More Spore: 'Galactic Adventures' expansion coming this spring

The first expansion pack for Will Wright's "everything sim," Spore, is slated for release this spring, according to -- of all things -- an invitation to its debut event. Called Spore Galactic Adventures, the pack is evidently just one part of an entire line-up of Spore tie-ins/spin-offs EA and Maxis are planning for 2009.
Judging by its title, the pack will expand on Spore's galactic end-game, widely considered to be the sim's most engaging stage. As for what those other Spore titles could be, we'll take your suggestions (sorry, we've already called Spore: ODST!) in comments.

One of the reasons I never got into this game is because I knew it would be milked to death with hundreds of little expansions just like the Sims.
Call me in a couple of years when there's a Super Turbo Double Deluxe Complete Edition available.

Believe me it will take a few years to work the mind numbing boredom out of this game series. Such wasted potential in a game. Right now the game is "beaten" in less then 4 hours, with no reason to play again. Unless your a child or maybe have ADD that is.

In my opinion Space Stage was the worst part of the game. It's all too easy to get in a war you can't win and have to constantly babysit your planets meaning you don't get to do anything else in the game.

I agree...it was a huge sandbox level with nothing really interesting to do. It was pretty pointless and I found myself thinking "I played through all those levels to get to this???" It was super weak.

We all knew this was inevitable. Well no thank you, EA. I'm not interested in watching you milk this franchise like you did with The Sims. You lost my interest in Spore when you release Cute & Creepy, and now I can't bring myself to turn the game on anymore.

After a few installs, you won't even be able to anymore. :)

Sadly seconded.. cute and creepy turned my stomach the instant I realized I had been duped into buying 1/100th of the game I thought I was getting.

Oh christ..."our Spore line-up for 2009!" The line-up? For one year??
I see where this is going and I will have no part in it.

Spore IV.
Because 4 is the new Hot number.

They won't fix it for mac, so what's the point?
Somehow along the way I lost sound. I reinstalled, tried patching, ERROR. Reinstalled over and over. I read the boards, it's a pretty common problem...
I just can't believe I have a 50 dollar game that since I first installed has been plagued with problems...is unusable...and is not being actively fixed.
Sorry for venting!

They can fuck right off.

This is just hilarious. To EA: Spore is not The Sims.
Nobody's buying this shit.

Many Websites have got Spore Galactic Adventures listed, here is a link which goes to a list of them, it also includes release dates for it:

Wasn't the first expansion back supposed to allow us to live under water?
But meh, I guess, I never got into Spore that much, I learned my lesson from the countless years playing and paying for The Sims.

Only the second of at least half a dozen "expansion packs" for the game that are only released to get you to pay exorbant amounts of money for the same game. Hooray, Maxis! Aaaaah.
ninepintcoggie @ Jan 14th 2009 7:39PM
didn't many of the promotional videoes show some green three-legged thing swimming around underwater? Really dissapointing.

One of the only reasons I keep playing the game is for the occasional appearance of sporn. Nothing brightens my day better than being eaten by a large tribe of bouncing penises.

I am not a child and I do not have ADD but I do find the space stage to be the more interesting stage. As far as getting in fights you cannot win and baby sitting your planets, well, it helps to make alliances with other aliens. You can even encourage them to attack and do your fighting. And if you stay with the game long enough, you get uber turrets that can be placed down that fly around the planet and essentially defend it from most invaders i.e. you can just ignore the calls for help.
I did find the creppy&cute pack to be disappointing just as i find all the clothing packs that they put out with the Sims to be disappointing. However, I think this expansion might add some nice things to the game and make the space stage more enjoyable. I do agree with the desire to see underwater civilizations as that was promised with the first expansion.
