Fable 2's Knothole Island add-on coming Jan. 13
Those who have uncovered every treasure, bludgeoned every bandit and cracked every wisecracking gargoyle in Albion will be pleased to note that Fable 2's Knothole Island add-on (800
), initially delayed due to technical issues, is now scheduled to arrive on Xbox Live Marketplace next Tuesday, January 13th. The downloadable detour will add an isle's worth of quests, items and specialty shops for you to uncover and / or fart at.Lionhead's community blog notes that January 13th will also bring a free title update which fans -- and Oakfield's abbot -- have been eagerly awaiting. You can look forward to new items, clothing and leaderboards being patched in along with the, uh, patch.

Ive got a spare 700 points just itching to be spent.
Dirty @ Jan 8th 2009 9:53AM
anyone know of any sales on points to fill in my missing 100?
baby sea tuna @ Jan 8th 2009 9:59AM
I would gift you them, if I could.
Erluti @ Jan 8th 2009 10:07AM
On the zune site you can buy 400 points for $5, or via the xbox site you can buy 500 points for $6.25 and the would round you off to 400 point increments again...
Draco Basileus @ Jan 8th 2009 9:59AM
And peoples of Albion rejoiced.
It's about time on that patch. I've been deathly afraid to continue playing the game for fear that I'd get (s)nailed by one of these bugs. Get it, "s-nailed".
Uh, yea. I gotta get back to work...
ronEbear @ Jan 8th 2009 10:01AM
I don`t know why, but I was just unable to enjoy Fable II. Maybe it was the shitty map system. Maybe i`m just too used to games that are open world. This game is overrated.
dingermann @ Jan 8th 2009 10:08AM
In order for a game to be truly overrated, it would have to be getting amazing professional reviews, and less than stellar actual user reviews...
from what I've seen, the user reviews are higher than the professional ones. You are still entitled to your opinion, but this game is far from overrated...
my opinion: best of 2008
Trev @ Jan 8th 2009 11:24AM
Pretty much everything about this game was a disappointment, so I disagree that it needs stellar reviews to be considered overrated. To be overrated, it only needs ratings higher than its actual merits.
The ratings are, the game is, and I won't be buying another Molyneux game until the man learns that the dissonance between fart jokes and child murder destroys the tone of a game.
If CaVG's anonymous source is right, I couldn't be happier with EA and Starbreeze developing the new Syndicate.
giantenemycrab @ Jan 8th 2009 11:27AM
Have you gotten passed the first few hours? They are kind of tedious and confusing, but once you get the hang of it, it's a blast. It's my favorite game of 2008. It's one of the few games this generation that I could see myself picking up and playing for years to come, like Ocarina of Time.
Shagittarius @ Jan 8th 2009 11:50AM
A decent game, certainly not GoTY. There's probably a place for it in the bottom 5 of my top 10 though.
zero2dash @ Jan 8th 2009 11:58AM
@ ronEbear
"Maybe it was the shitty map system."
Amen to that. WTF were they thinking? "Oh, we don't want to clutter up the screen with icons, bars, maps etc. like the first one, so let's leave them off." Lionhead is absolutely clueless.
My wife and I both loved the first Fable, yet we've both spent only a few hours each with Fable 2 and we've both complained to one another about the lack of an overhead map aggravating us.
AT LEAST give people the option to turn that stuff on, for crying out loud.
Trev @ Jan 8th 2009 12:05PM
Yeah, I finished it. Twice even, because I realized with my dog dead buried treasure was basically impossible to find.
I got the hang of it to the point that I was completely unstoppable. Time slow 1, raise dead 2, lightning 5, blast away with a clockwork pistol with ghoul gem while they're getting fried. Health refilled, enemies decimated, tons of XP. Works on every enemy because they all prioritize raised dead over you. Made it through the crucible with all perfect rounds my first time, got a unique weapon called the Chopper.
By the time you uncover the unique weapons, you're already a tiny god and they hardly matter. Expressions are about as shallow as they could possibly be. Marrying and having children doesn't do anything for you. The character is always cockeyed for some reason, which is just looks lazy. Co-op is terrible. The dialog is terrible. The game is glitchy, easy and short. The dog was useless for anything other than a metal detector. You could be a horned monster with a flaming sword and a gun that shoots pure hatred and people would still ask for your help hooking their gay son up with a date as though there was nothing unusual about you. The characters were not memorable enough for me to remember any of their names.
Really, the moral choices in Spider-Man: Web of Shadows determined which characters you could call in for backup and how you interacted with people. That's more weight than anything in Fable 2. When a Spider-Man action game outclasses the hyped up morality system in your RPG, there's a serious problem.
If Oblivion is a 20,000 page book you never finish, Fable 2 is a soggy pamphlet.
ronEbear @ Jan 8th 2009 4:00PM
@Trev
it`s like you reached through the monitor, jammed your hand in my mouth and took all the words that were about to come out.(on the lack of depth with the characters and morality)
Quattro @ Jan 8th 2009 8:46PM
Game was my biggest disappointment too. I don't understand the purpose of making moral decisions and the like when it doesn't actually affect the game's story whether you're evil or good. Even the most evil character could choose sacrifice at the end and have a statue built in his name, while a good guy could simply choose wealth. There is no depth to the game at all.
baby sea tuna @ Jan 8th 2009 10:03AM
Is anyone on here that has this on my friend list? I still need some co-op achievements. I will pay handsomely in gold pieces.
