope everything's fixed when i'm ready for employment again lol.

hmmm interesting .. hovering Monster trucks LOL .. that would be funny too see but it just wouldn't work out that well for concept. it would be nice too see a wipeout track on Motorstorm or a motorstorm track on the wipeout game.

OMG Motorstorm 3 running at 60fps full 1080p with vehicles that go 100+ mph ::Drool:: . Or Wipeout HD with Motorstorm's insane physics and destructible environments. This could be awesome!

I'm a big Wipeout fan going back to the original, but I think the Motorstorm guys have the edge in fun gameplay AND technology right now so hopefully that can spread to future wipeout games. I don't think Motorstorm can take anything useful from wipeout (or it's devs) though. Wipeout could seriously do with some more open thinking in the level design (ala motorstorm) to freshen it up!
