Fallout 3: New 'Operation Anchorage' screens, 'Broken Steel' level cap revealed
Bethesda released new screens today for Fallout 3's Operation Anchorage DLC, along with word on how high it'll raise the game's level cap with the third DLC pack, Broken Steel, planned for March. The new Operation Anchorage screens (which can be viewed in the gallery below) reveal a ninja suit, a snowy lake landscape and a commie Chinese bunker. The DLC pack is scheduled for release later this month at 800
($10, 50 caps or 100 pieces of scrap metal).
Bethesda also informed Eurogamer that Broken Steel will raise the player's level cap to 30. We'd previously known that the bump was coming, but had no idea how high. Patient folks may care to wait and see if a discount happens on the packs down the line. As for us, well... that ninja armor looks like it might be worth $10.

Wait...they're asking poor console folk to pay $10 for something that PC players can do with a little knowledge and the ability to use notepad in less than ten minutes?
Snowblind @ Jan 8th 2009 11:53AM
The content adds a lot more than a raised level cap.

Also, stop being such a buzzkill. Seriously.

You sir, from this moment on shall be named buzz killington...
Jakka ( FREE 1UP - A BRAND NEW CAMPAIGN!) @ Jan 8th 2009 1:07PM
How does extra content change the fact that you still have to pay $10 if you hope to ever level up your char again? Extra-content or not, level cap increase should've been a free update seeing how everybody and their mother has maxed out their levels half-way through the game.
Also, I like that name...Buzz Killington
Eggy @ Jan 8th 2009 3:16PM
Agree with you Jakka. Don't let them downvoters get to ya!
Screens look good though.

To be honest, I stopped caring around the point I predicted LBP's fate six month before release.
Great game, terrible executive meddling from Sony...
Stan @ Jan 8th 2009 11:48AM
I wish Broken Steel was coming out first. It's dumb to make level 20 characters wait until all 3 packs are released if they want to get the most out of the content.
Jerk Face @ Jan 8th 2009 1:03PM
Totally agree with you. I keep wrestling with the thought of waiting until March to play all three, just because I'm so close to completing the game's many side missions and exploration that it'd be a waste to have TEN LEVELS to go through with a mere expansion (even if it's sizable, ten levels is a lot).
And I'm never going to play through the whole game again, ever. It wouldn't be the same. The discovery is what makes the game great, and that would be lost on a second playthrough.
So do I wait until March? Probably.
waves @ Jan 8th 2009 11:50AM
Sweet. I was wondering what to play now that I've finished Far Cry 2.
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Jan 8th 2009 11:54AM
As much as I don't like Fallout3: That is a pretty badass ninja suit.
Shagittarius @ Jan 8th 2009 11:55AM
I'm really into this game but have to put it on a back burner beacuse I'm working on so many games simultaneously and the shorter ones are begging to be knocked off first.
That way I'll feel like I have more time to dedicate to Fallout all at once.
Duke @ Jan 8th 2009 12:08PM
I'm in the same spot. There are too many others I want to play and so I took a break from this game. I will be grabbing the DLC and playing it again when I have time.
In A World (XBL) @ Jan 8th 2009 11:55AM
I'll only be getting Broken Steel. I'm maxed out on lvl 20 and have a bunch of unfinished quests all queued up, ready to be completed for their XP payout. I can probably get to lvl 21 within 5 minutes of installing Broken Steel.
acefondu @ Jan 8th 2009 11:57AM
Figures the only DLC I would actually buy isn't available for the PS3 version... Oh, the irony.
glitched @ Jan 8th 2009 2:19PM
yup, this is the first DLC i would buy on my ps3 as well!
i wished they would reconsider bringing it to ps3
Leobebes (BDF: Braid Defence Force) @ Jan 8th 2009 5:36PM
They would reconsider it as soon as you reconsider trading in your PS3 for a 360.
Popfrogs @ Jan 8th 2009 8:33PM
I imagine it'll be coming for the PS3, just a year late thanks to MS bribery. Crooked bastards.
It really is Oblivion all over again minus the horse armor.
AwesomeTown @ Jan 8th 2009 11:59AM
Level 30 is pretty damn good, I just hope then introduce a lot of new though enemies that would actually make getting there worth it.
Oh and that ninja suit would be awesome on my current melee character. I love the shishkabob.
Jerk Face @ Jan 8th 2009 1:35PM
The Shishkebab is a recipe for Win!
ryan @ Jan 8th 2009 2:17PM
I know, I thought the shishkebob was a funny alternative to 'ye olde +5 Sword of Flame'.
kal326 @ Jan 27th 2009 2:11PM
The shishkabob is all well and fine, I just wish it would stop lighting Dogmeat on fire along with the enemy. The site of a flaming dog jumping at a flaming super mutant is only funny so many times.
Reuben @ Jan 8th 2009 12:04PM
I'm very excited for this, but am I the only one that is a little perturbed by the fact that we have to pay for a raised level cap? I don't have an issue with paying for the extra content/areas/quests, but I feel at least the level cap raise should be made available for free.
cantbeatmegaman @ Jan 8th 2009 12:06PM
How about the patch the damn game first before talking about DLCs.
butaneko @ Jan 8th 2009 12:17PM
How about a patch for some extra friggin songs on GNR. What they should have done is made findable records or CD's in the game that you can bring to the station to augment Three Dog's playlist -- and possibly hack his computer and delete tracks you can't bear listening to anymore.

