AK Rock Box presents tasteful Rock Band storage solution

For Rock Band players with not a lot of space -- or just looking for a stylish storage option -- the AK Rock Box might just be the solution. The top-popping living room ottoman fits two guitars, microphone, accessories, foot pedal and drums. Best of all: the ottoman has a collapsible stand that attaches to RB1 and RB2 drum kits.

The AK Rock Box was released in October for $300, but now it's $183 on Amazon, with free shipping. Customer reviews of the product say the peripheral storing footrest is well-built, but it will not work with Guitar Hero drums. Certainly not the cheapest storage solution, but it's one of the more elegant ideas for those who can't have their living room be a plastic peripheral romper room.

Yesss, my plastic instruments no longer need be stored in a tacky box, but a stylish couch thing.

I saw this at the store the other day and thought, "wow thats a pretty good idea!" Then I looked up and saw the $180 price tag...same price as the game with all the plastic instruments haha

I wonder if actually dampens the sound of the bass pedal. My neighbor sleeps at odd times of the day.

Agreed. I learned on a $100 used acoustic with about $50 in guitar tabs and sheet music. But it's still fun to break out the plastic instruments when family's around.

Yeah but a real guitar and lessons aren't going to fit into a snazzy ottoman...killer burn.

Good Christ, it's so much more than wanting to be the douche that knows how to play the guitar at this point. It's fun dude. Give it a try.

I got a fender squire guitar, it's the cheapest, but it's built well. After playing for a few weeks, I realized the whole "guitar' thing wasn't quite for me. So I got a bass instead, and let me tell you, OMFG it's freaking sweeeet.

I've wanted to play guitar for so long... but it requires practice and lots of time, while this is just a "pick up and play" thing.

It's shiny, but does anyone really need to pay that much to store plastic faux-instruments? I mean, there's this thing...it's called the closet...probably been around since ancient times.

Closets are actually a fairly recent invention. And market penetration is a lot lower than you'd think.

Lame. When you put the drums on the box's folding stand, you have to put the footpedal outside of the box in an awkward position. Useless and expensive.

I don't really think $180 for a piece of furniture is that bad. Unfortunately, the design isn't too inspiring - the instruments, mic stand and the drum throne in our entertainment area look cooler than that would. I'll stick to fielding the curious questions of our guests, which inevitably lead to the gateway 'first time playing Rock Band' experience. 60% of the time, it works every time.

Why is the kid in the video on Amazon STANDING while he plays the drums? Have the people who made that video ever actually played Rock Band and/or seen a real drum set before?

But what are the obscenely wealthy of us with Ion Drums to do?
