1UP FM lives on (sort of) as Rebel FM
After the 1UPocalypse, the various pieces and people of the network were scattered to the wind. But like cockroaches that will rule our post-armageddon world, some of the team continues to live on. Beginning today, you can check out former staffers Anthony Gallegos, Nick Suttner, Philip Kollar, Matt Chandronait, Ryan O'Donnell and others in their new podcast, Rebel FM.We're still broken up about the massive cuts, but we're happy to see that our friends have kept their fighting spirit. Show them some love and give them a listen, what do you say? Or, go ahead and subscribe on iTunes.

Queued up and ready to be listened to tomorrow during work.

Rebel FM, a close second behind the Joystiq Podcast.
Robert @ Jan 9th 2009 2:05AM
The podcast is really could, despite its Oakland apartment sound quality. They promise to improve as well as have it on iTunes soon. Go and show them some love @ eat-sleep-game.com.

There's a large hole in my playlist after this whole mess. I was happy to add RebelFM and will cross my fingers for more of those guys to start putting shows out.
I'm not holding my breath though. I don't see Garnet, Shane and John getting together for a new Up Yours show. Jeremy didn't seem like he ever enjoyed doing Retronauts in the first place, LAN Party never really got its legs after Jeff Green and Shawn left...
I really liked the direction Legendary Thread was going too.
In A World (XBL) @ Jan 9th 2009 4:39AM
Give Rebel FM a listen. Shane's not on it, but they said he might be on next week's show and they're hinting that Shane already has something in the works that the others will be a part of.

Yeah i've been trying to find a replacement and had a listen to some others recently:
Giant bomb: Not bad, but they don't take it seriously enough for me, lots of rambling.
Sarcastic Gamer: Crap, short, lots of "jokes", lame.
Cranky Gamers: Yawn.
What They Play: John, yay. Oh, its all about Wii games. fuck.
Joystiq: Its ok if i'm playing Burnout or something at the time, but too quiet and dull to liven up my commute.
Will listen to RebelFM after work and hope they help fill the GAPING hole the 1upocalpyse left.
Any other podcast suggestions welcome.

Try:
Player One Podcast: Ex EGMers with guests from the industry every week. They play games and discuss them from what I find a different perspective.
CAG Foreplay: It's main focus is talking about new releases this week but you also get some no hype opinion of games and some cheap deals discussion.
CAGcast: Some lame jokes but Cheepy D stories from Japan are interesting and Wombats crazy life makes up for it. It has a charm that isn't available anywhere. Their ability to give an honest opinion is refreshing.
IGN's Game Scoop: The best of the IGN podcats but it's still not great. The Other IGN podcasts are hit and miss depending on if they have guests or which staff member is on the Podcast.

@Joetheblow
Also try the gamers with jobs podcast, I just started listening to that one, and it's pretty good. Plus they have ex 1upers on fairly often, I think Phil or Nick is on this coming one, and they have Shawn Elliott on fairly often. The episode a few weeks ago with Shawn and Jeff Green was awesome.
jsgbullseyetm @ Jan 9th 2009 10:39AM
You may also want to try the podcasts over at http://www.vgevo.com. PSNation (the official podcast of PS3Fanboy) and Interactive Distractions are both excellent.
Duhigitive @ Jan 9th 2009 2:38AM
"But like cockroaches that will rule our post-armageddon world, some of the team continues to live on." I can't help but read that as you referring to the guys at 1UP as cockroaches. Probably because you just did.
Paragon @ Jan 9th 2009 3:17AM
I've been following a lot of the former 1up editors twitters and they seem hopeful for the future at least. i'm glad. I loved 1up and EGM and hope that the spirit of both live on. Oh and the podcast is super fly. check it out!

Hey guys,
Please change the links to the following. Aegis just twittered that their server might not be able to handle the traffic from your hyper-linking. Use the following instead (provided by Nick Suttner through twitter):

Might want to mention that there are torrents available for all the back episodes of 1upFM, and alternatives for downloading RebelFM, because as I remember their site crashed with all of the rush.
aegies @ Jan 9th 2009 4:40AM
Hey guys, Arthur here. Torrents are active, libsyn is fine. The site should be ok, but if it's down and you want to find the podcast, there's a neogaf thread on it that has mirrors and such. I speak for the guys when I tell you thanks for all the support.
JoeTheBlow @ Jan 9th 2009 4:53AM
On this weeks What They Play podcast (not something i'd normally listen to, but was good to hear Johns voice), he said "we'll be having guests on here soon", and the 1up Yours theme tune began playing in the background.
An obvious hint.
NightOwl @ Jan 9th 2009 6:31AM
The RebelFM show was great, definitely will help soften the blow. While I miss almost the entire 1UP Radio lineup (sorry, not the Sports Anomaly), this will definitely be on my regular rotation.
Note: Not perfect of course, that would require Luke Smith circa 2006 ;)
ZenGaijin @ Jan 9th 2009 6:51AM
And now the healing can begin.
It's good to see these guys bounce back so fast. Regardless I already subscribed to their RSS feed and I'm listening now.
juju187 @ Jan 9th 2009 7:03AM
I told them long ago when they gave conker's bad fur day on 64 a bad score that they will fall...
Snake Robot Podium @ Jan 9th 2009 8:00AM
Great podcast, but I miss that awesome 1upFM music. I would pay 99 cents or 80 Microsoft points for it. Maybe even $1.29.
zombienutz @ Jan 9th 2009 8:11AM
Downloading now. Good to see this has not kept them down.
crummer @ Jan 9th 2009 8:32AM
I just donated them $5 to help them get up and going. They have a donate button on eat-sleep-game.com
Deck @ Jan 9th 2009 1:51PM
It was good. Minus a few audio issues but that is to be expected since they just started doing it on their own. In time they'll have that fixed.
Its horrible what happened, but I am glad that they have started this up and hopefully continue on.
Wubbytoes @ Jan 9th 2009 3:35PM
Awesome. Those guys were some of my favorite 1up writers.
