better to compare these prototype vids of actual game play:
http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/950254/prototype/videos/prototype_democvid2_010809.html

I will rent both and see... I like the idea of good or evil in infamous and the size of destruction and multiple abilities in prototype. Maybe later I will end up getting both.

I wonder who started first and who copied (if they did) who.

@IcerC: wow. that video sold me on prototype. infamous looks like a remodeled force unleashed. walking while holding lightning looks boring next to running up buildings and being more like carnage, the character from spiderman. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnage_(comics)

Agreed Mr. Joe. In the video of inFAMOUS.. there didn't seem to be much depth.

Prototype has you running on buildings and flying and ripping helicopters in half and jumping off cars and sliding on corpses as skateboards and doing massive fatality like moves and eating your enemies and morphing into them.

Apparently, this impressed IGN alot, so I'm more excited about this one than prototype.

yeah, IGN hates the ps3, thats strange of them to be excited about a game that is not coming for the 360.

they don't hate the ps3, where did you get that from?

Also about my earlier comment.. I say infamous is my choice.

"As he runs through the city streets, he will automatically gain in speed and he will likewise automatically jump over cars or ram through civilians"

"simply tap shoulder button to run up buildings"

no thanks

When I first saw Prototype, I was really impressed with it... but ultimately, I'm going with inFAMOUS. I've yet to play a bad Sucker Punch game and I'm sure this one won't let me down.

I also think this is going to have more depth and variety than Prototype... I like the whole idea of different powers developing based upon how you play, as well as Cole moving like a human rendition of Sly Cooper. I can't wait for this game.

Is it bad if I say that Prototype does cooler things to me? But the explosions in Infamous are graphically better? I see little gameplay elements in Infamous, DLC will probably follow the game's release.

i halfway agree with ya, i think id like to have a ton of powers rather than just 1, electricity at that, to be honest i think prototype looks better, both games seem pretty iddentical but i think i will buy both, but dont get me wrong infamous DOES look awsome.

i'm sort of siding with you on this. on one hand, prototype looks like it does a lot of stuff that's really fun, but is seemingly executed in an underdeveloped manner, whereas inFamous does a little bit less, but very well. also, inFamous looks WORLDS better than prototype.

The inFamous gameplay really is nothing more than a generic 3rd person shooter, it seems. Okay, the lightning comes out of his hands, but it's pretty inconsequential for gameplay mechanics. In the end, you see a guy running around, shooting stuff that blows stuff up and kills people. Might as well be a laser gun or _insert_any_other_weapon_.

Judging from these two clips, Prototype looks way more interesting to me. We'll have to see how the games turn out...

Agreed. Except most generic 3rd person shooters at least give you a variety of guns to choose from. Maybe the character's powers will evolve in inFamous so that you effectively get a new gun every so often, otherwise it would get boring quickly.

yeah it does but i still think inFamous offers a pretty cool story line

from what i've been reading its completely non-linear story and open world.

and any of your actions have an effect so you can be a good guy or bad guy or somewhere between

if they release at different times like slated...
Spring for inFamous and then Summer for Prototy[e may check out both

The reason there doesn't appear to be much depth in inFamous is because Sucker Punch doesn't want to show the cooler and better powers you receive later on, or else it would spoil everything, since the main gameplay is, in a nutshell, changing and evolving your self. ;) inFamous is a lot more about creating your own superhero/villain than Prototype, which really draws me to it a lot more. (Also because of the fact that Sucker Punch is the best devloper ever!!!!)

OH MY GOD. That Prototype video was sick! It looked straight out of a movie. I wouldn't be surprised if a non gamer mistakes it for a movie trailer. It looks more interesting to me than Infamous in the gameplay and story department. I'm still giving Sucker Punch a chance to impress me because they are one of my favorite developers.

kind of hard cuz they both look almost the same but since prototype is on 2 other systems being the xbox and pc... i have a feeling the ps3 version might suck the fat one... so im going with infamous over prototype

one other reason why im going with infamous is that its like star wars the force unleashed but probably better and nicer looking lighting attacks

just sucks we wont be able to use light sabers and kill wookies in this one

Prototype being on 2 other systems verses InFamous' PS3 exclusivity will probably mean:

- Sony will promote the hell out of inFamous on their Playstation Blog, PSN, Qore, etc. We probably won't hear a peep about Prototype out of Sony.