"How about the patch the damn game first before talking about DLCs."
I couldn't agree more. I'm stuck half way through the game due to the game breaking bug in Waters Of Life. Which means I'm stuck waiting for a patch before I can play one. And I'm pretty hecked off about it to be honest.
Brian @ Jan 8th 2009 2:15PM
Same. I'm currently trapped inside the Jefferson Memorial, please send help!
Maurice M @ Jan 8th 2009 12:20PM
Waiting for the eventual GOTY bundle that will include everything down the line. I'm in no rush to play (or pay for) this stuff up front.
butaneko @ Jan 8th 2009 12:21PM
I just recently hit level 20 with like 70 hours under my belt and was kind of surprised how little it affected my desire to continue playing. I guess the fun of exploration is the real driving force for me.
Still a level 30 cap is pretty bad ass.
Antagonist @ Jan 8th 2009 4:55PM
I wish it would've taken me 70 hours to hit lvl 20. I don't know the exact amount of playtime, but I hit lvl 20 in less than 20 hours, and I haven't even considered touching the game since.
Any hopes of reward for my in-game efforts and explorations, as well as any further character development, were dashed to bits before I had even played halfway through the main story quests.
In my opinion, it serves as almost a punishment to any player who is attempting to see as much as they can of the game in one play through. I can only speak for myself, but I won't even consider picking this game back up until the level cap is raised, and the fact that it carries a price tag is very off-putting.
ScottG13 @ Jan 8th 2009 12:24PM
Awesome. I'm on board.
cjshrader @ Jan 8th 2009 12:37PM
I have a guy who will buy my scrap metal for 10 caps each. So I'll only need 5 pieces. I'd tell you where he is, but it's a secret to everyone.
Strategy_Panda (The Sandwich Poisoning Crew) @ Jan 8th 2009 12:47PM
I will kill everything in the Fallout universe to get that ninja suit
Markusdragon @ Jan 8th 2009 1:09PM
Won't that leave you with no-one left to ninja, though?
Strategy_Panda (The Sandwich Poisoning Crew) @ Jan 8th 2009 1:12PM
I can always ninja scorpions
Obie @ Jan 8th 2009 12:49PM
Will there also be new achievements with this DLC?
TheKarmaPolice @ Jan 8th 2009 1:09PM
First there was gun metal grey, then dirt brown
now introducing the Azure blue filter
apply accordingly
Ok seriously, that looks sweet and I can't wait, but boy....those screenshots sure are blue
Vic @ Jan 8th 2009 1:25PM
I'm buying each DLC pack day one when it comes out! Currently playing through the first time as a goody goody, then will go through again as Sneedy McEvil...Fallout 3 is a great game.
For the people complaining about paying to raise your cap lever....there will be DLC ALONG with the raise in level cap for Broken Steel, so you're not just paying to raise the cap...
I never can understand why people complain about something they don't want... unless deep down they really do want it, and are just too cheap/broke to actually get it...
Burritoclock @ Jan 8th 2009 4:14PM
Agreed, I'll buy anything they want to sell me. This was one of my favorite games ever.
Give me dog armor please.
Tin @ Jan 8th 2009 1:28PM
I am a little annoyed that this is not coming for the PS3. I've been trying to build up my PS3 library and decided to buy it for that instead of the 360. And there is no way I'm gonna play through all of that content again on the 360 just for this.
xeleion @ Jan 8th 2009 1:50PM
Wait... so what about us PS3 Fallout owners? No DLC for us?
ryan @ Jan 8th 2009 2:13PM
No DLC for you!! /soupnazi
xeleion @ Jan 8th 2009 11:33PM
T_______________T
Crusty Magic @ Jan 8th 2009 1:58PM
PS3 owners should be used to getting screwed on DLC by now.
Zach S @ Jan 8th 2009 2:57PM
Except that the Ninja suit is probably stuck inside the DLC, seeing as they said it's a "simulation," right? Kinda sucks, but there you go...
ryan @ Jan 8th 2009 3:59PM
I'm pretty sure as you find stuff it will be unlocked in the original game. Don't know how exactly. Maybe "This suit/gun is now available to purchase in Rivet City".
HDpurist @ Jan 8th 2009 3:34PM
This xpack will soon come for the PS3....can't wait, looks awesome.
Doreo @ Jan 9th 2009 1:49AM
I bet when you leave the simulation, your left with the schematics of said armor or weapon and then you have to build it yourself. Or maybe you find it in a closet in the place your contained while in the simulation... Either or!