DiggyStyle @ Jan 8th 2009 10:56AM
I would be happy to join you in a fable 2 coop game after the DLC is released. GT: Diggystyle
I think you are already on my friends list though.
baby sea tuna @ Jan 8th 2009 11:40AM
I am, and will take you up on that.
Duke @ Jan 8th 2009 11:44AM
I got it too tuna. I will be playing it again after the new content.
The Dark Wayne @ Jan 8th 2009 11:57AM
ill help you out too, you already have my GT but if anyone else needs it my GT's Mandalorian63
Zoot Suit Jedi @ Jan 8th 2009 12:29PM
I am not on your friends list, but you and anyone else looking for co-op achievements and/or hero doll trading, GT: Zoot Suit Jedi
baby sea tuna @ Jan 8th 2009 1:08PM
Cool, I'll add you. Question: how do you get a Hero Doll?
The Dark Wayne @ Jan 8th 2009 4:09PM
beat the highscore on the westcliff shooting range, each game gets only 1 specific doll, so you have to trade with XBLers to get all of them. Most people just save up shitloads of gold and buy them though
Travis @ Jan 8th 2009 10:07AM
any added achievements?
capt_carl @ Jan 8th 2009 10:16AM
There's already a few new Achievements in the list if you look. I think the game is up to 1250 now?
Bennyishere @ Jan 8th 2009 10:26AM
The Collector 25G
Acquire all the mystery items in The Box of Secrets shop, or see another Hero do so.
The Meteorologist 50G
Bring all of Knothole Island’s weather problems under control, or help another Hero to do so.
The Bibliophile 25G
Find all the books detailing the history of Knothole Island, or help another Hero to do so.
Dirty @ Jan 8th 2009 10:42AM
The Duke 25G
Get engaged to a homeless man with the only way out being murder.
Duke @ Jan 8th 2009 12:01PM
Hey, he was a pie salesman in town and I'm pretty sure he had a home - so leave my in-game mistake out of this!
Dirty @ Jan 8th 2009 3:42PM
My comment didn't really work until duke replied to it. lol.
solidunit @ Jan 8th 2009 10:13AM
Goatse Island
Firestorm @ Jan 8th 2009 10:17AM
New content is great and all, but hopefully they've concentrated FIRST on fixing the bugs, because this game is just beyond broken at the moment. I stopped playing after hitting the "notification area stuck" bug that pretty much kills your save file.
Zertoss @ Jan 8th 2009 10:21AM
I'm so ready to take this knot whole.
(The Award-Winning) dark_inchworm @ Jan 8th 2009 10:56AM
Coupled with your avatar, that just gave me a boner.
Somebody please end my life.
Deeznuts420 @ Jan 8th 2009 12:49PM

B @ Jan 8th 2009 10:27AM
WANT
loved Fable 2 to death and dieing for some more. 800 is a pretty damn good price considering GTA's is going to be 20$ (if i recall correctly).
Ed CHUPACABRAS @ Jan 8th 2009 11:56AM
Spectacular game, one of the year's best. I can barely wait for the new island... if only Mass Effect DLC could return, it would fullfill all my rpg needs for quite a long time.
patagonia @ Jan 8th 2009 11:21AM
Looks like Northrend.
Snowblind @ Jan 8th 2009 11:55AM
So every snowy region is now similar to something from WoW?
Knothole Glade was a region from the original Fable, which has now drifted off and become an island. The snow is only there because of some kind of weather device.
So.. OMG, WoW ripped off Fable!
The Dark Wayne @ Jan 8th 2009 11:58AM
it was an island before too
Zertoss @ Jan 8th 2009 11:58AM
Why so serious?
patagonia @ Jan 8th 2009 12:00PM
@snowblind:
Yeah, Fable totally came out before Frozen Throne.
Snowblind @ Jan 8th 2009 12:37PM
Fable was released less than a year after Frozen Throne. Again, I don't think that's where the idea came from, and simply having a snowy region does not make it Warcraft, in any way.
Zertoss @ Jan 8th 2009 1:36PM
Clearly it's the Ice Cap Zone.
Deck @ Jan 8th 2009 11:22AM
Can't wait! This is going to be great! Snow.. in Albion?! Lovely!
s.mario @ Jan 8th 2009 12:07PM
Best game ever...
I've played though every GTA, and that has been what sets the standard for fun for me, I play a wide range of games, in every genre, and Fable 2 has been the only game that has kept me glued to my TV for periods as long as 17 hours...I just can't stop playing it, i love every aspect of it.
longhairbilly @ Jan 8th 2009 1:45PM
What if I finished the game and don't have my dog anymore? Am I going to miss a ton of stuff that he would have found?
baby sea tuna @ Jan 8th 2009 2:48PM
I'm currently dealing with that problem right now. My solution is going to be start another character.
Zertoss @ Jan 8th 2009 3:01PM
Hopefully the "resurrection shrine" that was mentioned in an earlier Knothole-related post will be for bringing your dog back.
Last time I mentioned this, I got downvoted for spoiling the ending of the game, lol.
The Dark Wayne @ Jan 8th 2009 4:10PM
Two face dies!
Zertoss @ Jan 8th 2009 4:13PM
You bitch! YOU BIIIIIIIIIIIITCH!
komamura @ Jan 8th 2009 6:52PM
So do I get my dog back if I buy this content T_T