- If Fanboys latch onto inFamous the way they've latched onto Resistance and Killzone, we can forget about reading any objective comments about the game.

I have to say the Prototype does looks like it has a vary in gameplay mechnics with him be able to absorb others peoples powers and abilities (allowing him to drive a tank and fly a helicopter)

But comparing the two, the graphics in InFamous looks better and the story sounds more palatable, allow you to be a hero (which I prefer) or a villain. I didn't see one "good" thing that the protagonist in Prototype do. Looks like you just murder everyone in sight just because.

A waste of a comparison: The Prototype vid is a cut and directed version, more like a trailer-trailer, with a few small grains of gameplay scenes.
The InFamous one on the other hand is pure gameplay without cutting, special effects or cutscene crap.
Prototype pleases with the taking-over-other-identities feature, but ultimately the choice you have in InFamous to be either good or bad seems intruiguing to me. Looks like more depth of gameplay there, Prototype on the other hand seems to be a bloody mess of a straight forward action title being rather linear without big decisions to make.
Both games will have their strengths and weaknesses, that's for sure.
To round up my two cents: The design of the city and the physics in InFamous look a.m.a.z.i.n.g.

Yup, was about to say this. I'm surprised no one, including the writer, caught that the Prototype video really is a cinematic video, much like GTA's trailers. For being PURE gameplay, inFamous looks incredible on many levels.

I dunno whats goin on with Prototype yet.........but it looks like dude found The Symbiote(Venom) and uses it in a Majin Buu sort of way and absorbs people........

I DO know that inFamous is a Day one buy for me.......not as sure about Prototype yet.........maybe a rent-to-by type thing.......

lol youre right Aggie.. but im leaning more towards Carnage.. he was always more badass than venom and his abilities(they turn red. just like carnage. when he activates it)..oh yea guys you dont have to play the way they do in the trailer.. in prototype you can use stealth to blend in with the citizens.. but i wonder what opjectives we will have, since the story unfolds by killing people to jack their memories. and i hope there are side missions for lots of replayability.. ive never played the hulk game so i wouldnt know.. I'll be getting infamous first since it comes out first.. and then prototype.. no need to be a fanboy for a videogame.. i love both of em.. but prototype seems more cool.

Personally I'm finding Prototype a bit more interesting than this. It just seems more varied than just shooting lightning out of your hands. To me InFamous looks like a combination between gta, spider-man and The Force Unleashed. . . but not so much in a good way. hopefully I'll be proven wrong.

So, it's a mature sandbox game by the developer who makes Sly Cooper games, verses a mature sandbox game by a developer who makes Crash Bandicoot games. How ironic!

Except the developer of Prototype also made Hulk Ultimate Destruction and Scarface. The Infamous trailer looked like the game is repetitive and I'm really hope to be proven wrong.

For me both games are going to be fun. inFamous has been said that they don't want people to see the powers that you are capable of doing. That's why they always show the shooting lightning, grenade, shockwave and... the flying in the air gliding thing.

Prototype on the other hand is over the top action and mayhem. Probably less story driven.

ditto.
Both look like a weak-plot boring gameplay that replaces an existing game mechanic with a rip off

inFamous replaces generic weapon with force powers
Prototype replaces weapon selection and stealth with Terminator 2 absorption.

I think the hook on both Prototype and Infamous is how they upgrade the character throughout the course of the game (powers/weapons/equipment)

I'm leaning more towards Infamous at this point... If it's anything like Crackdown (But with better graphics, better story, and less repetition) but the same feel of growing into a full on super powered badass... Well, that's a fun time right there.

I should have guessed people would say that. Prototype is just Incredible Hulk with a new skin, but of course everyone is already drawn to the idiotic violence. I like violence too. God of War is my favorite game. But it needs to be balanced off. The guy in Prototype is a parasitic monster who doesn't care who he hurts including innocent people. Is he supposed to be the victim? Am I supposed to care what happens to him or root for him? At least Kratos cared about his family and friends.
Cole however is a normal person caught up in bad situation struggling to keep sane in an insane city. The other guy doesn't even seem to be trying. He just jumps in an starts "eating" and murdering people that have nothing to do with his condition. Infamous may look a little awkward but then so did Grand Theft Auto 4. I am rooting for Cole all the way. YEAH!!!!!!!!
