The official sales figures for White Knight Chronicles' Japanese debut are finally out. Media Create shows that the game sold just under 207,000 units during the week of December 22nd to the 28th. Bearing in mind that White Knight Chronicles is a new IP and that this figure accounts for only three days of sales, we're impressed. To put it into perspective, White Knight Chronicles now has the third best opening week PS3 sales ranking for the region, after MGS4 (476K) and Devil May Cry 4 (212K). Both of which are long-running and very popular franchises.
White Knight Chronicles also had an impact on PS3 hardware sales, keeping the upward momentum going by increasing sales from 39,136 units the previous week to 45,989 units. This is the highest number of units sold in a single week since Metal Gear Solid 4 was released in June (which shifted 75,311 units). We're intrigued to see how both the game and the PS3 itself continue to sell in the following weeks.

Hmm A Japanese developer makes a Japanese RPG and the Japanese audience buys it. Who knew??
Obviously Microsoft did (Tales of Vesperia, Infinite Undiscovery, and soon to be Star Ocean) so Sony get your butt into gear and start getting more JRPGs out for the PS3 and lay off the shooters for awhile.

Yeah Sony lost its edge from last gen. If you wanted to shooter you got a xbox if you wanted a good RPG you got a PS2. Thats just the way it mostly was back in the day. 360 saw that this time around and is hogging up all the RPG's this time around and Sony just let them by thinking they needed to do all these shooters like Haze and Killzone 2 and Socom and MGS4 online. Forgetting its core people that play RPGS. Even though most of the RPG's that Micro$oft have suck and got bad reviews they at least have a handful to pick from.

I think Infinite Undiscovery is actually owned by MS Game Studios... not the game itself, but the rights to its title or something. Wikipedia it to make sure I'm not totally insane.
What a lot of people seem to forget about Star Ocean 4 is that when the PSP remakes released in Japan, Sony/Squeenix bundled a preview DVD trailer for SO4 in with those. Now, why would Sony let them advertise a Microsoft-exclusive product? It's definitely not exclusive. Timed at best.
At least, those are my opinions and they, as the word "opinion" implies, vary between people.

Its not like it was only RPGs that the PS2 was good for but it was a fair balance of all the games. Gran Turismo, Twisted Metal, Wipeout for racing, The Getaway for open world, Everquest, Wild Arms, Dark Cloud for RPGs, Socom, Time Splitters, and to some people Killzone as shooters, R&C, J&D, Sly Cooper for mascot platform games. This gen, Sony seems to be bring out a shooter every six months.

When I first saw this preview I was interested in it. And when I saw the Online play I got even more interested in it....Although...I kind of started hating JRPGS after FF10 and the emerging fact that they seem all the same.
Kind of want to try this game. But...How is this game out already?...None the less...Will be waiting a few months for the translation.

I stunned tired of moving my character for a set of "points". And the art work was no joy either. I played that demo and I was able to look up the girls skirts, that is the only plus it gets. So I will stick to the crazy typical, swords, magic and and nonsense that will come from the White Knight Cron.

no surprises here, its an RPG and there are almost none on the ps3 so RPG fans are going to be getting whatever they can.

See how once an Rpg hits a Japanese based/Rpg fanbase console people flock to it, Now imagine how much Tales of Vesperia, Infinite Undiscovery, Ace Combat, Star Ocean 4, and The Last Remnant could have sold.....this is exactly why i believe some...scratch that a lot of palms were greased over in the east

People can not blame Sony for there being a lack of RPGs,blame the companies who are putting them (mediocre) on a console that doe snot have a fanbase for the genre.Every RPG on the 360 has flopped and I guarantee you that WKC will go plat. Also if you claim that you are a RPG fan and you did not buy Valkyria Chronicles, then you don't even deserve any more RPGs because you lack diversity in your gaming taste if you won't support the game because it's strategy based. That's none sense!

VC was a great game but with the crappy sales we will probably never gonna see a sequel but then again it did have a decent ending. It is weird how most RPGs on the 360 have flopped or havent done as well as expected - it might be a sign to new era of gaming where people are more interested in multiplayer online and quick games like shooters than "sitting alone" games like RPGs. Some of the ratings for shooters are so high because of online component but single player is so short (COD4, GOW etc..)

Honestly, it a couple of things...
Strategy, you can overlook
WWII over High Fantasy, you can overlook
A Japanese Strategy RPG in WWII, kind of hard to overlook...
Don't get me wrong, I rented the game and fell in love with it, but its still a hard concept to overlook.

I have heard in Asia after the people buy White Knight Chronicles PS3, in less than a week people already putting this game on sales again for second hand.
I mean this is a Japanese game and it only the Japanese people would fully understand the game.
If developer want to make money of the game then they should try make the game internationally this could be including English language.
