Electronic Arts' dwindling stock could soon be trading in Disney Dollars. Just as the Wall Street Journal advised back in November, a new Variety report suggests that Disney may be interested in purchasing EA in 2009 in order to "jumpstart itself to a lead position" in the video game market. It's a small world after all.
While like EA, Disney stock has recently taken a trip south, the report speculates that such a move would help spur revenue growth at the animation giant in the face of waning DVD purchases and slow-to-start Blu-ray and digital download sales. Of course, the cash flow from EA-themed stuffed animals, snowglobes and keychains hocked at the Disney Store couldn't hurt either.

Wow. The economy is really screwed up right now huh? Usually it's EA wanting to buy everyone out.

Somehow I just can't see things like Dead Space being published by Disney.

Funny, in an alternate timeline where Take-Two is gobbled up after all, Disney could be the one to publish further installments of GTA. Crazy, isn't it?

Uh, you do realize you're talking about the company where the animators nicknamed their department "Mauschwitz" right?

I think EA should think about that before they do anything stupid.

The slight possibility of Kingdom Hearts being yanked from Square and handed to EA makes my stomach sink.

Wow...the potential for movie/game co-releases will become even more staggering. Maybe Disney will ruin everything.

Well, you may be right, but most people that owned a PS2, Xbox 360, or a PC with the capability of playing DVDs had no need to dish out more money to buy a stand-alone DVD player.
...But then again, I know people that bought a PS3 ONLY to play Blu-ray movies.
So, The number of people that use it as a Blu-ray player could be even greater.

Now I cant decide if this was a move to hedge against the buyout, or insider trading.

I think this is great news because the Disney company has said they wanted to bring out more Mature stuff and EA has some nice games. Plus then may be the next Turok might be pretty good.
Plus for people that says Disney is only for little kids Maybe the parks are but there still is fun stuff to do if you are older. Disney owns lots of companys ABC,ESPN plus a lot of other company's too. Plus EA working with Pixar might bring out some really cool games. I also got to say this would allow better movie games.

Apple big time into gaming, not so far off if Disney buy's EA
The following are some quick reasons why I think Apple will rule gaming in the coming next generation wars.
1. Jobs is the single largest shareholder of disney since the pixar acquisition by disney.
2. Jobs is currently experiencing a mass amount of hype in the iphone gaming platform.
3. Apple is pushing the iphone and ipod touch as gaming devices.
If this happens I really believe you will see a HI DEF full-on Apple gaming console, and with this marriage you will see Apple controlling the majority of the gaming industries hottest IP's.
This might put a fairly large dent in Sony and Microsoft's gaming marketplace future.
